Zhang Wuji learned from Master Zhu that Second Master Yao had brought Xie Xun back. Because Xie Xun had saved Zhang Cuishan, they swore to protect Xie Xun at all costs, considering it repayment for Zhang Cuishan's life-saving grace back then. Zhang Wuji was eager to inquire about Xie Xun's situation, but Master Zhu worried that enemies would come looking for him, so he didn't bother to explain further.

He sent people to surround the manor, inside and out, with straw soaked in tung oil, and then lit the straw. In an instant, a raging fire spread, and the manor was burned to ruins. Xie Xun was hidden in the manor's cellar. After Master Zhu lit the straw, he and Zhu Jiuzhen took Zhang Wuji to the cellar. From the opening, they identified five groups of people coming to seek revenge on Xie Xun.

Those people searched everywhere, inside and out, but after not finding Xie Xun's whereabouts, they withdrew one after another. Master Zhu then took Zhang Wuji to the innermost part of the cellar. As Second Master Yao just stepped forward to inquire about Xie Xun's injuries, he was mistaken for an enemy and knocked to the ground with a punch. Master Zhu hurriedly went over to explain, but Xie Xun wouldn't listen at all, punching and kicking him.

Zhang Wuji carefully observed Xie Xun's every move and instantly saw that he was an impostor. He exposed him on the spot. Zhang Wuji had to admit that he was Zhang Cuishan's son and Xie Xun was his godfather, but the person in front of him was clearly an impostor because Xie Xun's eyes were already blind. The fake Xie Xun became furious, lashing out at Zhang Wuji.

Second Master Yao immediately stepped in to help but was severely injured by Xie Xun. Master Zhu seized the opportunity to strike Xie Xun's acupoints. Zhang Wuji gave Master Zhu a detailed account of his parents' and Xie Xun's experiences on Ice and Fire Island. Master Zhu proposed meeting Xie Xun. Zhang Wuji readily agreed to take them to Ice and Fire Island. The four of them came to a farmstead belonging to the Zhu family.

Master Zhu instructed Second Master Yao to prepare a boat; he wanted to depart for Ice and Fire Island as soon as his injuries healed. That night, Zhu Jiuzhen secretly came to Zhang Wuji's room and sealed his acupoints. Fortunately, Xie Xun had taught him how to unseal acupoints beforehand, so Zhang Wuji easily freed himself. He quietly went outside and saw Zhu Jiuzhen meeting with her cousin.

He mistakenly thought that Zhu Jiuzhen sealed his acupoints because she didn't want him to disrupt their rendezvous. Unexpectedly, Master Zhu suddenly appeared, repeatedly instructing Zhu Jiuzhen to keep a close eye on Zhang Wuji. Then they returned to the room to discuss their plans for Ice and Fire Island. Zhang Wuji tiptoed to the window and discovered that the impostor Xie Xun was actually in league with Master Zhu. All previous events were carefully designed traps by them.

They were now discussing poisoning Xie Xun to death and stealing his Dragon Slaying Saber. Zhu Jiuzhen wanted to kill Zhang Wuji after their plan succeeded. Master Zhu proposed gouging out Zhang Wuji's eyes and then abandoning him on Ice and Fire Island to fend for himself. Zhang Wuji was so angry that he gritted his teeth. He didn't bother to think too much and fled overnight.

Early the next morning, Master Zhu and others searched everywhere in the mountain forest for Zhang Wuji. Due to his weak and sickly physique, Zhang Wuji was quickly discovered. He dragged his frail body, running frantically all the way to the edge of a cliff. Master Zhu continued to feign an attitude of gratitude, earnestly persuading Zhang Wuji to return with them. Zhang Wuji exposed their long-standing tricks to their faces.

Zhu Jiuzhen, looking pitiful, tried to persuade Zhang Wuji and even threatened to die to prove her sincerity. Zhang Wuji hurriedly stepped forward to stop her. Master Zhu took the opportunity to subdue Zhang Wuji. Zhang Wuji struggled desperately and, taking Master Zhu with him, leaped off the cliff. Zhang Wuji and Master Zhu fortunately caught onto a tree branch. It took both of them immense effort to escape to an open clearing.

Master Zhu was unwilling to give up, so he forced Zhang Wuji to escape with him to search for the Dragon Slaying Saber. Zhang Wuji flatly refused. Master Zhu pressed him step by step, so Zhang Wuji had no choice but to hide in a narrow cave nearby. Master Zhu followed closely, but the cave was too small, so he had to retreat. Zhang Wuji could only crawl on his belly to barely pass through.

After crawling for a long time, he finally exited the cave. Outside the cave was a towering waterfall, surrounded by layers of mountains, filled with the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, like a fairyland on earth. Zhang Wuji happily cried out to the sky. He picked wild fruits to satisfy his hunger and also called for Master Zhu to come through the cave, but he was too fat to pass.

Zhou Zhiruo was cooking in the kitchen with her fellow senior disciples. Ding Minjun sent Jing Xuan and Jing Hui to rush them to finish cooking and go practice, otherwise, they would all be punished. Zhou Zhiruo volunteered to take on the remaining tasks, allowing her senior disciples to go practice on time. Ding Minjun led the junior disciples in practice, gesticulating and criticizing them.

When Zhou Zhiruo brought the prepared meals, she was also scolded by Ding Minjun, who forced her to practice swordplay with them. Zhou Zhiruo had no choice but to comply. Zhou Zhiruo went to the river to wash clothes and accidentally saw a rabbit that had hit a tree and was injured. She helped bandage the rabbit's wound, and the rabbit quickly ran away. At night, Zhou Zhiruo seized every available moment to practice martial arts.

Abbess Miejue happened to pass by and only then realized how diligent Zhou Zhiruo was. Because she had too many chores during the day, she practiced every night. Abbess Miejue felt deeply comforted. Zhang Wuji went up the mountain to pick fruits and down to the river to catch fish, and each time he threw them through the narrow passage of the cave for Master Zhu to share. Zhang Wuji accidentally saw an injured monkey and bandaged its wound.

The monkey and Zhang Wuji gradually became acquainted and even helped him pick fruits. Days passed by like this. Abbess Miejue taught her disciples a set of Miejue Swordplay and had them spar with each other. Ding Minjun was the first to step forward to challenge, and she quickly knocked all the junior female disciples to the ground. Abbess Miejue had Jing Xuan and Jing Hui fight together, but they were defeated within a few moves.

Abbess Miejue told Zhou Zhiruo to confront her, but she felt clumsy and was willing to concede defeat. Abbess Miejue was furious and severely reprimanded her. Ding Minjun launched an attack, and Zhou Zhiruo had no choice but to draw her sword to retaliate. With her agile movements and superb swordplay, she subdued Ding Minjun. Abbess Miejue criticized her for practicing randomly and told her she should practice step by step according to the proper routine.

Ding Minjun deliberately picked a fight, claiming the food was unpalatable. She slapped Zhou Zhiruo hard, then publicly ridiculed her, hurled insults, relentlessly pressured Zhou Zhiruo, and even knocked her into the water, yet Zhou Zhiruo tolerated it everywhere.
