Shisan noticed a wound on Lingxi's hand and angrily demanded to know who was responsible, vowing revenge. Lingxi revealed it was caused by a "rotten Qingluan," to which Shisan, initially furious and ready to stew the bird, changed her tune upon learning it was Fairy Yuli's immortal pet.
Shisan then advised Lingxi to endure the slight, explaining that offending the Lord of Heavenly Medicine, Fairy Yuli's father, was unwise given their reliance on his medicinal pellets for cultivation, strengthening, and even recovering from cultivation deviations. Lingxi countered that she had never relied on such pellets, having grown up on common mortal foods like sesame-paste pancakes, sweetened jellied bean curd, and tripe in chili oil.
Lingxi felt increasingly wronged, lamenting that everyone seemed to bully her, leaving her unable to resist. Chibi reported to Jing Xiu that the assassin who had tried to kill him was Qinyuan, Zhonghao's adopted son. Jing Xiu acknowledged that Qinyuan must be seeking revenge for Zhonghao but noted that Qinyuan was a disciple of the Old Man of South Pole Immortal Continent, remarking on the ill fate of an immortal acknowledging a demonized individual as family.
After learning that Zhonghao's whereabouts had been discovered, Jing Xiu decided to personally lead the capture mission. However, he was nearly injured during the encounter, surprised by the immense power still held by a broken Demon Blade. After the confrontation, Zhonghao vowed to kill Jing Xiu someday. Yuan Tong had endured immense suffering, including her elder brother's demonization, her mother's suicide, her family's decline, and the drastic reduction of her own power, leading to the loss of her immortal post.
Unwilling to accept defeat, she found the "Dark Immortal Reference," a cultivation method previously practiced by Yuanzheng. Despite Duyu's alarmed warnings that the incomplete craft had caused Yuanzheng to lose his mind and become bewitched by demons, Yuan Tong remained obstinate. She declared that for the Yuan Family's legacy, she would rather risk everything than live a life no different from death, even regretting her past hesitation to be more decisive.
Qinyuan was present in Fuyun Hall, claiming to be there on behalf of the Old Man of South Pole Immortal Continent to meet High God Jiuchen. Meanwhile, Lingxi, unwilling to be bullied by the small Qingluan, Fairy Yuli's pet, set a trap, but the bird still managed to escape. As Lingxi vigorously pursued the bird and finally caught it, Fairy Yuli suddenly appeared and bound Lingxi with an immortal rope.
Infuriated by Lingxi's audacity to bully her beloved pet, Fairy Yuli dragged Lingxi, intending to seek Jiuchen's judgment. Qinyuan stated his purpose was to return the Water Moon Cauldron to his cave. Jiuchen observed him with suspicion, inquiring if he had sustained any recent injuries. Qinyuan, appearing flustered, evaded the question and reiterated his request for the Water Moon Cauldron. Jiuchen, sensing something amiss, denied ever seeing the item, causing a tense atmosphere in the hall.
At that moment, Fairy Yuli burst in, dragging Lingxi and roughly throwing her to the floor. Fairy Yuli accused Lingxi of using a Peach of Immortality to ensnare her Qingluan, questioning Lingxi's malicious intent. Lingxi, startled to see Qinyuan, quickly hid the Heavenly Lasting Mythical Sand on her hand and repeatedly apologized to Jiuchen. Seizing the opportunity, Jiuchen sternly rebuked Lingxi for causing trouble and ordered her to immediately withdraw and reflect behind closed doors.
An unknowing Shisan attempted to plead for Lingxi, but Lingxi pulled her away. After Lingxi and Shisan departed, Qinyuan again pressed Jiuchen to return the Water Moon Cauldron. When Jiuchen again denied having it, Qinyuan stood up assertively, accusing Jiuchen of attempting to seize the South Pole Immortal Continent's treasure. Before Jiuchen could respond, Fairy Yuli interjected, reprimanding Qinyuan for his insolence and daring to offend the Senior Deity. Silenced by her rebuke, Qinyuan grudgingly left, warning of future implications.
Jiuchen thanked Fairy Yuli for her assistance. Overjoyed, Fairy Yuli misinterpreted Jiuchen's punishment of Lingxi as an act of affection towards her, wistfully expressing her desire to be a mere attendant in Fuyun Hall to remain close to him. Jiuchen, however, offered no reciprocation, simply stating his weariness, prompting Fairy Yuli to tactfully depart after reminding him to use the Nine Dragons Mythical Fire Shade she had given him.
Soon after, Lingxi secretly returned to Jiuchen, cautiously asking if the high immortal, Qinyuan, was there to reclaim the Heavenly Lasting Mythical Sand, noting his unsettling demeanor. Jiuchen, in turn, told her to continue wearing it safely. Lingxi's brief moment of joy quickly faded when Jiuchen immediately reiterated her punishment to reflect behind closed doors. Jiuchen instructed Shisan to trail Qinyuan and investigate if he displayed any unusual signs. However, Shisan, being careless, was quickly discovered and evaded by Qinyuan.
Upon returning, Shisan casually reported losing Qinyuan, prompting Jiuchen to lament that despite having countless elite soldiers and generals in the past, he now had only such a muddle-headed follower. Just then, Lingxi entered to serve tea to both of them. Jiuchen questioned why she wasn't reflecting behind closed doors, to which Lingxi cleverly responded that she would do so after serving their tea.
