After the rain stopped, Lin Mo limped home and was met by her father, Lin Shaohai, who had been on his way to find her with an umbrella. Seeing her injured leg, he helped her inside, gently chiding her to be more careful. Jiuchen, who had followed her, observed this tender moment with a contented smile. He then located a spiritually abundant, abandoned courtyard near the Peach Forest.

There, Jiuchen planted the spiritual seed from Siming along with Huodou's five senses, using his immortal power to transform the derelict yard into a beautiful home he named the Peach Blossom Lodge. That evening, Lin Mo was surprised to find her leg had completely healed. As she smiled, recalling the day's events, Lin Shaohai approached her with a worried expression.

He explained that the Song family had sent the official marriage agreement the day before, and the thought of her leaving made him reluctant. He fretted about her future husband, Young Lord Song, who had been away for many years. Lin Shaohai worried if his character had changed, questioning why a scholar would also practice martial arts, and was concerned about his temper and whether he would treat A'Mo well.

He also feared that if Young Lord Song passed the imperial examination and became an official elsewhere, he would rarely see his daughter again. Seeing her father's distress, Lin Mo reassured him with sign language, explaining that she had met Young Lord Song that day and that he understood her signs. This news delighted Lin Shaohai, as it proved the young man's sincerity.

To better prepare her for marriage, Lin Shaohai placed her hand on his throat, teaching her to feel the vibrations as he shaped the words "Daddy" and "Husband." When Lin Mo strained to utter a soft "Daddy," Lin Shaohai was moved to tears. As Lin Mo's birthday approached, Housekeeper Song arrived with gifts from the capital: fine fabrics and pastries. Lin Zhan, witnessing the Song family's attention toward Lin Mo, became intensely jealous.

She belittled the gifts as old and claimed her family could afford better. She taunted Lin Mo, insisting the Song family was only interested in the marriage to repay a life-saving debt to their father and that Young Lord Song himself was against it, which is why he hadn't visited.

Lin Zhan cruelly asked who would want to marry a deaf and mute woman, predicting that the handsome and scholarly Young Lord Song would surely take concubines soon after their wedding. When a servant reminded her that Lin Mo couldn't hear, Lin Zhan retorted that she would say as she pleased. Lin Mo remained silent, but Lin Zhan's words deeply wounded her. Despite her optimistic nature, she began to wonder if the exceptional Young Lord Song could truly like her.

Later, in her room, she tried to shake off the hurtful remarks by recalling her encounter on the mountain, clinging to the belief that he was not a shallow person. On the eve of her birthday, Old Madam Lin was uncharacteristically kind to Lin Mo at dinner, instructing Housekeeper Yu to prepare longevity noodles for her the next morning.

She noted that this might be Lin Mo's last birthday at home before her marriage, prompting Lin Mo to glance quietly at her mother. Every year on Lin Mo's birthday, the peach tree outside her room would miraculously bloom, a phenomenon known throughout the town that led people to believe she was an auspicious child protected by fairies. Lin Zhan overheard this and secretly devised a cruel plan to hurt Lin Mo.

The next morning, after Housekeeper Yu brought the longevity noodles, Lin Mo, dressed in a festive new outfit, thoughtfully carried the bowl to her mother's room. Lin Madam, assuming she was looking for her father, was taken aback when Lin Mo offered the noodles to her. Long estranged, she stiffly claimed she wasn't hungry. Lin Mo knelt at her feet, explaining through sign language that it was her last birthday at home and that she knew her mother disliked her.

She expressed her deep guilt, believing her inability to speak was the reason her mother was ridiculed and scorned by her grandmother. Seeing Lin Mo take all the blame, Lin Madam's heart filled with remorse. For the first time, she stood, helped Lin Mo up, and gently caressed her head.

She confessed that her distance was due to her own reasons and reassured Lin Mo that she was a blessed child, protected by gods, and now had a good marriage ahead of her. She urged her daughter not to feel inferior after marriage just because she couldn't speak. Feeling her mother's affection for the first time, Lin Mo's eyes welled with tears.

After sharing the noodles with her mother, Lin Mo returned happily to her room, only to find the peach tree that had stood there for over a decade chopped down and lying on the ground. Lin Zhan was waiting there, a smug look on her face. Lin Mo’s eyes instantly reddened as tears streamed down her face.

Ignoring Lin Mo’s anguish, Lin Zhan mockingly remarked that it was just a rotten old tree and ordered the servants to drag it away. She added what a pity it was that Lin Mo would not see it bloom for her birthday again. Lin Mo didn't try to stop them, instead clutching two small branches and silently following the servants as they hauled the tree away. The servants discarded the tree trunk on a nearby mountain.

Lin Mo sat beside it, lost in grief. A woodcutter came by and, getting no response from her, proceeded to chop the trunk into firewood. Nearby, an invisible Jiuchen watched, his heart aching for her. Later, as Lin Mo walked through the Peach Forest, Jiuchen waved his hand, causing the entire forest to burst into spectacular full bloom. Staring in wonder at the breathtaking sight, a faint smile finally touched Lin Mo’s lips.

The next day, the Song family delivered the official betrothal gifts. As the courtyard filled with red chests and wedding provisions, Lin Zhan watched with seething envy. That night, Lin Madam came to Lin Mo's room to offer pre-marital advice. She explained that her future husband, having studied in the capital, was a man who likely valued strict etiquette.

She instructed Lin Mo to always be obedient, cautious, and attentive to her husband's needs, as this was the path to a harmonious marriage. She then presented Lin Mo with a golden hairpin, a keepsake from her own mother, telling her to wear it on her wedding day as a symbol of their bond. Meanwhile, Baoqing was wandering through town when she was harassed by a group of ruffians.

Enraged, she used her magic to freeze them in place, but Chibi appeared and stopped her, warning her of the trouble that could arise from using immortal powers in the mortal realm. More concerned about Jing Xiu, Baoqing relented. She was relieved to learn from Chibi that Jing Xiu was no longer in Shanling Territory. While traveling, Qingyao was caught in a downpour and sought shelter at a relay station meant only for officials.

The attendant was hesitant until Lord Fang arrived and claimed she was with him, gaining them entry. Lord Fang found her familiar and soon realized she was the doctor who had treated his wife. Just then, a contingent of armored soldiers also arrived for shelter. Inside, a woman was desperately begging for a doctor for her sick son, but an ill-tempered official, annoyed by the noise, harshly rebuked her and tried to throw them out.

Qingyao, driven by her compassionate nature, offered to treat the boy. The official scoffed at her abilities, to which Qingyao calmly replied that while she couldn't guarantee a cure for the child, the official's own ailment seemed incurable. Enraged, the official was about to react when Lord Fang intervened and apologized on her behalf. Qingyao then treated the child with acupuncture, and after vomiting, the boy felt much better. Later, Lord Fang ordered a hotpot, and they shared a meal.

Qingyao noticed him eating lamb and unthinkingly asked if he used to dislike it. Confused, he replied that he did eat it. Qingyao's heart fell as she was starkly reminded that although he looked the same, this reincarnated man was not the husband she once loved.

At the same time, they overheard whispers that the current emperor had already lost four sons and the Crown Prince was now gravely ill, fueling speculation that the fearsome soldiers from the capital were there on a grim mission. At that moment in the Nine Heavens, Siming rushed to Jiuchen, breathlessly reporting that Lingxi's life trial had begun.
