Xu Zhi said Chen Luzhou was taking photos for her and they needed to go over some details. Her father told her to go home quickly, and Xu Zhi walked back. He then asked Chen Luzhou why he hadn’t gone for a follow-up checkup. Chen Luzhou said he didn’t have time.
Xu Zhi’s father said that was just an excuse—without a checkup, no one would know his current condition. He told him to go tomorrow. After her father left, Xu Zhi admitted she was dating Chen Luzhou. Her father was very surprised and said it was fine—she was grown up now. He said Chen Luzhou seemed like a decent guy and was a local too.
After they got married, she could visit home often—he didn’t want to be a lonely old man. Xu Zhi said her father was thinking too far ahead—they wouldn’t last. He told Chen Luzhou that if he was going to leave, he should just go—don’t drag things out. Chen Luzhou went with Xu Zhi to get her ears pierced. Xu Zhi picked out earrings and said several looked good—asked Chen Luzhou to choose one for her. Xu Zhi bought him an ice cream, saying experts claimed it would ease the pain after piercing. When Chen Luzhou got home, his mother wasn’t there.
His father was eating and asked him to join. He handed over the apartment key to Chen Luzhou, but he didn’t take it. His father asked if he didn’t want to go abroad. Chen Luzhou said that wasn’t it—going abroad was fine. His father told him that no matter where he went, he should remember he had family here and should come back to visit when he could.
Chen Luzhou said that once he went abroad, he might just settle there. His father reminisced about when Chen Luzhou first came here—how he used to be afraid of him. After returning, Chen Luzhou called Xu Zhi. She could tell he was feeling down and came to keep him company. Zhu Yangqi also felt gloomy, knowing Chen Luzhou was going abroad.
