Qian Mei felt that everything in her surroundings was too eerie and expressed her desperate wish to run away with Hao Tian, stating she no longer wanted to be under anyone's control and would go anywhere as long as she was with him. Meanwhile, Ming He and Jia Ruo were healing their injuries. Ming He explicitly forbade Jia Ruo from visiting Shu Jingrong in the dungeon.
Jia Ruo, however, grew more curious about Shu Jingrong's identity, noting Ming He's apparent fear of him going to her. He questioned why Shu Jingrong was an enemy of the Moon Sect and wanted to kill them. Ming He explained Shu Jingrong was from the Snow Tower and their enemy, emphasizing that with Shu Jingrong in their custody, they would not fear Xiao Yiqing.
She then instructed Gu Guang to guard the dungeon to prevent anyone, especially Xiao Yiqing, from discovering Shu Jingrong, lest all their efforts become futile. Xiao Yiqing frantically searched the entire Long residence for Shu Jingrong, unable to find any trace of her, which filled him with anxiety. Suddenly, Gu Guang ambushed Xiao Yiqing from behind, but Xiao Yiqing effortlessly dodged the attack and wounded Gu Guang.
Gu Guang, acknowledging Xiao Yiqing's prowess, admitted that he had deliberately provoked him but had only made a fool of himself. Recognizing Gu Guang, Xiao Yiqing smiled faintly and wondered if Gu Guang now regretted rejecting his offer three years prior. A flashback revealed that three years ago, Nan Chu and Huang Quan, while searching for Qing Lan in Sand Valley, discovered a severely injured and unconscious Gu Guang.
Nan Chu brought Gu Guang back to Snow Tower, where Xiao Yiqing healed his wounds. Xiao Yiqing then proposed a deal: Gu Guang would secretly relay information about the Moon Sect to Snow Tower. Gu Guang vehemently refused, swearing on his life never to betray the Moon Sect, and reminded Xiao Yiqing that his Mistress could abandon her own daughter.
Xiao Yiqing, without anger, instructed Doctor Mo to care for Gu Guang, explaining he primarily wished for someone to look after his mother in the Moon Sect, and then released him to return before the Pilgrimage Ceremony. Gu Guang acknowledged his life debt to Xiao Yiqing before departing. Now, Gu Guang approached Xiao Yiqing, declaring he no longer wished to be anyone's pawn. He offered to return Shu Jingrong if Xiao Yiqing would eliminate Jia Ruo for him.
Xiao Yiqing, having never heard of Jia Ruo, learned that he was the Moon Sect's most skilled assassin, who took direct orders from the Mistress and whose existence was largely unknown even within the sect. Gu Guang explained that Jia Ruo's removal would leave him unrivaled in the Moon Sect and prevent the Young Mistress from being distracted. Without further delay, Xiao Yiqing asked Gu Guang to lead him to Shu Jingrong.
Meanwhile, Qian Mei awoke from her unconsciousness to find Hao Tian guarding her. Terrified, she expressed her fear of suffering the same fate as the eleven previous brides, a fear Hao Tian tried to quell, promising her safety. He attempted to get closer to her, but Qian Mei, still shaken, pushed him away.
Hao Tian understood, expressing his deep affection for her, his long-held dream of escaping Yingge Island together, and defying the Long family's strict rules against marriage for servants. Unbeknownst to Qian Mei, someone was intently watching her from outside the window. Guided by Gu Guang, Xiao Yiqing reached the dungeon where Shu Jingrong was held.
Gu Guang expressed that their life debt was now cleared, as Xiao Yiqing's presence allowed him to evade the Long family's search and rescue Shu Jingrong. Xiao Yiqing then roused Shu Jingrong, who, in a daze, mistook him for her Elder Brother, Qing Lan, and pleaded with him not to leave her alone. Saddened, Xiao Yiqing reassured her, promising to stay by her side, and internally wondered if her symptoms were linked to the Crimson Azalea.
After feeding her a healing pill, Shu Jingrong fully regained consciousness. Recognizing Xiao Yiqing's distinctive herbal scent, she realized he was the silent physician who had rescued her countless times. With tears in her eyes, she questioned why he had kept his identity a secret. Xiao Yiqing gently informed her that now was not the time for such discussions.
He then explained that Gu Guang had saved her from Ming He, revealing that he had saved Gu Guang three years prior, intending to use him as an informant, but remained silent given Shu Jingrong and Qing Yu's fervent desire for revenge. With Gu Guang now serving as his shadow, Xiao Yiqing confirmed he had a plan for their investigation. He quickly led the weakened Shu Jingrong out of the dungeon.
Following a secret passage from the Flower Hall, which Xiao Yiqing noted connected the entire Long residence, he and Shu Jingrong ventured deeper. Shu Jingrong speculated that these passages must conceal secrets and might be linked to the deaths of the previous mistresses, a thought Xiao Yiqing echoed. They soon arrived at the Long Family ancestral hall, which Shu Jingrong found strangely dark, nameless, and devoid of offerings, despite the Long family's esteemed history.
Inside, they found numerous tombstones, each bearing a peculiar mark. Shu Jingrong recognized the mark as identical to the one on Hong Chen's wrist, wondering if the enshrined individuals were those marked and killed. Xiao Yiqing discovered a paper that revealed the Long family's dark secret: "If twins are born, the female must be killed. The cursed is to be assassinated in secret."
This indicated that the ones buried there were part of the Long family's bloodline, particularly those marked as twins. On the day of Qian Mei's wedding to Qing Ya, Xiao Yin helped her prepare. Qian Mei noticed Xiao Yin's scratches from plucking azaleas and gave her ointment, then asked about the tombstones on Yingge Island.
Xiao Yin, visibly cautious, warned Qian Mei to stay away from them, revealing that the beautiful flowers growing before the tombstones were cultivated with the blood of deceased mistresses, and that those married into the family were bound to the island even in death. Xiao Yin sternly instructed Qian Mei not to leave her bridal chamber that night, explaining that the previous eleven mistresses had all perished on their wedding night.
Qian Mei also inquired about Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong, but Xiao Yin only vaguely replied that anyone on the island was at the mercy of the Long family. Qian Mei remained deeply anxious. Hao Tian then sought her out, promising to keep her safe, and proposed a drastic solution: to kill Qing Ya with a poison he provided.
He argued that only Qing Ya's death would free them from the Long family's control, allowing them to escape and begin a new life. Despite Qian Mei's hesitation and her desire to see Xiao Yiqing and Shu Jingrong, Hao Tian assured her of his protection, subtly placing poison beneath her fingernails, declaring that after Qing Ya's death that night, they would finally be together forever.
Meanwhile, a mysterious female Long family leader, distrustful of Snow Tower's ambitions beyond just the Azure Azalea, handed the coveted Azure Azalea to Ming He, urging the Moon Sect to continue supporting the Long family against Xiao Yiqing. Ming He, now in possession of the flower, expressed her intention to leave the island immediately.
Convinced the flower was authentic and that its true power would be revealed upon their return to the Moon Palace, she ordered Gu Guang to kill Shu Jingrong, unaware that Shu Jingrong had already been rescued by Xiao Yiqing. Qian Mei's wedding ceremony to Qing Ya commenced. Qing Ya's monstrously ugly and unsettling face horrified Qian Mei, who, filled with trepidation, was forced to go through with the rites. During the ceremony, Qing Ya, noticing her averted gaze, angrily questioned if she harbored feelings for someone else in her heart.
