Xiao Xia and Yuan Chong continued their search for Hua Buqi. Yuan Chong expressed regret for his inability to protect Lady Buqi, acknowledging his martial arts skill was insufficient despite his efforts. Xiao Xia consoled him, urging him not to dwell on it and to eat. Meanwhile, Hua Buqi, held captive in the military camp, was determined to escape. Unable to devise a plan, she decided to use force, claiming she needed to use the facilities.

In her struggle with the guards, she injured her hand. Upon learning of her injury, Dongfang Shi berated his guards for their incompetence. He then dispatched a subordinate to summon Lin Dansha, a military doctor, to attend to the "patient," implying it was a female patient he couldn't personally treat due to gender. Lin Dansha arrived to examine Hua Buqi's wound. Dongfang Shi explained he couldn't touch "Zhu brat" himself.

Hua Buqi, in front of Dongfang Shi, defended the guards, admitting she injured herself in an escape attempt and vowed to keep trying, no matter who guarded her. Dongfang Shi, swayed by her words, spared the guards but warned them of severe punishment if Hua Buqi was harmed again. Lin Dansha then requested Dongfang Shi to leave the tent to properly examine Hua Buqi. Inside, Hua Buqi inquired about Yun Lang and Mo Ruofei.

Lin Dansha revealed that Yun Lang was now a general, and Mo Ruofei had been appointed a general leading a thousand soldiers by Dongfang Shi. Lin Dansha also remarked on Mo Ruofei's "predicaments" and, with a hint of jealousy, commented on Hua Buqi's charm, saying every man she met seemed to fall for her, but Hua Buqi lamented the suffering she endured behind the facade.

Lin Dansha then shared that her marriage to Yun Lang was postponed due to the ongoing conflicts. Hua Buqi asked Lin Dansha for sedatives to aid in an escape, explaining she had someone to save. Lin Dansha refused, citing the danger outside and the wanted poster for Hua Buqi, and also mentioning that she and Yun Lang were now serving Dongfang Shi, making it perilous to help her. Hua Buqi apologized for not considering their predicament.

Lin Dansha treated Hua Buqi's superficial wound, advising her to rest and avoid infection, then reiterated her inability to help due to the hardships she and Yun Lang faced. Hua Buqi understood. After Lin Dansha left, Dongfang Shi visited Hua Buqi, noting her rapid recovery from the calming incense he had given her.

The two quarreled, with Hua Buqi confronting him and questioning his ability to protect her from his grandfather, Xiao Jiufeng, who might sacrifice her for the Biluotian treasure. She declared that if Chen Yu and Grandfather Zhu died, she would not live on. She also accused Dongfang Shi of launching war for his own self-interest, having no regard for the common people, and being unworthy of the throne.

Dongfang Shi solemnly promised to do his utmost to protect her, insisting she focus on healing, and vowed to personally watch over her to prevent her escape. Soon after, Dongfang Shi was informed of General Xu's dire situation in Luzhou, an urgent message from his grandfather, Xiao Jiufeng. He immediately prepared to depart.

Before leaving, Lin Dansha secretly gave Hua Buqi silver needles coated with a sedative, explaining how to use them to incapacitate someone and how the small wounds would heal before Dongfang Shi's return, hopefully deceiving him. She stressed the extreme danger to herself if discovered. Hua Buqi thanked her gratefully. Dongfang Shi quickly realized the Luzhou report was a ruse to lure him away, orchestrated by Xiao Jiufeng. He severely punished the messenger.

Back at the camp, Hua Buqi attempted to use the sedative needles on a guard but was quickly discovered and restrained, calling for help. Xiao Jiufeng appeared, revealing himself as Dongfang Shi's grandfather, the man who had sought a marriage alliance with the House of Zhu years ago. He demanded Hua Buqi reveal the location of the holy object and map, which he believed Chen Yu possessed.

Hua Buqi feigned ignorance, claiming Chen Yu had only spoken of her as the Saintess, not of any map or object. Xiao Jiufeng, not as patient as Dongfang Shi, forced a potent poison down her throat, designed to cause agonizing, knife-like pain without killing her. He intended to torture her until she divulged the information. As Hua Buqi writhed in pain, Dongfang Shi suddenly returned, furiously demanding the antidote from Xiao Jiufeng.

Xiao Jiufeng questioned Dongfang Shi's loyalty, reminding him of his military plans and how a woman was distracting him. Dongfang Shi asserted his conviction that the Luzhou report was false and insisted on the antidote. Xiao Jiufeng refused to yield until Hua Buqi revealed the treasure's location. Dongfang Shi, proclaiming his love and refusal to sacrifice her, declared he would rather suffer her pain himself. To force his grandfather's hand, he stabbed his own right arm with a dagger.

Shocked by his grandson's act, Xiao Jiufeng reluctantly provided the antidote. Hua Buqi, recovering, bandaged Dongfang Shi's wound. She then attempted to leave to save Chen Yu and her grandfather, but Dongfang Shi, despite his injury, blocked her path, refusing to let her endanger herself outside his protection. Meanwhile, in the imperial palace, Chen Yu and Grandfather Zhu faced imminent execution. Liu Qingwu, deeply worried, urged Chen Yu, whom she called Zhangqing, to escape with her.

Chen Yu refused, claiming he had his own method of leaving. Liu Qingwu, knowing that everyone believed his martial arts were crippled, confronted him. She realized he had feigned his disability to lower the Emperor's guard and planned to save Grandfather Zhu. Unwilling to see Chen Yu reunited with Hua Buqi, Liu Qingwu threatened to expose his deception if he tried to escape alone. Just then, the Emperor arrived, and Liu Qingwu quickly hid.

The Emperor informed Chen Yu that half the country's territory had fallen to rebels and foreign invaders. He urged Chen Yu, as the Lotus Robe Knight, to hand over Hua Buqi, the Biluotian Saintess, to secure the Biluotian treasure, which he believed would save the empire. Chen Yu refused, stating he could not decide Hua Buqi's fate, as she was the love of his life.

The Emperor, infuriated, questioned if Hua Buqi's life was more important than thousands of citizens and declared Chen Yu unworthy of his titles and his nephew, threatening to decide Chen Yu's life himself. He then stormed out. Liu Qingwu reappeared, again pleading with Chen Yu to leave with her. Chen Yu, however, incapacitated her, leaving a letter.

In it, he thanked her for her affection, saying he could only repay it in the next life, and wished her a good life as an imperial consort, free from other concerns. Chen Yu then attempted to escape the palace disguised as an eunuch, but was discovered by Bai Jianfei and recaptured.

The Emperor, furious that Chen Yu had feigned his crippled martial arts, threatened Grandfather Zhu's life and ordered Chen Yu to lead a mere dozen secret guards from the celestial prison against Dongfang Shi's army of hundreds of thousands. Liu Qingwu was distraught, realizing this was a death sentence for Chen Yu. Separately, the Emperor announced his decision to personally lead the army to the front lines, and Bai Jianfei eagerly volunteered to accompany him, earning the Emperor's praise for his loyalty.
