Yunfeng, after learning Qingyao was fond of her husband’s porridge, decided to comfort Lingxi, who was in the mortal world under the name of Lin Mo. He forcibly brought a government official to the kitchen, instructing him to cook porridge. The official refused, but Yunfeng insisted he wouldn't leave until the porridge was properly cooked. The official struggled, only managing to make a thin, watery gruel. Yunfeng, dissatisfied after tasting many bowls, took over the task himself and eventually succeeded.

Qingyao, upon waking up, saw Yunfeng offering her a bowl of porridge and was touched. She finished the porridge, delighting Yunfeng. However, the next day, Qingyao had already left. Time passed, and Lin Mo grew into a young woman who confided in a tree in the courtyard. Lin Zhan remained willful but harbored secret feelings. She complained about the nationwide vegetarian diet for the ailing Crown Prince, angering a servant. Song Cheng'en, an old friend of Lin Shaohai, arrived.

Lin Zhan pretended to be demure and inquired about Song Cheng'en's son, Ziyu. Lin Shaohai and Song Cheng'en discussed matters, and Song Cheng'en proposed that Ziyu marry Lin Mo, explaining that he and his wife admired Lin Mo's kindness and wisdom. He reassured Lin Shaohai that his affection for Lin Mo was genuine and praised Ziyu's filial piety and obedience. Lin Shaohai worried about Lin Mo's disability, but Song Cheng'en urged him to agree.

Lin Shaohai agreed, believing it would provide a stable home for Lin Mo. Xiao Ju shared the news with Old Madam Lin, who praised Ziyu. Lin Zhan blushed, assuming the engagement was for her. Lin Shaohai announced that the Song Family wanted to marry Lin Mo, which shocked Lin Zhan, who questioned why the Song Family would want someone deaf and mute. Lin Shaohai explained that the Song Family valued Lin Mo's kindness and filial piety.

Lin Zhan refused to believe it. Jiuchen, observing from Siming Hall, felt uneasy. Siming explained that Lingxi's mortal trials were predestined. Siming revealed that Huodou had recovered his five senses and suspected that he was responsible for Lingxi losing her hearing. Jiuchen went to the Demon Tower, where Huodou was confined, and confirmed Zhurong's death. Huodou lamented that his grievances would remain unheard, accusing Zhurong of betrayal. Jiuchen revealed that Zhurong was killed by Demon Lord Wuzhiqi after Huodou deserted.

Huodou was shocked, and Jiuchen explained that Zhurong was protecting him. Overcome with sorrow, Huodou knelt and bowed. Jiuchen offered to restore Lingxi's hearing and help release Huodou, but Huodou refused, expressing his desire to remain in the tower and offering his five senses as atonement. Huodou revealed that Lingxi had exchanged her hearing for Huodou's Fire Essence to save Jiuchen's life after Jiuchen's heart was swapped with the Nuwa Stone.

She endured the painful process silently and was deaf when she returned from the Grand Hall. Jiuchen realized that Lingxi only heard the words spoken in the Grand Hall, missing his telepathic messages, leading to her hatred and vow. Jiuchen wanted to restore Lin Mo's hearing immediately, but Siming stopped him, explaining that she couldn't handle it. Siming gave Jiuchen a spiritual seed to plant in a place with abundant spiritual energy.

After a year, Lin Mo could regain her hearing by consuming the spiritual fruit. That night, Lin Shaohai explained to Lin Mo why he agreed to the Song Family's proposal, emphasizing their genuine affection for her and Ziyu's good character. Lin Mo expressed her trust and willingness to follow her father's wishes. Later, Lin Mo was drying herbs when a wild cat knocked some over. She carefully separated similar herbs by their scent.

Lin Shaohai praised her skill and gifted her a "Botanical Handbook for Medicine Gathering." The next day, Lin Mo went into the mountains to collect herbs, comparing them to the book. While collecting herbs, Lin Mo fell into a hunter's trap. Jiuchen appeared and rescued her. Lin Mo thanked him with sign language, and he indicated he understood "a little." She asked if he was the immortal who had always protected her.

When Jiuchen shook his head, she wondered if he was Young Lord Song, her betrothed. Jiuchen didn't confirm or deny but focused on her injured foot, cautioning her against gathering herbs alone due to her hearing impairment. Lin Mo signed her name, A'Mo, and he responded with her name. Jiuchen offered to escort her home. Lin Mo accepted, and Jiuchen carried her down the mountain. As rain fell, they sought shelter in a wooden hut.

Lin Mo hesitated to enter, so Jiuchen brought a brazier. Feeling better, Lin Mo signed, asking why he was there and offered him a towel, finding his hand unusually cold. She tried to take his pulse but found none, causing Jiuchen to withdraw his hand. They sat in silence, listening to the rain. Jiuchen prolonged the rainfall to cherish the moment.
