After receiving her punishment, Shisan sat dejectedly in the Fuyun Hall courtyard. Huayan advised her to calm down and stop causing trouble for Senior Deity Jiuchen. Shisan protested, recalling that she had just beaten Yuantong. She felt Jiuchen’s treatment of her was vastly different from Lingxi's. When Lingxi made mistakes, Jiuchen either begged for leniency or bore the punishment for her, defending her relentlessly. However, when it came to Shisan, Jiuchen simply observed her punishment.
Shisan grumbled that Jiuchen was too good at hiding his true feelings, even suggesting Huayan should make a mistake to see Jiuchen's reaction. Jiuchen, who had overheard her, scolded Shisan for not only being reckless herself but also inciting others. He then sent someone to get medicine for her injuries. Shortly after, Siming arrived with peaches gifted by the Queen Mother of West.
Meanwhile, in the mortal world, Lin Mo excitedly returned home, telling Jing Xiu that Doctor Sun had accepted her as a disciple and would teach her medical skills, even allowing her to prepare medicines for patients. Jing Xiu expressed his happiness for her, though he appeared troubled. He had been attempting to regain his powers without success and was haunted by memories of his imprisonment. Lin Mo noticed his unhappiness, but he dismissed it.
He tasted the medicine she brought, lamenting that it could never cure his eyes, as such a cure didn't exist in the mortal world. He then asked Lin Mo what she would do if his eyes remained incurable and he could never see her. Lin Mo compared his plight to her own deafness, stating that the most important thing for a person is to maintain a cheerful state of mind.
She shared how her father had doted on her since she was a child, even gifting her a beautiful golden lock. Jing Xiu questioned why, if she was so loved, she had left home. Lin Mo explained that she simply wished to walk her own path and train herself. She aspired to become a better version of herself before returning, perhaps as a famous doctor, or even to have her ears cured so she could hear and speak again.
She confessed that if her ears were cured, the first thing she wished to hear was a song her father used to sing to her. Jing Xiu, feeling both pained and compassionate, promised to find an immortal pill for her, no matter the cost. In the demon realm, Zhonghao pressed Heichi to intensify the search for Ling Xi, convinced that Jiuchen, who cared so deeply for her, must know her whereabouts. He dispatched Heichi to follow Jiuchen.
Zhonghao then inquired about the timing of the Blood Moon. Heichi could only provide a rough estimate, explaining that once Yang energy declined and Yin energy peaked, the Blood Moon would appear. He also reported that many tribal immortals had died due to the rebound effect of the Spirit-Binding Abyss enchantment, leading to escalating grudges.
Zhonghao, uncaring, simply ordered him to capture more people if necessary, stating that anyone who resisted should be killed, as no obstacle should impede the Demon Lord's grand plan. He then inquired about Qinyuan, noting his frequent visits to the underground prison. Indeed, Qinyuan was visiting the forbidden land's dungeon. Princess Baoqing, imprisoned there, defiantly declared that her Brother Jingxiu would surely return to save her and decimate Qinyuan's bones.
Qinyuan retorted that Jing Xiu was likely dead or at least powerless, revealing that his vital energy channels had been sealed by Qinyuan's adoptive father, his immortal magic disabled, his eyes blinded, and he was gravely injured before escaping. Baoqing refused to believe him, calling him a traitor.
Zhonghao, also present, further goaded her, stating that Ling Yue had neglected state affairs for years, and Jing Xiu's absence had left her unable to even handle a minor uprising, proving her unfitness to lead. Zhonghao urged Baoqing to abandon Ling Yue and pledge allegiance to his adoptive father, promising to intercede for her life and reminding her that Ling Yue was not her biological mother. Baoqing remained silent, refusing to be swayed.
After Lin Mo settled into her work at the medicine shop, the ever-enthusiastic Aunt Guan began matchmaking for her, asking for her birth date to find a suitable husband. Lin Mo tried to decline, citing her hearing disorder, but Aunt Guan persisted, saying the final decision would still be hers. Cornered, Lin Mo provided her birth date. Jing Xiu, having finally re-established contact with his Hawk Bodyguards, was desperate to remove the white-bone nails that hindered his recovery.
