Following the drunken kiss he doesn't seem to remember, Zhou Jianqing confides in Su Youxia, unsure how to determine Gu Nanzhou's true feelings. After initially thinking Gu Nanzhou was a scoundrel, Su Youxia speculates he was simply intoxicated and might have mistaken Zhou Jianqing for someone else. Seeking answers, they watch a TV show where a love expert, "Ms. Pan," explains that men show clear, proactive signs of interest.
The show then advertises Ms. Pan's online love course, which both girls dismiss as a scam. Simultaneously, Gu Nanzhou visits a jewelry store, looking for a ring that would give a girl the "impulse to marry" him. Describing his girlfriend as strong, a lover of stinky food and horror movies, and a "special girl," he rejects a limited edition ring as too ordinary and chooses a unique diamond ring, the "one and only in the city."
Meanwhile, despite her skepticism, Zhou Jianqing buys Ms. Pan's online love course. Inspired by the first lesson's advice to highlight one's physical advantages, she meticulously applies makeup and prepares a lavish dinner. When Gu Nanzhou returns home, he acts strangely, trying to hide the ring he bought. Zhou Jianqing anxiously tries to get his attention, but her efforts backfire spectacularly. Gu Nanzhou comments that her "heavy makeup" looks like a "Halloween" costume.
When she poses by tilting her head, he asks if she has a stiff neck and offers ointment. Her attempt to pour him wine is rebuffed when he insists on doing it himself, recalling advice to be a gentleman. Finally, when she runs a hand through her hair, he approaches only to pull off her double eyelid tape. Frustrated, Zhou Jianqing retreats to her room and unlocks the next lesson, which suggests creating a "power outage" to foster intimacy.
Following the course's advice, Zhou Jianqing orchestrates a power outage. She finds Gu Nanzhou in his room, where he had been practicing a marriage proposal with the ring hidden inside a cake. When questioned about her whereabouts, she guiltily lies. Zhou Jianqing then discovers Gu Nanzhou eating her "exclusive strawberry mousse." He dismissively offers to pay her back but then suddenly feels sick from the cake.
Enraged and misinterpreting his physical reaction, Zhou Jianqing confronts him, demanding to know why he had kissed her during their camping trip. Seeing him looking ill, she angrily asks if kissing her was "so disgusting." After securing a new job as a department manager, Zhou Zixuan returns home and overhears Zhou Jianqing telling Su Youxia she will cut ties with Gu Nanzhou once her debt is paid. He furiously confronts his sister for "selling herself" to pay his debt.
During their heated argument, Su Youxia intervenes, revealing that Zhou Zixuan had secretly arranged all of Zhou Jianqing's "lucky draw" winnings over the years, wanting to support her without making her feel burdened. She explains he is saving money to rebuild their family's hotel. Surprised, Zhou Jianqing playfully asks Su Youxia if she has a crush on her brother, which Su Youxia awkwardly denies.
Zhou Zixuan confronts Gu Nanzhou and demands he terminate the agreement, declaring he will take over the debt. Gu Nanzhou refuses, confessing he has fallen in love with Zhou Jianqing. As proof, he shows Zhou Zixuan the ring he bought. Realizing Gu Nanzhou is serious, Zhou Zixuan, despite calling him "stupid" for planning a proposal before a confession, agrees to help him confess his feelings in exchange for Gu Nanzhou's promise to take good care of Zhou Jianqing.
Zhou Jianqing and Zhou Zixuan quickly reconcile and apologize to each other. When Zhou Zixuan remarks on how close his sister has become with Su Youxia, Zhou Jianqing again playfully asks if he has a crush on her. After he denies it, she sternly warns him not to "harm" her best friend. To celebrate winning a scholarship, Zhou Jianqing arranges for Zhou Zixuan to pick up Su Youxia for a steak dinner.
However, Zhou Zixuan deliberately drives Su Youxia to the riverside, explaining that leaving the other two alone is "the best present." Before she can react, he kisses her. A shocked Su Youxia reveals it was her first kiss. Zhou Zixuan then confesses that he has loved her for a long time, even before she liked him, and had resorted to bullying her just to get her attention.
Back home, Zhou Jianqing grows anxious when she can't reach her brother or Su Youxia. Gu Nanzhou calmly informs her that Zhou Zixuan had called to say they wouldn't be coming, revealing the two men had conspired to give them an evening alone. He serves her steak he specially ordered "medium-rare." Later, he awkwardly brings up the night he kissed her, stammering that he "would be responsible" for his actions.
