Xu Nuo found Zhao Jin on the sofa and squatted beside him until he woke up, asking why he slept there. Meanwhile, Xu Nuo’s mother arrived at Xu Nuo's apartment. Finding her absent, she noticed a litter box and wondered when Xu Nuo got a cat. Xu Nuo returned to Shi Ran's house, finding her visibly upset.
Shi Ran explained that Peng Yu'an had called wanting to meet, and she didn't know how to handle it. Xu Nuo apologized and vowed to take care of the situation. Shi Ran worried that Peng Yu'an's actions were aimed at preventing Xu Nuo from being with Zhao Jin, highlighting the negative social perception of Xu Nuo giving up a "good match" like Peng Yu'an for Zhao Jin.

Zhao Jin reassured her that domesticated cats don't wander far and went to help her search. As they searched, Peng Yu'an arrived at Zhao Jin's apartment. Xu Yang, who was inside watching a game with a friend, answered the door. Peng Yu'an asked for Zhao Jin, and Xu Yang vaguely informed him that Zhao Jin had been called out. After Peng Yu'an left, Xu Yang's friend remarked that Peng Yu'an's real intention was to see Xu Nuo.
Zhao Jin later confronted Peng Yu'an, telling him they belonged to different worlds. Peng Yu'an retorted that Zhao Jin should have waited until he and Xu Nuo had officially broken up. As the argument escalated, Xu Nuo appeared. She told Peng Yu'an that he could do whatever he wanted to her—meet her family, call her, visit her—and she would endure it as penance for the pain she caused.
However, she issued a stark warning: if he dared to hurt Zhao Jin, she would do everything in her power to make him suffer in return. Meanwhile, Peng Yu'an's father found him looking troubled.
