After Qiao Man's shoe broke during a seaside outing, Lin Heping offered her his shoelace. As Qiao Man knelt to tie it, the sight transported Lin Heping back to a poignant memory of Nan Sheng. It was a cold night, not long after Nan Sheng's father had passed away. They were returning from the funeral, and Nan Sheng was silently mourning her loss, realizing she was now an orphan. Lin Heping noticed her distress when she said she was hungry.

He gently tried to comfort her, but Nan Sheng, feeling responsible for her father's death, insisted she had to attend the funeral. Lin Heping reassured her it wasn't her fault and tried to distract her by suggesting they go for noodles. Nan Sheng, feeling vulnerable, hugged him from behind, asking him not to turn away and expressing her fear and sadness over her father's sudden disappearance.

Lin Heping held her face, promising to always be by her side and ensure she would never be hungry as long as he was there. In his thoughts, he recognized her innocence and sorrow, accepting her as his responsibility. He offered to carry her, and as she rode on his back, they both inwardly acknowledged their mutual dependence and the warmth of their connection, wishing never to be separated.

The memory concluded with Qiao Man's voice snapping Lin Heping back to the present, where he reflected on how much things had changed over time. Lin Heping, despite his recent hospital stay, couldn't shake his concern for the upcoming exhibition. He secretly visited the hall to check on its progress. Mo Hui, his assistant, reported that while most zones were ready, the artist for "The Beacon," the central piece, remained elusive.

With the opening ceremony looming, Mo Hui suggested replacing the painting, but Lin Heping refused. He explained his immediate, inexplicable connection to the artwork when he first saw it and stated his intention to keep it for his personal collection. He urged his team to intensify their efforts to find the artist. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhi and Zhuo Yang were struggling to transport heavy items through the city.

Exhausted, they paused, only to be mistaken for street performers by a passerby who offered them money. Xiao Zhi, indignant, refused the money, clarifying that she was in a foreign country for her studies, not to be a street artist. She confessed to Zhuo Yang the immense hardship she faced in Barcelona, contrasting sharply with the glamorous image her mother portrayed to their hometown folks—an executive living a luxurious life.

Xiao Zhi admitted she couldn't return home and disappoint her family, even though she desperately missed her mother's cooking and her homeland. Just then, Qiao Man arrived with burgers, noticing Xiao Zhi's tear-filled eyes. She comforted Xiao Zhi, acknowledging the difficulty of living abroad and confiding that she, too, only shared good news with her own sister. Encouraged by Qiao Man and Zhuo Yang, Xiao Zhi rallied, vowing to succeed in Barcelona.

Later, Han Sen sought out Qiao Man, who was annoyed by his presence. He tried to apologize, but Qiao Man insisted his apology should be directed at Lin Heping. She revealed that Peter, Han Sen’s associate, now viewed Han Sen as a traitor and was facing a prison sentence because of the earlier incident. Han Sen, however, placed some blame on Qiao Man, claiming Peter would have returned the artworks to Lin Heping if she had agreed to marry him.

Qiao Man rejected this, unable to comprehend a brotherly bond forged in crime. She was about to deliver a meal to Lin Heping, prompting Han Sen to remark that Lin Heping wouldn't be in Barcelona much longer once the exhibition concluded. At the exhibition hall, Qiao Man visited Lin Heping, bringing him chicken soup she had cooked. Lin Heping, still recovering, expressed his unwavering dedication to the exhibition.

As Qiao Man left, Lin Heping mused about her radiant presence, which brought light to his life. Qiao Man then discovered "The Beacon" displayed in the hall and immediately confronted Yang Lan, accusing her of plagiarism. Yang Lan admitted to commissioning a copy of the painting because Lin Heping admired it and the original artist, "Ban Mian Zhuang," couldn't be found.

Lin Heping, having arrived during the commotion, was dismayed by Yang Lan's unauthorized actions, emphasizing the damage this could do to their studio's reputation. He demanded the copied painting be removed. Qiao Man, though lacking immediate proof, maintained she was the artist and led Lin Heping to her home to demonstrate. Upon seeing the original painting at Qiao Man's house, Lin Heping realized Qiao Man was indeed the artist he had been searching for.

