Xiang Zeyi was browsing in a bookstore when he noticed Ye Zi's new book, "Fickle", topping the bestseller charts, signifying her success. Early one morning, Zhuzi woke up abruptly, realizing it was already nine o'clock. She was supposed to attend a meeting with Ye Zi and their publishing house editor, Mrs. Yu, but she had overslept. While frantically searching for her phone, Zhuzi received a call from her company, informing her that Ye Zi's book had won an award.
She quickly got ready and rushed to the office. Upon her arrival, Ye Zi and Mrs. Yu had also just met. After exchanging pleasantries, Ye Zi went with Mrs. Yu to discuss details of their cooperation, leaving Zhuzi to handle the reporters who had come to interview Ye Zi about her award. Watching Zhuzi answer reporters' questions about Ye Zi's new book, Ye Zi's thoughts drifted back to her college days.
One weekend in their university dorm, while everyone else was still asleep, Zhuzi woke them all up, declaring it was time for fortune-telling. Pulling out a constellation book, she earnestly began to read. First, she looked up Ye Zi's and Xiang Zeyi's horoscopes. Ye Zi asked, "Why mention him?" The horoscopes then stated that a Libra and an Aries were fundamentally different, on opposite sides of a ball with no intersection, destined to hate each other without deep understanding.
Zhuzi felt awkward but quickly moved on to her own and Yuan Lang's compatibility. The results were again unfavorable: a fickle Gemini and a considerate Virgo, despite sharing Mercury as a guardian star, had different styles, making a long-lasting relationship difficult. Zhuzi, upset by the book's predictions, accused it of being completely wrong and incorrectly assigning their star signs. Just then, Xirang received a phone call and stepped out. Xirang met Zhang Daniao outside the dorm.
He had brought fried chicken for breakfast. Though Xirang jokingly complained about eating fried chicken so early in the morning, she accepted it with a smile. Back in the dorm, her roommates happily dug into the food. Zhuzi discovered two movie tickets tucked into the fried chicken box, revealing Zhang Daniao's intention to ask Xirang out on a date. The girls playfully teased Xirang about her new admirer.
Later, the campus radio program began, with Song Li, a friend, sharing classic lines from the movie "6th Floor Rear Flat" and speaking about the wonderful aspects of youth. Meanwhile, in the library, Cheng Xi was studying, unaware of a male student admiring her from behind. Lin Sen, looking for Ye Zi, approached Zhuzi instead. He had found some picture albums from the school library that Ye Zi had been searching for and brought them to her.
Zhuzi, grateful for his thoughtfulness, then asked Lin Sen to help her get Yuan Lang's class schedule, to which he agreed. When Zhuzi returned to the dorm, Xirang also came back. All the roommates were now present. Xirang happily announced that she had officially started dating Zhang Daniao after their date. Zhang Daniao had invited them all to watch the national animation design competition finals in the Assembly Hall. Ye Zi was hesitant to go, knowing Xiang Zeyi was participating.
However, her roommates begged her to join them, and she eventually agreed to attend. At the competition venue, the Assembly Hall was packed. Ye Zi's dormmates found seats together, and soon after, Lin Sen and Yuan Lang arrived, having been invited by Zhuzi. Ye Zi watched Zhuzi, who clearly enjoyed the unfolding drama. Zhuzi noted the presence of Xu Wenjie and her group, observing that Xiang Zeyi had many supporters and joking about the "rivals in love."
The competition progressed swiftly, leading to the awards ceremony. The host announced that the winner of the Academy Award for Animated Short Film was Xiang Zeyi, from the oil painting department, for his work "Sunset." The judges praised his work for its national colors, distinct character personalities, smooth imagery, and unique theme. Xiang Zeyi went on stage to accept his award.
During his acceptance speech, he stated that he wasn't there just for the award but for a chance to speak to someone—a girl who had suddenly appeared in his life, a girl he had fallen in love with but who, for reasons unknown, seemed to hate him. He recalled telling her long ago that she could never get rid of him, and he wanted her to know that all his words, past, present, and future, came from his heart.
Then, to everyone's astonishment, he openly confessed his feelings for Ye Zi. Ye Zi was stunned and overwhelmed by his public declaration. Lin Sen, watching from the audience, had a grim expression. Flustered, Ye Zi rushed out of the hall. Xiang Zeyi immediately dropped the microphone and chased after her. He caught up to her, pulled her into his arms, and declared that she couldn't run away from him this time.
Ye Zi initially struggled but eventually relaxed in his embrace. Assuming she had accepted his feelings, Xiang Zeyi was surprised when Ye Zi proposed a challenge. She told him that if he could find the sticky note she had placed on the wall during the Cultural Festival within ten days, she would consider being his girlfriend. With that, she turned and ran off again. The story shifted back to the present day. Xiang Zeyi was having dinner with Zhang Daniao.
Zhang Daniao mentioned that Xirang and Zhuzi had seen Xiang Zeyi last week, then told Xiang Zeyi that he had lost the courage he possessed ten years ago. He then offered Xiang Zeyi a memory disk containing a video of his confession to Ye Zi, but Xiang Zeyi declined it, stating he didn't want to disturb Ye Zi's life and that she would forget him over time.
Just then, Zhang Daniao noticed Ye Zi and her friends at another table in the same restaurant. He attempted to get Xiang Zeyi to join them, but Xiang Zeyi firmly insisted on leaving. Zhang Daniao couldn't stop him and watched him go. After Xiang Zeyi left, Zhang Daniao greeted Ye Zi and her friends, who invited him to join them. Xirang confirmed that she and Zhang Daniao were still together after all these years. While at the table, Zhang Daniao discreetly slipped the memory disk into Ye Zi's bag, hoping she would find it later. He believed she needed to face the past.
