Gu Qingqiao and Duan Yu found Shaoyi hiding by a wall, stripped of his clothes. Shaoyi explained that a girl named Wu had robbed him. Gu Qingqiao told Shaoyi that in their previous lives, he and Wu had been destined to be together, but their relationship was cut short when the Sacred Blood Sect massacred the entire Fire Crane Tribe, Wu's people.
Knowing that Gu Qingqiao and her companions would seek Ruan Siqiong in Xiling, the Sacred Blood Sect anticipated their arrival. To avoid immediate detection upon entering Xiling, Gu Qingqiao devised a plan in Qingshui Town. They had an innkeeper loudly announce that Ruan Siqiong, the matchless man, was dining there, hoping to lure him out. Instead of Ruan Siqiong, Lu Zizheng arrived.
Wang Tianshan, the leader of Xiling, encountered Gu Qingqiao and recognized her as someone who, like Lu Zizheng, retained memories of a previous life. When Gu Qingqiao fainted, Wang Tianshan helped Duan Yu and Shaoyi evade Lu Zizheng. Wang Tianshan guided the three of them discreetly to Xiling and concealed them within the Jiuqing Secret Cave. Lu Zizheng discovered that Gu Qingqiao had reached Qingshui Town but could not find her despite searching the whole town.
Realizing they must have gone to Xiling, he arrived there and demanded Wang Tianshan take him to the Jiuqing Secret Cave, threatening to kill Xiling disciples if he refused. Wang Tianshan questioned Lu Zizheng's obsession with the past life and his cruel actions in this life, including forcing Xiling disciples into roles they did not want, and asked him what he truly desired, suggesting killing only brought fear, not recognition.
Lu Zizheng expressed his desire to be accepted by the world and not viewed as an outsider, lamenting that despite his efforts and sacrifices in this life, he felt repeatedly disappointed and abandoned by those he cherished and still found himself on the same path as before, stained with the blood of his sect brothers.

Gu Qingqiao successfully drew the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword. Recognizing her as the sword seeker, Ruan Siqiong confirmed he had been waiting for her.
Gu Qingqiao stressed the need for them to leave quickly, as Lu Zizheng had discovered their presence in Xiling and might find the cave soon, urging Ruan Siqiong to take care of himself. Gu Qingqiao left Xiling with the Black Wood Human-shaped Sword, accompanied by Duan Yu and Shaoyi, but they were ambushed by the Sacred Blood Sect.
Lu Zizheng appeared and confronted Gu Qingqiao, asking why she always chose against him, even though he was the first person she met in the previous life and could offer her everything in this one. He demanded she hand over the Four Treasures and return to Xiling as his junior sister, promising to spare her companions. Gu Qingqiao refused to trust him and told him his own actions were why everyone opposed him.
Ruan Siqiong then arrived and attempted to deter Lu Zizheng by feigning his past life identity as the matchless fighter. However, Lu Zizheng quickly exposed this as a deception, claiming he had already gained the sword's power and Ruan was merely a fake burdened by past obsession. As the Xiling disciples, led by Bao Quancai and Huahua, rushed forward to protect Gu Qingqiao and her companions, urging them to escape, Lu Zizheng struck them down.
Gu Qingqiao, Duan Yu, and Shaoyi managed to flee amidst the sacrifice of the Xiling disciples. They fled towards the Divine Palace, hoping to find Master Kongkong. Upon entering the palace grounds, they were discovered by Ruoyun. Shaoyi told Gu Qingqiao and Duan Yu to continue ahead, volunteering to hold off Ruoyun to distract her.
He reassured them he would not die, reminding Gu Qingqiao of her promise and stating he was no longer an orphan and had family in her. He handed something important to Gu Qingqiao before engaging Ruoyun. Gu Qingqiao and Duan Yu proceeded into the Divine Palace, noting the absence of the miasma that usually surrounded it.
They soon realized that the people inside were not true priests but Sacred Blood Sect disciples in disguise, confirming they had walked into a trap. They attempted to run, but Ruoyun revealed that her master had deliberately allowed them to enter, implying a larger plan centered on Gu Qingqiao. Within the Divine Palace, Lu Zizheng spoke with Master Kongkong, whom he had confined for fifteen years since his rebirth.
Lu Zizheng recounted his hopes after rebirth – to have a happy family, a loving sect, and an admired lover, just like Duan Yu. He lamented that despite starting over, he ended up on the same path, having killed members of his own sect. Master Kongkong told him he was trapped by his obsession.
Lu Zizheng admitted he considered giving up revenge and staying in Xiling but felt repeatedly disappointed and abandoned by those he wanted to cherish, leading him to feel unwilling to relinquish his path. Shaoyi continued to fight Ruoyun, asserting his combat skills and his promise not to die, but he was ultimately no match for her. Meanwhile, Gu Qingqiao and Duan Yu were pursued by numerous disguised disciples. With no other escape route, they ran into a dark cave. Strangely, the pursuers stopped at the cave entrance and did not follow them inside. Duan Yu used a fire starter to light a torch, illuminating the darkness.
