Love in Pavilion Episode 12 Recap
> Love in Pavilion Recap
While Yang Yitan was unconscious and unable to take medicine on his own, Wangquan Zui recalled a storybook method and tried feeding him the medicine mouth-to-mouth—but it didn’t work at all. Left with no choice, Wangquan Zui decided to try anything that might help. Fortunately, Yang Yitan’s weakened state made him susceptible to mental influence. He obediently woke up and drank all the medicine. Though it was only a small wound, it kept bleeding.
From his response, Wangquan Zui learned that he was born with a condition that prevented blood from clotting. Losing too much blood, Yang Yitan felt cold all over, so Wangquan Zui held him close to pass on her warmth. According to Jia Lan’s game rules, Wangquan Hongye and Huaizhu were bound to lose. Huaizhu demanded a different game. Jia Lan proposed a contest of hand seal speed. Huaizhu helped Wangquan Hongye control the flames and broke Jia Lan’s seal.
Jia Lan accused them of cheating and furiously tried to poison them. But then she unexpectedly recognized Huaizhu and changed tactics. She sent the two of them to a location, ordering them to kill each other—whoever survived could leave through the water. That place turned out to be the Bamboo Pavilion By River Huai, though Dongfang Huaizhu didn’t remember it.
Jia Lan had created this illusion to completely erase the love hidden deep in Dongfang Huaizhu’s heart, believing that only by doing so could Huaizhu become a suitable vessel. At first, Huaizhu naïvely believed Jia Lan and prepared to fight Wangquan Hongye to the death. This was a mindscape—if someone died here, their consciousness would perish too, rendering them no different from the living dead.
Wangquan Hongye said that if one of them had to die, it would never be Dongfang Huaizhu. Wangquan Hongye took Dongfang Huaizhu to the place where they had once watched the sunset together, hoping it would stir her memories. But Huaizhu took advantage of his unguarded moment and stabbed a knife into his chest. With his final breath, Wangquan Hongye warned Huaizhu not to believe anything Jiuhuo said. Wangquan Hongye died within the illusion, and Huaizhu awoke.
As for Jiuhuo and Wangquan Hongye, Huaizhu trusted neither—she only believed in herself. She deliberately sought to extract information from Jia Lan. Jia Lan was born from the Bitter Love Tree of Mount Tu. The elders foresaw that her fate was cursed and tricked her into entering a barrier, promising that she could leave once she grew a Bitter Love Tree. Jia Lan planted one out of hatred—a black tree—and in doing so, killed many fox demons.
That was when Jiuhuo appeared and brought her back to Biluo City under his protection. Once Huaizhu learned all this, her goal was achieved. She absorbed the last remnants of Jia Lan’s soul completely—their demonic auras were identical and fused flawlessly. There was still one missing fragment of the Golden Morning Light. Ye Yuan had no choice but to reveal that the leech demon had escaped.
Jiuhuo ordered it to be found quickly, or he would use Ye Yuan to patch the Golden Morning Light himself. Huaizhu returned safely to Biluo City, but grew even more suspicious of Jiuhuo. Just like in Hanging Mountain, she tried to dig into his past with Jia Lan. According to Jiuhuo, after he brought Jia Lan back to Biluo City, Mount Tu allied with the Dragon Clan to hunt him down and stole his demon core.
Jia Lan fought the dragons alone, reclaimed his demon core, and saved him. The two became each other’s only companion. But their happiness was short-lived. The Demon-Taming Kingdom coveted Jia Lan’s power to command legions of demons, captured Jiuhuo, imprisoned him in their underground palace, and lured Jia Lan into a trap. What happened in that palace was a memory Jiuhuo least wanted to revisit.
When Wangquan Hongye was mentioned, Dongfang Huaizhu appeared indifferent, saying that the Yiqi Alliance’s humans, who had blood on their hands, only wanted her demon power and deserved to die.
