Huang Guifen, still on an IV drip, finally regained consciousness, bringing a wave of relief to her daughter, Ye Sibei. Struggling to speak, Huang Guifen urged Ye Sibei to "Leave Nancheng. . . Go. . ." Despite her desire to see the lawsuit through, Ye Sibei verbally agreed to her mother's desperate plea.

Later, Ye Sibei had a serious conversation with her father, who confessed that he was the one who had insisted on sending her to the countryside when she was a child. He openly admitted his past mistakes of favoring sons and failing to be there for her during her formative years. He told her, "All these years, you've always thought your mom was against you in everything, blamed you for everything, and favored Nianwen over you.

But the truth behind it all. . . It was because of me." He continued, explaining how Huang Guifen's illness had made him realize many things, including how he had wronged both his wife and daughter. He then encouraged Ye Sibei to "listen to your mom. Go to the provincial capital. Start a new life there. I'll handle things here. Dad's here. Don't worry."

Hearing her father's heartfelt remorse, Ye Sibei felt that the hardships she had endured previously seemed insignificant; her parents' health and happiness were all that truly mattered. Qin Nan quietly went to the hospital cashier to pay for Huang Guifen's medical expenses. While there, he spotted Zhao Shuhui and Fan Jiancheng arriving. Qin Nan called Nianwen to ask where Ye Sibei was, learning she was collecting her mother's CT scan results. He then saw Fan Jiancheng approach Ye Sibei.

Fan Jiancheng feigned concern, asking Ye Sibei about her mother's health and if she needed financial assistance. Ye Sibei curtly replied, "Please leave." Qin Nan, witnessing the scene, stepped in and sternly told Fan Jiancheng to "Get out." Fan Jiancheng then pulled a reluctant Zhao Shuhui away, claiming their appointment was elsewhere. Fan Jiancheng's provocative words had a profound impact on Ye Sibei, leaving her emotionally distraught and tense. Meanwhile, Captain Zhang delved deeper into the case, suspecting hidden truths.

He found it suspicious that Meili, a server at the restaurant who had handed water to Ye Sibei that night, had abruptly resigned and found a "better job" shortly after the incident. The police located Meili, who revealed that she was introduced to her new job by Tao Jie, a colleague also present at the dinner, claiming they were from the same hometown, Zhi County.

Meili then confessed that while she gave Ye Sibei water, it was Fan Jiancheng who had poured it and specifically instructed her to give it to Ye Sibei, who was feeling unwell from drinking. Captain Zhang, connecting the dots, immediately contacted Captain Chen about any registered buyers of controlled medicine in Nancheng and ordered his team to investigate Fan Jiancheng's purchase records for such drugs.

Qin Nan decided to leave the city with Ye Sibei and sold his beloved car repair shop to his brother, Qiang, for a minimal sum, including a 30,000 yuan stake. He reassured Qiang that if they were truly brothers, money shouldn't be an issue, emphasizing that he wanted Qiang to take good care of the shop, which represented years of his hard work. Qin Nan proposed to Ye Sibei that they leave on the first of the following month.

Ye Sibei, however, hesitated, expressing concern for her recovering mother and suggesting they wait. Qin Nan reassured her that they could visit often or even bring her mother to live with them once they settled. That evening, Ye Sibei, in a strange mood, gave Qin Nan a glass of milk, which the Chinese plot indicated contained sleeping pills, telling him it would help him sleep as he hadn't been resting well. Qin Nan drank it.

The next morning, Qin Nan woke up and found Ye Sibei making breakfast, with Fan Jiancheng's live broadcast playing next to her. Qin Nan was perplexed by how long he had slept, remarking, "That's strange today. Why did I sleep so long? You didn't even wake me up." Ye Sibei dismissed his concern, saying he was merely tired and could sleep more.

When Qin Nan mentioned his plans to prepare the car for a house-hunting trip to the provincial capital, Ye Sibei demurred, stating her father had called, saying her mother wanted soup that would take six hours to simmer, and urged Qin Nan to go by himself. Qin Nan, though hesitant about making such a significant decision alone, accepted her reasoning. Meanwhile, Captain Zhang and Lin Feng were following Tao Jie after work.

Tao Jie, on her way to meet colleagues for a movie, appeared flustered when Captain Zhang stopped her, nearly hitting his car. She quickly got out. During their conversation, she identified herself as a finance director who had worked her way up in four years and was a local from Nancheng. When questioned about her relationship with Fan Jiancheng, she insisted they had no private contact, only professional dealings.

Captain Zhang then casually asked if Wu Meili was a relative, to which Tao Jie admitted she was a distant one. Tao Jie abruptly excused herself to pick up her child, despite having just claimed she had finished work early. Observing her evasiveness, Captain Zhang noted to Lin Feng that Tao Jie "is definitely hiding something."

That evening, Ye Sibei once again offered Qin Nan milk, which, given the earlier event, was implied to contain sleeping pills, claiming she had already finished hers. Qin Nan drank it. The following morning, Qin Nan was again surprised by his prolonged sleep. He called Qiang about the car's fuel tank, which was unexpectedly half-empty despite Qiang's assurance it had been filled. Later, a courier called, reporting that the moving boxes had arrived but no one answered the door.

Qin Nan, having left Ye Sibei at home to make soup, was bewildered. He immediately tried to call Ye Sibei, but her phone was off. Rushing back home, he found the house completely packed and meticulously cleaned, but Ye Sibei was gone without a trace. He then called Nianwen, who confirmed Ye Sibei was not at the hospital either.

Lin Feng later informed Captain Zhang that Tao Jie and Fan Jiancheng were indeed having an unethical relationship, prompting Captain Zhang to order focused surveillance on Fan Jiancheng. While tracking Fan Jiancheng, they soon encountered Ye Sibei, who claimed she was out buying bread. Captain Zhang, observing her, continued with their investigation. Qin Nan eventually saw Ye Sibei return home and was relieved to see her. He asked her where she had been and why she didn't answer his calls.

Ye Sibei claimed her phone ran out of battery and that she had been at the hospital. However, Qin Nan noticed mud on her pant leg, realizing she was lying, but chose not to confront her. Sensing Ye Sibei's continued erratic behavior, Qin Nan began to discreetly observe her actions. That night, Qin Nan pretended to be asleep and secretly followed Ye Sibei as she left the house.

He discovered she had meticulously tracked Fan Jiancheng to a gambling den, where he was enjoying himself. Ye Sibei observed Fan Jiancheng from a distance but ultimately returned home without confronting him. When she quietly slipped back into bed, Qin Nan pulled her into an embrace. He gently spoke to her, "Next month we'll move to the provincial city. Start our life over. We'll have a wonderful future." Ye Sibei replied, "I know. You and me. . . We'll all have a great future," her words tinged with a complex mix of understanding and sorrow, as if acknowledging his unspoken plea for her to abandon any drastic plans.
