Beautiful Reborn Flower Episode 42 Recap
> Beautiful Reborn Flower Recap
A Li approached Luo Chen, telling him she needed a favor. She asked him not to expose her brother, Xu Zhensheng, for using Luo Chen's design without permission. Luo Chen initially resisted, believing Xu Zhensheng deserved the consequences, but A Li explained that as a self-paying student, exposure would devastate Zhensheng's future, and as his older sister, she couldn't stand by. Luo Chen agreed not to tell.
Thanking him, A Li then suggested that Luo Chen and Nan Sheng were a better match than Nan Sheng and Lin Heping, who came from "two different worlds." She proposed that Luo Chen persuade Lin Heping to give up, and in return, she would also convince Lin Heping to leave Nan Sheng, stating it was for both their sakes and her own. Lin Heping, with A Li on his bicycle, arrived at the factory.
He had been thinking about A Li eventually becoming his. There, they encountered Luo Chen, who explained that Mr. Ma had asked him to help finish the concept design for the "Seasons" collection to quickly sell off warehouse stock. Luo Chen provocatively added that Lin Heping wouldn't even have the opportunity to work there if not for his original illustration.
Lin Heping sternly warned Luo Chen to stay away from Nan Sheng, declaring that even if he couldn't be with her, he would never let her be with a "jerk," because he was her brother. Luo Chen sarcastically questioned their blood relation. A Li dismissed Luo Chen, calling him "self-entitled," while Luo Chen wished them luck with the design. Later, Lin Heping appeared visibly upset.
A Li offered him an orange, suggesting he tolerate working with Luo Chen for the sake of the business, as they could choose their collaborators once their products sold well. Lin Heping admitted his anger stemmed not just from Luo Chen's arrogance, but also because Luo Chen was pursuing Nan Sheng. A Li cautioned him that if he was so agitated by one person now, he would face many more talented men pursuing Nan Sheng once she started working.
As A Li tried to feed Lin Heping an orange, Nan Sheng walked by. She paused, apologizing for her previous rudeness regarding the money issue, stating she would repay it. A Li told her not to worry. Lin Heping offered to take Nan Sheng to school, but she politely declined and walked away, looking unhappy. Both Lin Heping and A Li noticed her troubled expression.
Meanwhile, at home, Lin Heping’s mother, Aunt Lan, discovered romantic messages in a tent, revealing Lin Heping and Nan Sheng’s secret relationship. When Nan Sheng returned, Aunt Lan directly asked if she considered Lin Heping an older brother. Nan Sheng affirmed this, saying he was like her own brother. Aunt Lan then sternly declared that siblings could not be in a relationship. Nan Sheng argued that they were not blood-related, only "siblings by name."
Aunt Lan reminded her that she and Nan Sheng’s father were almost married, and the neighbors would gossip if Nan Sheng and Lin Heping were together after her father's death. Nan Sheng insisted that she and Lin Heping truly loved each other and hoped people would eventually accept it. Aunt Lan dismissed her as naive, forbidding them from doing "shameful things" and making her life difficult.
She urged Nan Sheng to break up with Lin Heping, but Nan Sheng, despite her gratitude to Aunt Lan, stated she could not do that. Upon Lin Heping's return home, his mother angrily confronted him, telling him to stop worrying about Nan Sheng. When Lin Heping questioned what she had said to Nan Sheng, his mother revealed she had found their "lovey-dovey messages" and knew about their relationship, questioning how they could be in love.
Lin Heping countered that his mother never married Nan Sheng's father, so they were not siblings. His mother scolded him for being selfish, asserting that in the neighbors' eyes, she and Jian Ming were as good as married. Lin Heping retorted that she cared too much about others' opinions and should "be brave and be herself." His mother fired back that only the young had that luxury and that one must be honest.
Lin Heping firmly declared that no one could stop him from being with Nan Sheng. Infuriated, his mother threatened to kick him out of the house if he persisted. Lin Heping accepted, saying he had "had enough of this house anyway" and would not leave Nan Sheng. His mother screamed at him to "get lost." Undeterred by his mother's resistance, Lin Heping later snuck into the schoolyard to surprise Nan Sheng.
He decorated the area with colorful lights and hung wind chimes with heartfelt messages. Nan Sheng was delighted and touched, especially when Lin Heping presented her with an "Other Shore" necklace he had kept. He asked her to promise to stay together no matter what happened, and Nan Sheng agreed. As he walked her back to the dorm, Lin Heping reflected on their promises, hoping to work hard and not let Nan Sheng down in her upcoming internship.
During Nan Sheng's internship at the TV station, Lin Heping surprised her again. He had bought her a new phone with money earned from a part-time job, explaining that everyone at the station had one and he also wanted to "keep track of her." Nan Sheng was deeply moved but also concerned for his hard-earned money. Believing they should try to reconcile with his mother, Nan Sheng bought some bird's nest and went home with Lin Heping.
However, Lin Heping's mother saw through their attempt, flatly refusing to accept their relationship and ordering them to break up. Lin Heping argued again, emphasizing that since she never married Nan Sheng's father, they were not siblings. His mother became furious, threatening to hit him and reiterating that if he didn't give up the relationship, he would "lose his place in this house."
