Ministers presented themselves to the Emperor. Both the court and the common people were dissatisfied with Qi Sheng's decision to go on an expedition to Beimo. Just as the ministers and Qi Sheng were at an impasse, Qi Hao and Zhang Pengpeng successively ran into the council hall. Looking at his son, Qi Sheng's paternal love swelled, and his mood improved. Zhang Pengpeng, watching their deep father-son bond, felt greatly comforted.
The ministers discussed that it was inappropriate for the Emperor and the Prince to be together. Qi Sheng, however, stated that Qi Hao would be the future monarch. Zhang Pengpeng felt a mix of emotions upon hearing Qi Sheng's words. Qi Sheng told the ministers that his decision to go on an expedition to Beimo was final. Zhang Pengpeng had doubts about Qi Sheng's intention to pass the throne to Qi Hao, but Qi Sheng could not understand her thoughts.
Qi Sheng suggested teaching Zhang Pengpeng how to review memorials, but Zhang Pengpeng misunderstood that Qi Sheng wanted to have an intimate relationship with her. Qi Sheng taught Zhang Pengpeng how to use "approve, disapprove, read, discuss" when reviewing memorials, but Zhang Pengpeng completely ignored him. Qi Sheng and Zhang Pengpeng conducted physical training together. Zhang Pengpeng, gazing at Qi Sheng's robust physique, felt her affection grow stronger. The jealous Ninth Prince and Yang Yan then started dancing. The Ninth Prince even, in his confusion, mistook Yang Yan for Zhang Pengpeng. Yang Yan advised the Ninth Prince to be open-minded and to understand Zhang Pengpeng's helplessness. In order to spend a night of passion with Qi Sheng, Zhang Pengpeng put Jinge in Qi Sheng's tea, but Qi Sheng did not drink it.
Qi Sheng found Zhang Pengpeng's significant change strange, and said that when he liked someone, he liked her true nature, reminding her to just be herself. Zhang Pengpeng did not understand Qi Sheng's expectations of her. Qi Sheng explained that the reason he rigorously trained her was because he was going on an expedition to Beimo. If anything were to happen to him, Zhang Pengpeng would need to assist Qi Hao. Qi Sheng's painstaking efforts deeply moved Zhang Pengpeng.
Zhang Pengpeng was finally completely conquered by Qi Sheng. With mutual affection, they spent a night of passion together. The Zhang Peng within Zhang Pengpeng finally completely accepted this body, and her mind and body became one.
