Be My Princess Episode 13 Recap
> Be My Princess Recap
In a dream-like sequence, Mu Yun glided across shimmering water, shrouded in a gentle mist. Princess Ming Hua asked him hopefully if he would never leave her again, and he silently affirmed with a smile and a nod. Hand in hand, they ran across the clear blue water, heedless of their wet clothes as water splashed around them. Suddenly, Mu Tingzhou's face appeared reflected in the water, startling Mu Yun.
The film crew prepared for a horse-riding scene, which required Ming Wei to gallop. Despite prior training, Ming Wei felt nervous. Seeing this, Chen Zhang approached to offer detailed instructions. Their hands touched as he helped position her, then he held her waist to assist her onto the horse. Watching this, Mu Tingzhou was overcome with irritation and jealousy. He swiftly leaped onto the horse behind Ming Wei and immediately rode off, leaving a surprised Chen Zhang behind.
As the horse galloped through the forest, Mu Tingzhou’s arm settled around Ming Wei’s waist. When they finally stopped, an annoyed Ming Wei declared that Chen Zhang was genuinely good to her, not merely acting out of a sense of duty. She questioned Mu Tingzhou's possessive actions, given his usual adherence to propriety. Mu Tingzhou explained that he had already asked for her hand in marriage the previous night.
Ming Wei, however, pointed out that she had not accepted his proposal. She argued there was little difference between him and Chen Zhang, except that Chen Zhang’s kindness felt genuine, not born from a sense of duty. With that, Ming Wei rode off on her own. Later, Chen Zhang confronted Mu Tingzhou, stating his intention to pursue Ming Wei.
He pressed Mu Tingzhou on what authority he had to obstruct him, asking if he was acting as an elder or a suitor. Mu Tingzhou reiterated that he had already asked Ming Wei to marry him. Chen Zhang scoffed at this, calling it ridiculous since Ming Wei had not accepted. He argued that this put them on equal footing as suitors, and he would not back down.
Mu Tingzhou maintained that even without her acceptance, Chen Zhang stood no chance, but Chen Zhang retorted that only Ming Wei could decide the outcome. After the horse-riding sequence was successfully filmed, a light technician's oversight spooked Ming Wei's horse, creating a dangerous situation. In the critical moment, Mu Tingzhou lunged forward to shield Ming Wei, and they tumbled down a cliff together.
At the hospital, doctors confirmed Ming Wei had only minor external injuries, but Mu Tingzhou’s condition was more severe, as he had suffered multiple grazes and a serious concussion. The medical team noted that he had clearly risked his life to protect her. Ming Wei awoke in the hospital and, anxious about Mu Tingzhou, immediately asked about his condition. Despite her own recent awakening, she insisted on going to his room.
Upon reaching his bedside, she grasped his hand, overwhelmed with guilt for his injuries. As if summoned by her voice, Mu Tingzhou slowly regained consciousness. He looked at her with an unfamiliar gaze, leading Ming Wei to momentarily think the real Mu Tingzhou had returned. However, when he gently reached out to touch her head, he still addressed her as "Princess," confirming he remained in his Grand Tutor persona. Overjoyed, Ming Wei embraced him, a wide smile on her face.
Chen Zhang, witnessing this tender scene, understood he had lost the battle for her heart. In the quiet of the hospital room, Mu Tingzhou confessed his feelings to Ming Wei. He explained that in the terrifying moments of falling down the cliff, he finally understood that his feelings for her transcended his duty.
He had asked himself if he would still protect her for life, irrespective of his Grand Tutor identity or his duties to the Emperor, and seeing her in danger, he had found his answer: he would willingly risk his life to ensure her safety. He pledged to protect her always, regardless of her answer. Unsure how to respond, Ming Wei began to rise to get water. Mu Tingzhou gently held her arm, his eyes filled with anticipation.
Ming Wei, in turn, asked if he would still have rescued her so selflessly had he discovered she wasn't truly a princess. Without hesitation, Mu Tingzhou firmly replied that he would. A radiant smile lit up Ming Wei's face, and she interlaced her fingers with his. Later, Ming Wei confided in her sister, Ming Qiao, about her lingering uncertainty.
She knew she loved the Grand Tutor, but she was still confused if the man before her was one person or two. Ming Qiao wisely advised her that it didn't matter who he was; as long as he was the one she desired and loved in the present moment, that was enough. Ming Wei then playfully guessed that Ming Qiao herself had fallen in love, observing her sister's shy reactions, which clearly indicated special feelings for Xiao Zhao.
Ming Qiao, however, insisted she would only tell her sister once she was certain. Chen Zhang visited Mu Tingzhou in the hospital with flowers, sincerely thanking him for saving Ming Wei's life. Mu Tingzhou brusquely stated that he and Ming Wei were deeply in love, implying an outsider's thanks were unnecessary. Acknowledging defeat, Chen Zhang nevertheless issued a cautionary remark.
He revealed that Ming Wei had been visibly nervous before Mu Tingzhou woke up, not only concerned for his injuries but also fearing he might no longer be the Grand Tutor or might not remember her at all. He questioned what Ming Wei would do if the Grand Tutor persona were to vanish completely. With quiet conviction, Mu Tingzhou murmured that he would never abandon Ming Wei.
Upon his discharge, Mu Tingzhou went directly to Ming Wei's film set, bringing her favorite facial cleanser and snacks and telling her how much he had missed her. He confessed this was his first experience with love and announced his intention to seek her parents' permission for their marriage once her drama concluded. Ming Wei, however, urged him to be realistic. She explained that everyone, including herself, viewed him as a temporarily amnesiac patient.
She outlined the doctor’s three possible prognoses: he might remain as he is, he might recover all his memories including their time together, or he might recover only his pre-accident memories and forget their relationship entirely. She voiced her fear that if he recovered and forgot her, it would be a heartbreaking ordeal. Furthermore, she admitted she lacked the courage to face the true Mu Tingzhou's arrogance or the gossip that would inevitably follow.
She urged him not to worry, expressing her contentment with simply having met him. Later, Ming Wei and Mu Tingzhou enjoyed a harmonious morning preparing breakfast, including dumplings Mu Tingzhou had learned to make for the Winter Solstice. The pleasant atmosphere was disrupted by a message from Chen Zhang. Feeling awkward, Ming Wei informed Mu Tingzhou that she had to reshoot a kiss scene with Chen Zhang the next day and he had sent some videos for discussion.
To Ming Wei's surprise, Mu Tingzhou showed no jealousy, his expression remaining calm. He simply encouraged her to finish eating and rest up. His serene reaction left Ming Wei puzzled, wondering if his lack of jealousy meant he didn't truly care about her.