Lin Heping defiantly declared he had "had enough of this house anyway" and would not leave Nan Sheng, then stormed out. Nan Sheng chased after him, chiding him for speaking to his mother that way. She suggested they temporarily separate, hoping his mother would change her mind. Lin Heping dismissed the idea, stating he knew his mother's stubbornness and "can't hide my feelings for you." He said he would simply stay elsewhere.
Nan Sheng worried about them becoming estranged because of her, but Lin Heping reminded her of their promise to stay together no matter what happened. Yet, in the present, Lin Heping's thoughts drifted to reality, acknowledging that despite their past struggles and promises, they ultimately couldn't keep their word. Lin Heping received a call from Mo Hui, who informed him that a mysterious buyer was interested in his entire art collection but wished to meet him beforehand.
Mo Hui urged Lin Heping to sell, as debt collectors were pressing again. Lin Heping asked Mo Hui to stall the creditors one last time. Separately, Luo Chen and He Xiao Xi went to Director Jin Ke's studio to discuss copyright issues. Jin Ke identified them and acknowledged their claim that the film adaptation copyright belonged to them. Luo Chen criticized Jin Ke's "crude" language and presented proof of their copyright.
Jin Ke, however, dismissed it, stating he had personally bought the copyright from Qiao Man directly, deeming Ben, the original authorized agent, "untrustworthy." Luo Chen clarified that Qiao Man had officially authorized Ben to handle all copyright matters for "Meeting Barcelona," making Ben the sole legal licensor. Jin Ke demanded they find Ben. Luo Chen explained they couldn't find him.
Jin Ke stated that he could not give up the film rights due to signed investment intentions, which would incur significant penalties for breach of contract. Enraged, Luo Chen threatened to sue Jin Ke. Xiao Xi expressed concern about the possibility that Qiao Man had indeed entrusted Ben with the copyright. Meanwhile, Qiao Man and Han Sen were at the Marriage Registry, preparing to get married.
Han Sen mused about the unique combination of marriage and divorce registries, symbolizing life's choices. Qiao Man, expressing her commitment, asked Han Sen to point out her shortcomings so she could improve. Han Sen assured her she didn't need to change. As they took a picture to commemorate the moment, Qiao Man received an urgent call from Ding Miaomiao, Jin Ke's assistant.
Miaomiao frantically explained that two publishers were causing a commotion at the studio, claiming Qiao Man had sold them the copyright for "Meeting Barcelona" and threatening to sue. Qiao Man, taken aback, had to postpone their marriage registration. She apologized to Han Sen, promising to return before the Registry closed. Han Sen, though displeased, agreed to wait, emphasizing it was the happiest day of his life.
Qiao Man rushed to Jin Ke's studio, where he apologized for a previous incident where his assistant, Ding Miaomiao, had accidentally left her trapped. Jin Ke then explained the copyright situation, confirming that two publishers claimed Qiao Man had sold them the rights. He asked if Qiao Man had terminated her trust agreement with Ben. Qiao Man explained she couldn't find Ben, as he wasn't answering calls and had moved.
Jin Ke deduced that Ben must have sold the copyright and disappeared. Qiao Man denied any knowledge, insisting she wouldn't have signed the adaptation agreement if she had known. Jin Ke stressed that he couldn't give up the film rights due to signed investment agreements and the heavy penalties for breach. Qiao Man promised to take care of the situation. Jin Ke advised that finding Ben to terminate the trust agreement was the priority to strengthen their legal position.
Qiao Man vowed to find Ben, then left, looking weary. Han Sen called Qiao Man, urging her to return to the Registry as it was about to close. Qiao Man explained she couldn't make it, as she was facing a lawsuit, and stressed that she was "doomed if I can't find Ben." While still on the phone with Han Sen, Qiao Man suddenly spotted Ben, who had been missing for a long time, on the street.
As she called out to him and ran, a truck narrowly missed her. The near-collision triggered a vivid flashback of Nan Jianming's fatal car accident, causing Qiao Man to collapse and faint. Ben rushed to her side, while Han Sen, still on the phone, sensed the sudden silence and became frantic with worry. Meanwhile, A Li informed Lin Heping that Li Ping Pavilion was merging with Yi Pin Media. Lin Heping was surprised, questioning why two unrelated companies were merging.
A Li explained it was the decision of "the top brass," specifically Mr. Yan, who was waiting for Lin Heping in the meeting room. Lin Heping felt disrespected by the decision. At the meeting, Mr. Yan claimed it was a "last-minute decision" to "inject new blood" and ensure the company's listing. Lin Heping questioned the singular focus on getting listed, believing it was premature without developing a strong product.
A Li tried to calm him down, advising him to focus on his work. She even offered to support his idea of using "The Beacon" as the theme for next season's designs. Lin Heping was pessimistic, stating that with the company's uncertain survival, planning for next season was unrealistic. He left the meeting, frustrated. As he was heading out, he overheard Yang Lan excitedly telling A Li about "good news": Qiao Man and Han Sen were getting married.
Yang Lan showed A Li a picture Han Sen had posted from the Registry, remarking on Qiao Man's happiness. A Li noted that Lin Heping had seen it during the meeting. Yang Lan believed this would finally stop Lin Heping from "pestering Qiao Man." A Li then decided to book a table to formally welcome Yi Pin Media, telling Yang Lan that Lin Heping "doesn't have a choice" and "has to face reality."
