Destiny's Love Episode 8 Recap
> Destiny's Love Recap
Tang Mao instructed his assistant to pinpoint the location of the phone number that sent him the anonymous message. He then visited Wen Suxi in her hospital room, where he had bodyguards posted at the door. Lin Haoshu arrived with fruits but was denied entry by the bodyguards, who stated that Mr. Tang was inside and Miss Wen needed rest. Frustrated, Lin Haoshu left.
Later, You You took the fruits from Lin Haoshu, noting their expensive nature given his usual frugality. She ate them, speculating that Chi Yu might also be interested in Wen Suxi, just like Tang Mao, who had tried to buy Wen Suxi's house before Chi Yu did. After Tang Mao departed, Chi Yu skillfully distracted the bodyguards and entered Wen Suxi’s room. He found her in the throes of a nightmare and, entering her dream, reassured her.
Within the dream, Chi Yu transported Wen Suxi to various beautiful locations, including Bourges, France, which she recalled for its exquisite handmade chocolate. He also brought her to a house, which she instantly recognized as her own—the one he had recently purchased. Handing her a key, he warned her not to lose it, explaining that dreams were a dimension where quantum avatars wander, revealing one's true thoughts.
Wen Suxi awoke feeling that her dream was peculiar yet imbued with a subtle sweetness. She later discussed it with You You, initially framing it as a hypothetical plot idea about a gentle man who unexpectedly shows affection to a woman. You You, confused, eventually asked if Wen Suxi had dreamed of someone, to which Wen Suxi vaguely replied she was just thinking of a creative idea.
You You then commended Tang Mao for handling all the hospital affairs and asked if Wen Suxi felt any affection for him. Wen Suxi dodged the question and changed the subject, becoming annoyed when You You persisted in asking about signing Chi Yu. Cai Shumeng held a business dinner with Mr. Ren and others, including Duo La, to discuss her upcoming film.
Mr. Ren announced the success of Cai Shumeng's latest movie and her plan to immediately produce a new one. Jokes were made about potential film titles such as "Beethoven Let's Break Up," "Tesla, Knock It Off," and "Dorgon, Get Lost." Cai Shumeng intended to cast Duo La as the lead actress. Duo La, however, declined the role, stating that the script didn't align with her image.
When offered the chance to have the role tailored to her, Duo La made pointed remarks about Wen Suxi being a rare producer who understood storytelling, indirectly criticizing Cai Shumeng. She then excused herself, citing a packed schedule despite attempts to persuade her to stay and eat. Cai Shumeng, disgruntled by Duo La's departure, commented on her similar "bad temper" to Wen Suxi. In Wen Suxi's room, her father brought her medicine, playfully commenting on a "cute" young nurse.
He inquired about her future plans, and Wen Suxi shared her ambition to establish her own company and produce films she genuinely enjoyed. Her father expressed his full support. Wen Suxi, however, noticed his demeanor had reverted to his former, less expressive self and asked him why he had changed back, implying she preferred his more open and exaggerated behavior from the past two days. He encouraged her to focus on her recovery and avoid worrying him.
Wen Suxi playfully asked about his rumored dancing teacher, which he dismissed as a fabricated story, though she noted his sincerity. He informed her he would be flying home that afternoon, suggesting they communicate more via WeChat. Wen Suxi proposed a family vacation for the Chinese New Year, extending an invitation to his dance teacher and assuring him she understood his past feelings for her mother.
Her father advised her to carefully consider the character of the men around her, particularly praising Lin Haoshu as reliable and consistently kind. Wen Suxi, who had been reading Lin Haoshu's manga and recognized his talent, agreed. Her father suggested she partner with Lin Haoshu for her new company, hinting at fostering a romantic relationship. Wen Suxi clarified that they were already like family, having grown up together, and affirmed Lin Haoshu shared her sentiment.
He concluded by advising her not to be overly forward in relationships. After a tender farewell, her father carried her affectionately, promising his unwavering support for her new venture, then departed. Wang Xiaomi met Lin Haoshu after his class and led him to a train crossing. She pointed out its frequent appearance in his manga, questioning its special significance. Lin Haoshu dismissed it as merely a plot device.
Wang Xiaomi pressed him for the manga's unresolved ending, specifically the words shouted by the male protagonist before a train passes. She then boldly guessed he had wanted to declare "I love you!" Lin Haoshu, startled, denied it, revealing that the confession "I love you, Wen Suxi!" was meant for Wen Suxi, the heroine of his manga. Wang Xiaomi challenged him, asking why he wouldn't tell Wen Suxi directly.
Lin Haoshu confessed that he preferred to keep his feelings hidden forever rather than risk losing her friendship. He explained that overcoming this deep-seated affection would be too costly, as it would mean losing all the cherished memories of their past and every aspiration for their future, leaving his life devoid of meaning. Moved by his sincerity, Wang Xiaomi courageously ran to the opposite side of the tracks and declared her love for Lin Haoshu.
She explained that she had seen nine "T"s throughout her day, interpreting "T" as "Tree" for Lin Haoshu, and felt it was a sign of "AQ" (Love in Mandarin). She initiated a 30-second countdown, stating that if a train passed before it ended, he had to agree to be her boyfriend. However, even as a train appeared and passed by during her countdown, Lin Haoshu firmly refused her confession.
Lin Haoshu later visited Wen Suxi in the hospital, who had just finished reading his manga. She eagerly pressed him for the ending, also announcing her decision to adapt his manga for her new company, confident in its market appeal to women with themes of youth, nostalgia, romance, love, and comedy. She praised the male lead, confessing that she would "fall for him" if such a man existed in real life.
Inspired by her words, Lin Haoshu, having overcome his past fears of failure and loss, confessed his decision to change. He declared his intention to stop running away, seize every opportunity, and become someone Wen Suxi could depend on. Wen Suxi was overjoyed by his declaration, revealing that she too wanted a fresh start, establishing her own company to make films she was passionate about, and expressing her serious commitment to adapting his manga.
As Lin Haoshu prepared to elaborate, Tang Mao arrived to take Wen Suxi out for dinner. Wen Suxi, brushing off Lin Haoshu's confusion, told him it was a "BFF secret" and left with Tang Mao. At dinner, Tang Mao noted the famous Lobster Bisque that Wen Suxi couldn't enjoy due to her injury. Wen Suxi offered to repay him for her medical expenses. Tang Mao then brought up Chi Yu's purchase of her house.
Wen Suxi confirmed she was aware but stated she wouldn't move back, expressing surprise at Chi Yu's unexpected wealth and her discomfort with the suddenness of the transaction. She further explained her reluctance to move into Tang Mao's place, as her current circumstances had already affected her friends and company, and she didn't want to create further misunderstandings or appear to be seeking a benefactor.
Tang Mao tried to persuade her, asking for a chance to prove how much she meant to him. Meanwhile, Chi Yu arrived at the hospital searching for Wen Suxi. You You, startled, informed him that Wen Suxi was on a date with Tang Mao. Chi Yu confronted Lin Haoshu, blaming him for not taking care of Wen Suxi and allowing her to go out with Tang Mao.
Lin Haoshu retorted that he was merely a friend, unable to control her personal choices, and that she was free to go out with anyone she pleased. Chi Yu dismissed him as a poor friend. Just as Chi Yu was about to leave, Wen Suxi and Tang Mao returned. Tang Mao was carrying Wen Suxi in his arms, prompting You You to quickly call for a wheelchair.
