Xiaoman remained upset with Zuo An, avoiding him despite his persistent attempts to reach out. Although she replied coldly to his messages, she found herself missing him when he did not respond. Zuo An had apologized, admitting he knew Anning had done wrong. Meanwhile, Xiaoman, who had confidently aimed for a scholarship, was left distraught by her exam results. While her scores were decent among her dorm mates, she felt uneasy about them.
Her spirits plummeted further upon learning that the scholarship, which Zuo An usually won, might go to Sun Anning this semester because Zuo An had received a notice of criticism. Xiaoman lamented that she wouldn't be able to fulfill her promise of using the scholarship to pay Zuo An for tutoring fees. With exams over, Xiaoman went home for winter break.
Zuo An, searching for her, contacted Zhou Lina and learned that Xiaoman had already left alone, seemingly unhappy but having passed her exams well despite the semester's difficulties. He declared his intention to spend the winter holiday with Xiaoman, prompting Shen Chenyang to accuse him of relying on "geographical advantage." At home, Xiaoman found the winter holiday incredibly boring. She missed Zuo An but grew jealous imagining him with Sun Anning.
Her father tried to encourage her to go out or visit the boxing gym, her favorite place, but Xiaoman refused, preferring to sleep. Zhan Yue called, then visited, trying to persuade her to go out and questioning why she seemed so unhappy, hinting that it might be due to Zuo An and Anning. Classmates watched, skeptical of Zuo An's chances against Zhan Yue, but to everyone's surprise, Zuo An decisively won the match.
Zhan Yue tried to dispute the win, claiming he "slipped," but Zuo An stood firm. After the game, Zuo An found Xiaoman, who had left, feeling disheartened about her own unfulfilled promises compared to Zuo An's determination. Zuo An expressed his happiness at his victory. Xiaoman then apologized for breaking her promise about the scholarship. Zuo An gently dismissed her apology, acknowledging she was in a bad state during exams.
He then apologized himself, admitting he had misunderstood Anning and believed her, not expecting her to change and hurt Xiaoman. Xiaoman was surprised to learn that Zuo An knew about Anning's actions, and upon hearing his genuine regret, she felt a great weight lifted from her. She asked Zuo An about the full extent of the conflict with Anning, but he preferred not to dwell on the "shameful thing," stating it was in the past.
He clarified that he wasn't familiar enough with Anning for forgiveness to be an issue, but he still couldn't understand why Anning hated her. Just as Zuo An was about to confess something else to Xiaoman, Shen Chenyang suddenly appeared, interrupting their conversation. He announced that he had come specifically to spend the winter break with Xiaoman because "someone" had mocked him for not being able to. Zuo An tried to lead Xiaoman away, but Shen Chenyang stubbornly followed them.
They attempted to book a hotel room for Shen Chenyang, but he claimed he hadn't brought his ID, preventing him from checking in. Exasperated, Zuo An offered to arrange a room for Shen Chenyang at his own home, but Shen Chenyang refused, insisting he had come for Xiaoman and wanted to stay at her house.
Despite Xiaoman's protests and calling him "shameless," she reluctantly agreed to take him home, assuring Zuo An that her father would never allow him to stay. Shen Chenyang, however, was confident, declaring that a "son-in-law entering the house depends on his own ability." Upon arriving at Xiaoman's house, her father welcomed Zuo An. Shen Chenyang introduced himself as Xiaoman's "good friend," a claim her father seemed to eye with suspicion.
Xiaoman tried to explain that Shen Chenyang was just a senior from school who needed a place to stay for one night, expecting her father to refuse outright and even jokingly offered her father a "sword" to "break his leg." To her utter surprise, her father agreed to let Shen Chenyang stay for "only one night," reasoning it was too late to send him away, even after Zuo An pointed out Shen Chenyang's lies about his ID.
This unexpected decision left Zuo An visibly upset and Xiaoman shocked. Xiaoman grudgingly prepared a corner in the warehouse for Shen Chenyang. She went to him, warning him to leave first thing in the morning. Shen Chenyang flatly refused, stating he intended to spend the entire winter break with her. Annoyed, Xiaoman grabbed his neck, pulling him close in exasperation. At that moment, her father walked in, misinterpreting their close proximity as an intimate moment between a couple.
He advised Xiaoman, as a girl, to be "restrained." Xiaoman immediately tried to explain the misunderstanding, emphatically denying that Shen Chenyang was her boyfriend and questioning her father's taste.