His attempts to remove them on his own only worsened his injuries, causing him to collapse. Lin Mo, led by Xiaobai's incessant barking, found Jing Xiu unconscious in his room and discovered the gruesome sight of numerous bone nails embedded in his chest. With great care, she painstakingly removed each nail and re-bandaged his wounds, staying by his bedside. Four days later, Jing Xiu awakened, astonished to find the nails gone and his vital energy channels unobstructed.
Lin Mo gently questioned who could have inflicted such a sinister injury. Realizing Lin Mo had removed them, Jing Xiu was shocked. He recalled Zhonghao once saying that only members of the Phoenix Tribe could remove these particular nails, and a deep suspicion about Lin Mo's true identity began to form in his mind. Seeing his reluctance to elaborate, Lin Mo decided not to press further and went to prepare some congee for him.
Early one morning, Siming arrived at Fuyun Hall. Jiuchen, seeing him, immediately knew it couldn't be good. Siming proceeded to gossip about High Immortal Peng being demoted, but Jiuchen warned him to stop. Siming then revealed the real reason for his visit, urgently begging Jiuchen not to return to the mortal world. He explained that Jiuchen had lost his Nuwa Stone Heart and his repeated use of magic had severely depleted his Fire Essence.
Siming recounted being warned by Heavenly Supreme Lord that if anything happened to Jiuchen, Siming himself, as the alleged instigator, would be demoted. Siming pleaded with Jiuchen to be more careful, fearing that he might exhaust his energy and perish before Ling Xi could even complete her three trials. If that happened, Heavenly Supreme Lord would reclaim the Farmer God's Cauldron to save Jiuchen, leaving Ling Xi truly unsalvageable.
Jiuchen, understanding the gravity of the situation, grew agitated and retreated to Polar Abyss for peace and quiet. During a meal, Jing Xiu abruptly questioned Lin Mo about her father. Finding his questions odd, she was disinclined to answer. Jing Xiu discreetly tested her, confirming she possessed no immortal power and was indeed a mortal. He theorized that she might be a descendant of the Phoenix Tribe living in the human realm.
Soon after, the leader of his Hawk Bodyguards, Chibi, arrived. Jing Xiu informed him that his magic had begun to recover. He then inquired about the current situation in the Shanling Territory. Chibi reported that Princess Baoqing was imprisoned in their tribal dungeon, though secretly protected, and State Master Lingyue was under Zhonghao's "Soul Absorption Technique," confined to her palace.
Chibi further revealed that Zhonghao was preparing to activate the Spirit-Binding Abyss enchantment to open the tunnel between the two worlds during the Blood Moon and unleash demons. Jing Xiu remarked that Zhonghao clearly understood his intentions. He declared that they would wait for that day so he could personally kill Yuandu. He instructed Chibi to monitor activities in Tianxi Palace and ensure Princess Baoqing's safety.
In the mortal town, Aunt Guan enlisted Lin Mo's help to carry some ingredients, but cunningly led her to a private school where she intended to introduce Lin Mo to Teacher Shen, a refined and genial man. Lin Mo, realizing Aunt Guan's true intention, felt embarrassed but reluctantly stayed. Teacher Shen was well-mannered and intelligent, showing no disdain for Lin Mo's hearing disorder, which put her at ease.
He shared his life story, explaining that his family had been prosperous until misfortune struck, leaving him orphaned. Having experienced the world's harsh realities, he chose to open a school in the quiet town to find inner peace. Lin Mo, though somewhat impressed, had no romantic inclinations at the moment. Before she left, Teacher Shen offered her some fragrant herbs, which Lin Mo accepted. Upon returning home, her father noticed the herbs and inquired about her day, and Lin Mo explained Teacher Shen had given them to her.
