First Love Episode 12 Recap
> First Love Recap
Troubled that Ren Chu must have overheard her confessing she didn't like him, Lu Wanwan worried he was upset but felt any attempt to explain would seem delusional. As final exams approached, Lu Wanwan prepared for her last tests before transferring departments, telling Gu Qiao she would give him her anatomy model, Loulou, afterward. Meanwhile, a dejected Ren Chu sought advice from six senior students at the swimming pool.
He disguised his romantic troubles as an "academic problem" about two AIs, Alpha and Beta, failing to form a close relationship, which his seniors correctly identified as a "love question" and offered superficial advice. Meng Xibai, having discovered Wang Xinyu lied about participating in her dance performance, found her and gave her study notes he had compiled. Touched, Wang Xinyu offered to be his volunteer for medical practice like acupuncture or cupping.
Meng Xibai gently declined, explaining he wasn't a Chinese medicine student and only wanted her to focus on her studies without letting their relationship affect her grades. Following his seniors' advice to use "differentiated treatment," Ren Chu brought a soy milk specifically for Lu Wanwan to the library, which only made her find him strange. When Lu Wanwan returned from washing her face, she saw Guan Ai sitting in her spot asking Ren Chu for help.
Believing the "campus king" and "campus queen" were a good match, Lu Wanwan decided not to disturb them and left. After the final exams, Lu Wanwan and Gu Qiao were overjoyed to learn they had placed eighth in their professional competition. Later, Ren Chu returned a book Lu Wanwan had left behind, questioning if she had deliberately set him up with Guan Ai. Lu Wanwan deflected, instead inviting him to her "farewell dinner" that night.
Upset by the mention of a farewell, Ren Chu immediately refused the invitation. However, he changed his mind after Fan Yi informed him the post-dinner plan was a live performance at a dimly lit, crowded venue filled with attractive people. That evening, Lu Wanwan went shopping for a new dress and high heels, brushing off Gu Qiao's concern that she couldn't walk in them. At the party, Guan Ai joined Ren Chu and Fan Yi.
Meng Xibai was in a foul mood the entire time, having confirmed his suspicions by seeing for himself that Wang Xinyu was absent from her dance showcase. During the live show, a sudden power outage plunged the venue into chaos. Ren Chu grabbed Lu Wanwan, who had nearly fallen, and guided her safely outside. When she teased him for holding her sleeve like he was "walking a dog," he claimed holding her hand would be improper if Guan Ai saw.
Noticing Lu Wanwan's feet were blistered, Ren Chu bought medical supplies, treated her wounds, and gave her comfortable slippers. He then asked if they were friends, stating friends shouldn't deceive each other, and told her to stop trying to set him up with Guan Ai. He compared her actions to adding a variable to his Alpha and Beta experiment before the initial results were clear.
He also expressed his strong disapproval of her decision to transfer, arguing she was giving up too easily. Lu Wanwan retorted that the clinical major wasn't for her and she'd rather leave with dignity. Ren Chu insisted he would fight for something he chose, and that other majors would definitely not suit her. Angered by his condescending tone, Lu Wanwan argued back, but he quieted her by gently taking her cold hands to warm them.
Later, Gu Qiao found Lu Wanwan and asked why she had given him Loulou. She explained she was transferring because the major didn't suit her, admitting she had only chosen it to follow An Jiaxian. In response, Gu Qiao took her to a classroom and played a video from their first white coat ceremony.
In the footage, a passionate Lu Wanwan declared that despite choosing the clinical department by chance, she would never easily give up on it, calling the white coat her "armor and faith." Moved by her own past words, Lu Wanwan tearfully decided to stay. She vowed to remain in the clinical department, learn valuable skills, save patients from death, and become a doctor worthy of her white coat.
