Xu Nuo telephoned Zhao Jin, who was inside Peng Yuan's car at the time. Zhao Jin did not disclose that Xu Nuo was calling him. Later, when they met, Xu Nuo confronted Zhao Jin, asking why he hadn't been truthful about the call. Zhao Jin admitted that he was too timid to tell Peng Yuan. Xu Nuo pressed him further, questioning why he wouldn't help her reclaim her heart, as she had asked many times.

Zhao Jin retorted that he was struggling enough to control his own wavering emotions and could not concern himself with her potential heartbreak or "craziness." Afterward, Peng Yuan called a colleague aside to interrogate him about Xu Nuo and Zhao Jin. He angrily brought up Xu Yang and Zhao Jin being at Xu Nuo's house late at night, despite claiming Zhao Jin was "dragged in."

The colleague tried to defend Zhao Jin, stating he wasn't "that kind of person" and that Zhao Jin had been unconscious after drinking too much. However, Peng Yuan then directly asked if Zhao Jin liked Xu Nuo, which the colleague found excessive. He reminded Peng Yuan that he was good friends with Zhao Jin and knew him well. The colleague then subtly questioned Peng Yuan's own relationship with Cong Shan, advising him not to mention that matter to anyone.

Worried by Peng Yuan's suspicions, the colleague immediately called Xu Yang, relaying Peng Yuan's anger and warning both Xu Yang and Zhao Jin not to contact Xu Nuo or her best friend again. Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo later discussed their future. Xu Nuo confessed her deep affection, admitting it felt shameful to hold onto him but that she lacked the courage to let go.

She worried about others' perceptions if she broke up with Peng Yuan, fearing Zhao Jin might be labeled the "bad person." Zhao Jin dismissed this concern, stating he didn't care about being seen as the bad guy. Xu Nuo then reflected on her expectations for love and marriage, realizing her current relationship with Peng Yuan was not what she truly desired. She even wondered if she should thank Zhao Jin for giving her the courage to break up.

Zhao Jin, for his part, suggested that Peng Yuan wasn't necessarily unfaithful but was preoccupied with the practicalities of marriage, and that a relationship based solely on "facing it together" was a fantasy. He proposed they could act as strangers for a while, a suggestion Xu Nuo accepted for the present. Zhao Jin reassured her that if her feelings remained unchanged, she should come to him, and he would wait for her, even if she became an old woman.

As Zhao Jin left her home, Xu Nuo called him, telling him not to look back, or she would run and cling to him. She then made him promise not to be with anyone else while she worked through her situation, acknowledging her possessiveness but asserting her love for him made her fear losing him. Zhao Jin reaffirmed his commitment to wait for her, no matter how long it took. They continued chatting via text after their parting.

The next day at work, Xu Nuo was visibly smitten, happily recounting Zhao Jin's promise to wait for her to Cong Shan. Cong Shan, however, injected a note of caution, expressing concern about Xu Nuo's situation. She pointed out that Peng Yuan had already begun to suspect Zhao Jin, making it a critical and potentially dangerous time for Xu Nuo.

Meanwhile, Zhao Jin and Xu Yang were eating noodles when another colleague approached them, directly asking Zhao Jin why he had to like Xu Nuo, given she was Peng Yuan's girlfriend and they were all friends. Zhao Jin explained that he had known Xu Nuo and confessed his feelings before Peng Yuan introduced her, maintaining that they were just ordinary friends then, but now there was love between them.

When pressed about their relationship, Zhao Jin admitted Xu Nuo reciprocated his feelings. Despite the colleague's urging to make a definitive decision, Zhao Jin explained that Xu Nuo was already going through a difficult time breaking up with Peng Yuan, and he didn't want to add more pressure on her. Later, Xu Nuo attempted to meet with Peng Yuan, but he canceled via phone, saying he was entertaining an important investor.

Xu Nuo called him again, expressing her frustration that he always prioritized work over her and made her feel unimportant. She grew angry, stating she was tired of their cycle of arguments and his half-hearted apologies. Xu Nuo then declared she wanted to break up over the phone, but Peng Yuan refused, proposing they start over and insisting they meet face-to-face to discuss things properly, as a breakup shouldn't happen over the phone.

Feeling dejected and unable to resolve her relationship with Peng Yuan, Xu Nuo unconsciously found herself outside Zhao Jin's apartment building. Coincidentally, Zhao Jin and Xu Yang were emerging from the building. Xu Yang playfully teased them about living together. Zhao Jin, trying to diffuse the awkwardness, insisted on taking Xu Nuo to eat when he realized she hadn't eaten. During dinner, Zhao Jin flirtatiously declared his desire to "steal her away, take her home, and keep her."

Xu Nuo questioned if he would abandon her if she wasn't "easy to keep." She also asked about their friends' reactions to their relationship, to which Zhao Jin said their friends were more surprised by him. She pressed him on whether he had told them he would never date other women, and he admitted he hadn't thought about it so absolutely.

They continued their playful conversation, with Zhao Jin promising to share his secrets if she wished, while Xu Nuo teased him about not being able to keep secrets. The next day, Xu Yang brought a gift to Cong Shan, engaging in a discussion about Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo.

Cong Shan expressed her concern, recalling Peng Yuan's suspicious nature and predicting that if he discovered Xu Nuo's true feelings for Zhao Jin, the situation would become much more complicated, not just about feelings, but about his dignity. Xu Yang agreed, characterizing Peng Yuan as a strategic opponent who procrastinates until his adversary reveals a flaw, then strikes decisively. As Xu Yang walked Cong Shan home, they spotted Zhao Jin driving Xu Nuo back.

The four briefly met, resulting in an awkward exchange. Zhao Jin quickly said goodbye to Xu Nuo and left, while Xu Yang stayed with Cong Shan. Cong Shan then playfully told Xu Nuo that Zhao Jin had "cured everything" for her. Xu Nuo, still basking in Zhao Jin's words, retorted with a tease about Cong Shan's own burgeoning relationship with Xu Yang.

Xu Nuo revealed her plan to move out the next day, indicating a serious step in her personal life. Later, Xu Nuo met Peng Yuan for coffee. He apologized for standing her up and urged her to return to their previous dynamic. Xu Nuo, however, reiterated her unease with their relationship, acknowledging their problems but emphasizing that she never intended to break up.

Peng Yuan tried to downplay their issues, suggesting all long-term relationships have problems that can be solved if they just discuss them. Xu Nuo countered that matters of love couldn't be negotiated like a contract and rejected his suggestion to "let bygones be bygones." She expressed her deep dissatisfaction with a relationship that primarily required tolerance, questioning the point of being together if that was the case.

Peng Yuan attempted to appeal to her sense of security, suggesting marriage would resolve her concerns and promising to endure things and make their marriage last. Xu Nuo firmly rejected this, stating that if a relationship required only tolerance, it was meaningless. She declared, "Let's break up." Peng Yuan adamantly disagreed and tried to reconcile. As a last resort, he revealed that his father wanted to see her. Despite her clear intention to end the relationship, Xu Nuo ultimately agreed to visit his father.