Observing these two troublesome individuals, Jiuchen seemed at a loss for words, merely shaking his head in resignation. Yuan Tong continued to forcefully cultivate the "Dark Immortal Reference," a practice Duyu had earlier warned her against, reminding her that the incomplete craft had caused Yuanzheng to lose his sanity and become demonized. Despite Duyu's desperate pleas for her to stop, Yuan Tong remained obstinate, driven by her ambition to restore her family's prestige.
She expressed profound regret for her past hesitation, believing that if she had been more resolute then, the current dire consequences could have been avoided. Jiuchen located Zhonghao in Dark Capital Mountain and engaged him in combat. Zhonghao proved no match for Jiuchen, who quickly subdued him. Jiuchen pressed Zhonghao to reveal the Demon Lord's intentions, but Zhonghao defiantly refused, instead stating the Demon Lord wanted him dead.
Despite Jiuchen offering a chance to repent, Zhonghao was unwilling to accept it and was promptly recalled by the Demon Lord, who recognized Zhonghao's inferior skill. After leaving Dark Capital Mountain, Jiuchen went to the Peach Forest to find Le Bo, but Chengyan informed him that Le Bo was not present. Jiuchen left a message for Le Bo to await his return and then went back to Heavenly Palace. Upon reaching Fuyun Hall, his first order was to summon Yunfeng.
Yunfeng, still relentlessly pursuing Qingyao, resorted to a trick. He instructed a maid to falsely claim that an immortal beast in Wanling Park was gravely ill and required her immediate medical attention. When Qingyao realized the deception, seeing Yunfeng appear to serenely play music, she chastised the maid for speaking nonsense and confronted Yunfeng.
She accused him of being an irresponsible High God, more interested in frivolous pursuits than the welfare of the mortal realm, especially given the current drought and rampant plague in Great Yue State, which had left countless children homeless. When Yunfeng tried to defend himself, Qingyao intensified her criticism, reminding him of a devastating flood he had caused in Great Yue State 50,000 years prior, while in a drunken stupor.
Yunfeng admitted to the incident, claiming he had swiftly rectified it by retrieving the souls of the deceased from the Ghost Realm and altering their fates to grant them prosperous lives and happy families. He then minimized the gravity of the disaster by stating that only one person had died, emphasizing that he had even waited for that soul at the entrance between realms, but couldn't retrieve him.
Qingyao, in a fury, scornfully denounced him, asserting that every individual, no matter how insignificant in his eyes, had the right to experience the world and enjoy a simple life, things he disdained. Yunfeng was stunned by Qingyao's detailed knowledge of the past event and tried to explain further, but Qingyao drew her sword, threatening to kill him if he took another step. Recognizing her genuine intent, Yunfeng dared not pursue her.
Suspecting a connection between Qingyao and the single death in the Great Yue State flood, Yunfeng went to Siming Hall and began searching through the Destiny Books for records of immortals' trials. Siming, upon his return, immediately tried to stop him. Siming explained that while Shisan was allowed to look at records of deceased mortals for amusement, Yunfeng was attempting to access the sensitive Destiny Books pertaining to immortals' trials.
He warned that allowing a non-Siming Palace member to view these records would cause him to suffer heavenly retribution during his future promotions. Yunfeng, however, dismissed Siming's concerns, making a cutting remark about Siming's stalled cultivation progress and lack of future promotion prospects. Their argument escalated into a brief struggle over the books until Lingxi and Shisan arrived. Lingxi expressed concern for Siming, and Shisan defiantly stated he would never allow Yunfeng to bully Siming, despite their differing ranks.
After his encounter in Dark Capital Mountain, Jiuchen's suspicion of Lingxi intensified. He informed Yunfeng that he intended to take Lingxi to the mortal realm as a test, specifically to Dark Capital Mountain. Before departing, Jiuchen entrusted Yunfeng with the comprehensive management of Heavenly Palace affairs, urging him to set aside distractions and diligently perform his duties.
Yunfeng, initially attempting to be flippant, immediately adopted a serious demeanor after receiving a stern gaze from his senior brother and promised to handle everything with care, including keeping a close watch on the Yuan Family and the Shanling Tribe's potential collusion with demons. Meanwhile, Lingxi was daydreaming by the Full Moon Spring, imagining Jiuchen's reflection in the water.
She was startled back to reality when Jiuchen cleared his throat, only to learn he intended to take her to the mortal realm. Overjoyed, Lingxi eagerly accepted, excitedly listing the various delicious foods she looked forward to trying there. Jiuchen and Lingxi embarked on their journey by cloud towards Dark Capital Mountain. As they passed over Great Yue State, Jiuchen observed a Bai Ze beast rampaging through a bustling market, scattering terrified citizens.
As a deity, Jiuchen could not ignore such disruption and immediately descended. Lingxi, who had been chattering animatedly to Jiuchen, quickly noticed he had gone down and swiftly followed him to the mortal realm. The Bai Ze beast, it turned out, was not harming anyone, but merely searching for food. Lingxi, seeing its pure white fur, was reminded of her deceased pet, Xiao Bai. Noticing its pure eyes devoid of malice, she knew it hadn't injured anyone.
She promptly bought a cage of steamed buns from a nearby stall and lured the beast to a secluded bamboo grove outside the city. Once there, away from any human presence, Lingxi tossed the buns from the cage. The Bai Ze immediately stopped its rampage and began to eat with relish. Lingxi crouched down, attempting to speak to it.
When the Bai Ze made a gesture as if to show affection, Lingxi misinterpreted it as an attempt to eat her and fled in fear. Jiuchen, who had been observing from behind, swiftly cast a spell, confining the Bai Ze and transforming it from a large creature into an adorable small beast, barely larger than a rabbit.
