In Taimanda, a fierce shootout erupted in a luxurious building as police surrounded a scam syndicate. Chen Mo, his hands freed from ropes, stumbled out of a room and fled. A bullet whizzed past his ear as he desperately ran. He was forced to jump to the first floor, where he quickly got into a random car and sped away. However, blood streaming from his facial wound obstructed his vision, and he crashed into something.

Later, Chen Mo awoke in an unfamiliar house to find a beautiful woman named Mu Tong standing before him. She explained that, like him, she had also escaped from the scam syndicate. After the operation, the Thai police, hampered by a lack of manpower and a vast search area, were unable to apprehend the syndicate's core members. Despite this, the police successfully prevented dozens of scams, saving millions of dollars in potential losses.

Yet, many people continued to trust the scammers, ignoring warnings and still wiring money to their accounts, highlighting the long and arduous journey for cybersecurity. Back home, the financial situation of the studio was dire. The money advanced for the pig-butchering scam could not be retrieved immediately.

Tang Lin reported to Qin Huai that if the company didn't generate income that month, they wouldn't be able to cover the next six months' rent, utilities, property management fees, or Qin Huai's monthly payments to his godmother's nursing home. Qin Huai, however, was preoccupied with an urgent trip and simply handed Tang Lin a bank card, assuring her it would be enough for a while.

Zhou You intercepted Qin Huai, demanding to know who Chen Mo was and insisting on meeting him, especially after overhearing Qin Huai mention Chen Mo's name during a phone call with his godmother. Qin Huai refused, explaining it was an emergency. Zhou You then insisted on joining him.

To convince Zhou You to stay, Qin Huai earnestly praised him, calling him the company's backbone and right-hand man, emphasizing that if both of them left, no one capable would be left to run the company. He then solemnly entrusted the studio, Tang Lin, and Auntie Ding to Zhou You's care. Convinced by Qin Huai's words, Zhou You released his grip and personally saw him off, promising to take care of the company.

Finding someone in an unfamiliar foreign country was like searching for a needle in a haystack, but Qin Huai was determined. He began his search by showing Chen Mo's photo around. He eventually located the restaurant where Chen Mo had worked, and from there, obtained the address of his rented apartment. However, the apartment was empty and in disarray, with a moldy cake lying by the door, and the scattered items inside suggested a struggle had taken place.

Meanwhile, Chen Mo, still injured, attempted to leave Mu Tong's cottage, insisting he had something important to do, despite her concerns for his recovery. Mu Tong offered to help him. Later, following Chen Mo's instructions, Mu Tong went to his rented apartment, where she unexpectedly encountered Qin Huai. Recalling Chen Mo's wish to keep his whereabouts secret, she told Qin Huai that Chen Mo had died.

When Qin Huai, in disbelief, tried to press for more information, Mu Tong quickly used a stun gun to subdue him. She then collected a few items, including a U-disk that accidentally got wet, and left without looking back. Returning to the cottage, Mu Tong recounted the incident to Chen Mo, who mistakenly assumed the scam syndicate was still pursuing him, never imagining that Qin Huai had found him.

Devastated by the news of his friend's "death," Qin Huai returned home. He called his godmother, telling her he still couldn't reach Chen Mo, carefully withholding the dire news. Back home, Zhou You had been investigating Chen Mo and Qin Huai online. He found various rumors: some hailed Chen Mo as the genius creator of a super virus called "Revenge," while others branded him a criminal who used technology to harm people for money.

There were also warnings that anyone befriending Qin Huai would end up in trouble, with Chen Mo cited as the prime example. Increasingly curious, Zhou You confronted Tang Lin, learning that Qin Huai had returned. He immediately went to Qin Huai's door, angrily demanding answers as to why he hadn't been informed. After persistent prodding, Zhou You persuaded Qin Huai to reveal the truth.

Qin Huai explained that after his godmother was scammed, Chen Mo, to find the syndicate, installed a virus called "Revenge" on their website. However, the plan was accidentally exposed, and to protect Qin Huai and allow him to care for his then-frail godmother, Chen Mo took all the blame and was imprisoned. Since then, Qin Huai had been working with the authorities to uncover the truth behind the "Revenge" leakage, but after many years, the truth remained elusive.

Qin Huai also recalled a promise he made to Chen Mo: they would start a company together, with Qin Huai managing offensive strategies and Chen Mo handling defensive ones, making them peerless. Zhou You, still confident in his own abilities, declared he could effortlessly replace both of them and help with the investigation. Later, Mu Tong returned to the cottage from getting medicine for Chen Mo, reporting that someone had been following her again. Realizing they were still in danger, she and Chen Mo quickly gathered their belongings and fled the cottage using a hidden path.
