Duo La met with Hu Dongkai, revealing her decision to leave the entertainment industry and bid farewell to her past. Hu Dongkai felt disheartened, asking if her goodbyes included him. Duo La assured him she would continue to be his fan, cheering him on from behind the scenes, though Hu Dongkai humorously dismissed her contribution, stating he had enough fans.

Mustering his courage, Hu Dongkai confessed his feelings, asking her to be his serious girlfriend, but stumbled over his words, fearing rejection. Duo La smiled warmly and then asked if he would be interested in giving her a ride home. Hu Dongkai gladly agreed. Meanwhile, Lin Haoshu was at home packing when he came across the clothes he wore when he first met Wen Suxi, feeling nostalgic for old times.

Wen Suxi, feeling heavy-hearted after a conversation with Hua Yecheng, called Lin Haoshu to arrange a talk, and it was when they met that she discovered Lin Haoshu was working at a comic café. Wen Suxi felt remorseful, realizing she hadn't paid enough attention to her friend's life and changes. She apologized, also feeling responsible for him losing his previous job due to their movie project.

Lin Haoshu, however, downplayed her guilt, asserting his passion for filmmaking had blossomed because of her. He playfully dubbed their bond a "great friendship," trying to ease her concerns as they chatted happily. Just then, Wang Xiaomi arrived. Lin Haoshu quickly excused himself to help his boss, leaving Wang Xiaomi and Wen Suxi alone. Wang Xiaomi directly confronted Wen Suxi, questioning how she could be so oblivious to Lin Haoshu's situation when he lived right next door.

She claimed she knew Lin Haoshu was working there from day one because she cared about him, unlike Wen Suxi. Wang Xiaomi passionately articulated the pain of unrequited love, describing how a person's interests and time become intertwined with the beloved, making them a shadow always seeking the distant light. She lamented how one constantly waits for messages, overanalyzing every delay, believing that making the person happy will win their affection, only to lose to someone who brings them sadness.

She highlighted Lin Haoshu's sacrifices for Wen Suxi, including moving to the city and taking on unfamiliar work for her, always appearing when needed, yet Wen Suxi had never truly needed him. Wang Xiaomi bluntly stated that Lin Haoshu's deep devotion was not mere friendship but profound love, and if Wen Suxi didn't reciprocate, she should completely let him go. Wen Suxi was left stunned, realizing she had profoundly misunderstood the nature of their relationship.

Later, after Lin Haoshu finished his shift, Wen Suxi approached him for a serious conversation about his feelings. Lin Haoshu, wanting to spare Wen Suxi any burden, tried to deflect by asking if she had ever liked him, to which she admitted she had never considered it. He then fabricated a story, claiming that he had been briefly infatuated with her when they were nine, finding her cute.

However, after she unceremoniously ate a whole pack of crispy noodles he had bought without sharing, he concluded she was merely a "foodie" and decided they could only ever be "good friends forever." They reminisced about several childhood memories, including an incident where Lin Haoshu, despite his fear of heights, climbed a school wall to save their class from demerits, only for Wen Suxi to throw his uniform at him to wash.

He also recalled a time when Wen Suxi asked him to describe what it felt like to like someone, a description she now realized perfectly depicted his feelings for her. Lin Haoshu then revealed his plan to move out, reiterating that he couldn't stay by her side indefinitely and that they would eventually have to part ways. Wen Suxi was visibly upset and shed tears, attempting to speak, but Lin Haoshu quickly interrupted her.

Fearing he might lose control of his emotions, Lin Haoshu abruptly made an excuse and hurried away. After he left, Wen Suxi softly uttered, "I'm sorry, Lin Haoshu." As Lin Haoshu walked away, he reflected on a memory of saying goodbye at a train station, contemplating how different things might have been if he could go back to the day they met, or if he could have been a different person.

He remembered Wen Suxi receiving her university admission letter for Hailing and his silent longing. He vividly recalled standing hidden at the train station when Wen Suxi left for college, hoping she would turn around so he could confess his feelings and hold her forever. She never did, and he acknowledged this unconfessed love as his life's greatest regret and an eternal memory.

He pictured himself on a beach, frantically drawing Wen Suxi's likeness in the sand, silently repeating, "I love you, Wen Suxi," knowing she would never hear him. He understood that if he himself forgot this love, then no one would ever know how madly Lin Haoshu had loved her. Before moving, Lin Haoshu entrusted a sketchbook to Chi Yu, asking him to deliver it to Wen Suxi after he had left.

Wen Suxi arrived, offering to drive Lin Haoshu, but he declined, stating Chi Yu would take him. He made her promise to take care of herself, maintain a regular schedule, and make him the godfather of her future children, all while lightly dismissing their separation as just a move. He then pulled her into a quick embrace before leaving with Chi Yu. After Lin Haoshu drove away, Chi Yu delivered the sketchbook Lin Haoshu had entrusted to him.

Inside, she found his drawings, which conveyed everything he wished to tell her. His message acknowledged the unlikelihood of her ever truly noticing his feelings, because "Lin Haoshu is never your hero." Realizing the depth of his unspoken love, Wen Suxi rushed out, tears streaming down her face, calling out "Lin Haoshu," but he was already gone. With a heartbroken whisper, she said, "I'm sorry."
