Be My Princess Episode 24 Recap
> Be My Princess Recap
Mu Tingzhou struggled to find a suitable name for his child, discarding options like "Mu Youqian" because they sounded strange or unlucky. He decided to call his mother, believing that a scriptwriter like her would be good at naming. However, once on the phone, he quickly offered brief answers and ended the call, realizing he couldn't let her know about his impending fatherhood so casually. Despite the naming challenge, he was inwardly delighted at the prospect of becoming a father.
Mu Tingzhou questioned Ming Wei about her future, asking if she intended to continue her acting career or perhaps return to translation. Ming Wei firmly declared her intention to remain an actress, explaining that the longer she pursued the profession, the more enjoyment and sense of accomplishment she found in it.
Mu Tingzhou then sternly criticized her recent actions as unprofessional, emphasizing that a truly qualified actor should fully embody their character, unaffected by external factors, and always remember that the "play is the most important thing." Ming Wei acknowledged his words as inspiring. Later, driven by curiosity, Mu Tingzhou asked Ming Wei to describe the Grand Tutor and recount his experiences while inhabiting that role. Ming Wei found this request cruel, as it forced her to confront painful memories.
In her mind, she debated whether to bravely face these past hurts or shield herself from reliving them. Recalling the Grand Tutor's wisdom, she remembered his advice to steadfastly follow one's chosen path and prioritize career. Ming Wei informed Shen Su of her decision to accept the role in "The Butterfly Lovers." Surprised, Shen Su reiterated her offer to resolve any issues and advised Ming Wei not to feel pressured.
However, Ming Wei explained that she had given it much thought and believed that as a professional actress, the play itself should be the priority, not personal matters. She also stated her conviction that facing personal challenges, rather than avoiding them, was essential for her growth. Shen Su commended Ming Wei for her impressive development, calling her the fastest-growing among all new actors, and pledged her full support. During an interview, Mu Tingzhou observed Ming Wei leaving to vomit.
He then overheard a phone conversation between Ming Wei and Ming Qiao, in which Ming Wei stated that they couldn't keep "it" and were not capable of raising it. This led Mu Tingzhou to mistakenly conclude that Ming Wei was pregnant. He had Xu Run purchase sour grapes and offered them to Ming Wei as a test. When he tried one himself, his face contorted in an exaggerated expression of sourness.
Believing he had confirmed his suspicion, Mu Tingzhou urged Ming Wei to withdraw from "The Butterfly Lovers," stating he would take responsibility for the child he believed was his from his time as the Grand Tutor. Ming Wei was bewildered, clarifying that her vomiting was due to gastroenteritis and that her phone call had been about whether to adopt a puppy.
Realizing Mu Tingzhou had concocted an entire pregnancy scenario, she light-heartedly reminded him that she had always enjoyed sour foods, leaving him utterly mortified. Xu Run arranged a dinner with Ming Qiao's parents, but they unexpectedly encountered his father, Xu Xiu, at the restaurant. Upon seeing Xu Xiu, Ming Qiao's mother, Jiang Yue, feigned a sudden stomachache and quickly left with Ming Qiao. Later, Xu Xiu revealed to Xu Run that Jiang Yue was the "auntie" from his past.
He recounted meeting her at a party where she was playing the zither and falling deeply in love. However, Xu Run's grandmother strongly opposed their union and secretly forced the pregnant Jiang Yue to leave. Despite his desperate search, Xu Xiu was never able to find her and lamented his past inability to protect her, now wondering if Ming Qiao was the child he never knew. When Ming Qiao later saw a conflicted Xu Run, she tearfully embraced him.
He hesitated, his eyes filled with sadness, before finally returning her embrace. Upon returning home, Ming Wei noticed Ming Qiao's somber mood. Ming Qiao recounted how her mother had abruptly left dinner after seeing Xu Xiu, hinting at a deep-seated animosity. Ming Wei found it implausible that her housewife mother could have a past feud with a prominent entrepreneur like Xu Xiu.
To understand the situation, Xu Run met with Jiang Yue and asked if she was pregnant when she left his father. Avoiding the question, Jiang Yue firmly stated her opposition to his and Ming Qiao's relationship, declaring she wanted no entanglement between their families and demanding he end things with Ming Qiao. Overwhelmed by helplessness, Xu Run began to intentionally distance himself from Ming Qiao, who was deeply saddened by his sudden unavailability.
Noticing his coldness, Ming Wei confronted Xu Run and warned him not to hurt her sister. At a family dinner, Ming Qiao's parents voiced their strong disapproval of Xu Run, dismissing him as an unreliable rich kid using an alias for amusement. Ming Wei defended him, explaining the alias was for work and vouching for his character. Ming Qiao also challenged her parents' quick judgment. Despite their defenses, the parents persisted in their objections. Ming Qiao then directly asked about the animosity between them and Xu Xiu, but her parents evaded the question, claiming they were not in the mood to discuss it.