Her sister, Qiao Fang, greeted Lin Heping. Qiao Man questioned Qiao Fang about submitting the painting to competitions, which Qiao Fang admitted, believing it was too good to be kept hidden. Lin Heping was surprised that the elusive contact person he had been trying to reach was Qiao Man's sister and expressed frustration about unreturned emails. Qiao Fang attributed this to her infrequent computer use and a forgotten password.

Qiao Man, however, refused to sell the painting, citing a private, personal reason and her desire for the artwork to remain off the market. She implored Lin Heping to remove the copy from his exhibition. Meanwhile, Yang Lan called A Li with the good news of finding "Ban Mian Zhuang" in Barcelona. A Li, however, was preoccupied with troubles caused by He Jian Feng, whose uncooperative attitude had left a financial account unresolved.

She urged Yang Lan to return and assist her once her Barcelona affairs were settled, warning of severe consequences if the matter wasn't resolved. Lin Heping later accompanied Qiao Man to her workplace, where she was dealing with a distraught client, Sister Ni. Sister Ni was suing Qiao Man because of defects in a house Qiao Man had sold her, particularly a dangerously placed fire hydrant.

Qiao Man admitted she had never met the original homeowner, Ben, only his agent, and couldn't contact him. Lin Heping stepped in, offering to cover all costs for repairs and relocation of the fire hydrant, as well as handle the workers, to resolve Sister Ni's issues. He explained to a surprised Qiao Man that he was doing it out of trust and to buy her time to find Ben, warning that a lawsuit could cost Qiao Man her job.

Later, Qiao Man discovered a box of sleeping pills among Qiao Fang's belongings. Qiao Fang confessed to battling insomnia and having suicidal thoughts due to the overwhelming debt to Anthony, who she felt was relentlessly stalking her. Qiao Man was horrified and promised to repay Qiao Fang's debts to keep Anthony away. She reminded Qiao Fang that it was her encouragement that inspired Qiao Man's artistic journey.

Qiao Man urged her sister to return home for a vacation, promising to handle any further harassment from Anthony and assuring Qiao Fang that she would be safe. Still hoping to acquire "The Beacon," Lin Heping approached Qiao Man again, stressing the painting's importance to his exhibition, as its theme was centered around it. Without it, the entire exhibition would be meaningless.

He offered to cancel Qiao Man's €50,000 debt if she agreed to sell the painting, arguing that its artistic value was immense to those who appreciated it. Moved by his sincerity, Qiao Man agreed, signing the contract after Lin Heping promised he would never regret the purchase. Qiao Man's professional life took a turn for the worse when a colleague informed her she had been fired by their boss, Hu Jieming, for lending out the exhibition hall without permission.

Her basic salary for the month was also withheld. Incensed, Qiao Man confronted Hu Jieming, demanding her rightful pay, but he adamantly refused, criticizing her lack of contribution to the company and calling her a "pathetic loser." Qiao Man left in a fury. Feeling despondent, Qiao Man sought solace by the seaside, where Han Sen found her. He questioned her about selling "The Beacon" to Lin Heping. Qiao Man confirmed she had, explaining it was necessary to settle her debt.

She acknowledged her attachment to the painting but reasoned that it would gain wider appreciation in Lin Heping's exhibition rather than gathering dust at home. Han Sen, however, was adamant that she shouldn't have parted with it, asserting his intention to retrieve the artwork for her. Back at the exhibition, Yang Lan was confused when Lin Heping declared that "The Beacon," which was now proudly displayed, was not for sale and would remain part of his private collection.

She questioned his decision, especially given the painting was by a relatively unknown artist and the financial implications. Lin Heping, however, cut her off, reiterating his firm decision not to sell. Han Sen then approached An Kailun, requesting a loan of €50,000. He promised to use the money for a good purpose and to stop causing trouble at An Kailun's winery. Despite initial skepticism, An Kailun agreed to lend him the money, overriding his assistant's concerns.

Armed with the money, Han Sen confronted Lin Heping at the exhibition, demanding to buy "The Beacon." Lin Heping refused, reiterating it was a personal collection. Han Sen then claimed the painting belonged to his girlfriend, Qiao Man, and he had the right to retrieve it. Lin Heping dismissed this, stating he had never heard of Han Sen being Qiao Man's boyfriend and that his feelings for her were one-sided.
