Before class began, Miss Zhao publicly announced that a love letter addressed to Zuo An had been discovered. Concerned about upcoming college entrance exams and potential distractions like puppy love, she criticized the incident and asked the writer to come forward after class. After school, Xiaoman, Chi Yaola, and other students waited by the staircase, curious to see who would confess, but no one appeared. Zhan Yue and Xiaoman left feeling disappointed, discussing who might have written the letter.

As they playfully bickered on their way home, they were surprised to find Miss Zhao at Xiaoman's doorstep. Miss Zhao had assumed the letter was Xiaoman's because it was found under her desk. She believed Xiaoman was showing signs of puppy love and had come for a home visit. Startled, Xiaoman's father immediately revealed that Zuo An had been tutoring Xiaoman. Both Miss Zhao and Zhan Yue were astonished by this revelation.

Xiaoman quickly clarified that she had no romantic involvement with Zuo An, explaining that Zuo An was reluctantly tutoring her at her father's request, and their interactions were strictly academic. Miss Zhao showed the letter to Xiaoman, who noticed the handwriting was unfamiliar. Xiaoman then retrieved her own notes to compare the handwriting, successfully proving her innocence. Miss Zhao, realizing her mistake, apologized to Xiaoman and her father for her hasty judgment.

Before her visit, Miss Zhao had also informed Zuo An's father about the letter. Consequently, Zuo An's father grew highly displeased with Xiaoman and, to prevent any further distractions for his son, forbade Zuo An from attending school, instructing him to self-study at home instead. Zuo An protested, but his father insisted it was for his own good and to help him adjust after deciding to stay and study in the country.

The next morning, as Zhan Yue and Xiaoman entered the classroom, Chi Yaola, leading a group of students, immediately confronted Xiaoman, accusing her of writing the letter and being manipulative. Xiaoman was at a loss for words. Zuo An then arrived, and Xiaoman eagerly looked to him for clarification, but he remained silent.

Just then, Miss Zhao walked in and publicly clarified the situation, explaining that the true author of the letter had bravely confessed to her late the previous night. Miss Zhao solemnly apologized to Xiaoman for her oversight and announced that Zuo An would be self-studying at home for the remainder of the semester at his father's request. Everyone in the class expressed their disappointment at Zuo An's absence, feeling glum.

Chi Yaola, however, continued to blame Xiaoman for the entire incident, still convinced that Xiaoman was behind the letter. Hearing this, Zhan Yue stepped forward to defend Xiaoman, publicly claiming that he had seen all of Xiaoman's diaries and that they only ever mentioned him. Zuo An, overhearing Zhan Yue's pronouncement, grew noticeably upset and left the classroom, his mood remaining troubled even after returning home. Meanwhile, Xiaoman was also feeling down, her thoughts consumed by Zuo An.

However, upon receiving study notes sent by Zuo An through his father, she resolved to redouble her efforts, determined not to let Zuo An's kindness go to waste. Before an upcoming school examination, Zuo An sent Xiaoman an encouraging message. Bolstered by his words, Xiaoman felt a surge of confidence. After the exam, her hard work paid off remarkably. Xiaoman's rank improved by over 400 places, placing her among the top 100 students in the entire grade.

Miss Zhao publicly commended Xiaoman for her significant progress, and Xiaoman was overjoyed by the recognition. After school, Zuo An congratulated Xiaoman on her achievement and handed her a new set of study notes, offering to help her further if needed during the holiday. Xiaoman was deeply moved by his continued support. Back home, Xiaoman began rising early each day for exercise while simultaneously memorizing vocabulary, a sight that pleased her father immensely.

During the holiday, Xiaoman meticulously planned out her entire day for studying. Zhan Yue, finding himself with time on his hands, went to Xiaoman's house, hoping to entice her to play. Though tempted, Xiaoman exercised self-control, firmly declining his invitation and refocusing on her studies. When Xiaoman encountered a difficult problem she couldn't solve, and also wanting to see Zuo An, she messaged him to meet and help her.

They met at a dessert shop, where Zuo An patiently explained the problem. Xiaoman, however, found herself continuously gazing at Zuo An rather than the problem. At that moment, Zhan Yue happened to pass by the dessert shop and saw them studying together. Later that night, Zhan Yue tossed and turned in bed, his mind replaying the scene of Xiaoman and Zuo An together, his mood growing increasingly frustrated.

The next day, while playing basketball with a friend, Zhan Yue complained and speculated that Zuo An might like Xiaoman. His friend scoffed at the idea, finding it impossible that anyone would be interested in "that female King Kong." Xiaoman arranged to meet Zuo An again, this time to present him with a thank-you gift.

She had noticed Zuo An frequently buying pens from a small store near her home and thought a good quality pen would prevent him from needing to buy them so often. Zuo An accepted the gift without much comment but seemed pleased. Afterward, Zuo An unexpectedly asked Xiaoman to teach him boxing, expressing curiosity. Xiaoman, though initially worried he might get hurt due to his lack of athletic experience, agreed to teach him a combination punch. During their training, Zuo An, unaccustomed to physical activity, accidentally twisted his waist while practicing a movement.
