Ye Zi, feeling dispirited since Xiang Zeyi's disappearance, often found herself exhausted. One night, she fell asleep in the art studio. Lin Sen found her there, and Ye Zi woke up, momentarily calling out "Zeyi," thinking he had returned. Lin Sen had been searching for her all night, alerted by Zhu Xuan, and urged her to return to the dormitory and get some sleep, especially since the deadline for her "ideal script" project was the next day.
Ye Zi explained she was working to finish it and admitted the struggles of art students to find work, particularly when working independently, as she couldn't meet the high requirements of an art club. Lin Sen encouraged her, confident she wouldn't be defeated by difficulties. Back at the dorm, Ye Zi's roommates were waiting for her to have a hotpot meal. They were all excited, discussing their future plans.
Cheng Xi and Liu Xinran both decided to stay in the city, hoping to find jobs and settle down so the four friends could remain together. Later that evening, Ye Zi became increasingly emotional as she drank. Zhu Xuan directly asked if she still missed Xiang Zeyi. Ye Zi quietly admitted it would be a lie to say she didn't, as he was her first love.
However, she affirmed that he was merely a part of her college life, just a memory. Later, Ye Zi went to Director Shao's office for a meeting about a collaboration.
She arrived first, and soon Director Shao entered with another man, introducing him as Mr. Xiang Hui, the animation director for the project. When Ye Zi looked up, she realized "Mr. Xiang Hui" was none other than Xiang Zeyi. Director Shao, knowing they had things to say, made an excuse to leave, giving them a moment alone. The reunion was awkward; after years apart, there was little to say.
Ye Zi formally introduced herself as if they were strangers, which visibly pained Xiang Zeyi. They exchanged a brief handshake, and Ye Zi quickly excused herself, stating it was late and they could discuss the project later. Zhu Xuan was surprised to learn that Ye Zi would be working with Xiang Zeyi, or rather, Mr. Xiang Hui, asking when he changed his name. Before she could fully process this, Cheng Xi arrived, suggesting they go check on Liu Xinran.
Zhu Xuan disagreed, explaining that after Xinyu's passing, Liu Xinran needed space to release all her feelings and that they shouldn't disturb her. Zhu Xuan reminded Cheng Xi of her own past advice: to care for someone in a way they can accept, and right now, Liu Xinran needed to grieve without interruption. Despite their slight disagreement, they ultimately decided to try inviting Liu Xinran to a hotpot dinner at Ye Zi's apartment rooftop, unsure if she would come.
The three friends waited for a long time, eventually losing hope, but Liu Xinran finally appeared, looking distressed. They tried to keep the conversation light, focusing on work, but when Zhu Xuan saw Xinyu's favorite dish, she accidentally brought up Xinyu, immediately regretting it. Liu Xinran soon began to cry, reminiscing about Xinyu, who was ten years younger and had always promised to protect her, yet left too soon.
Liu Xinran tearfully recalled Xinyu's birth during a cold winter, her first smile, how she diligently searched for Liu Xinran's name on the high school wall, and even brought her mother's homemade meals to school, waiting outside to ensure Liu Xinran ate. She spoke of Xinyu's innocent questions about bullies and her unwavering promise of protection.
Liu Xinran lamented that she had believed all problems would be solved when they grew up, only to find that more problems arose after they matured. Seeing Liu Xinran completely drunk, Ye Zi sent a text message to Zhang Daniao to pick her up. Meanwhile, at Xiang Zeyi's home, Zhang Daniao received Ye Zi's message. Scared to go alone, he convinced Xiang Zeyi to accompany him, teasing him about Ye Zi being there.
When Zhang Daniao and Xiang Zeyi arrived at Ye Zi's place, Zhu Xuan and Cheng Xi left. Zhang Daniao gently took Liu Xinran home, where he apologized to her, acknowledging his mistakes and promising to be her "star" to grant wishes, saying he would always be with her. They reconciled, resolving their past issues. Back at Ye Zi's apartment, with only Ye Zi and Xiang Zeyi left, she walked to the edge of the rooftop.
She confronted him, referring to him as "Mr. Xiang Hui" and comparing him to the Xiang Zeyi she knew in college. She accused him of not being as brave, as careful, gentle, or humorous as her old friend. She tearfully recounted how the "old Xiang Zeyi" liked to touch her hair, prepared surprises, and made many promises, but then one day, he simply disappeared. She declared that perhaps he had died.
Overwhelmed by emotion and the unresolved questions of his disappearance, Ye Zi could not resist and embraced Xiang Zeyi. Separately, Lin Sen and Yuan Lang were drinking at a bar. Yuan Lang encouraged Lin Sen to pursue Ye Zi, but Lin Sen revealed he had been in love with Ye Zi for fifteen years and felt she pretended not to notice his feelings.
Despite knowing it might be a futile effort, Lin Sen decided he wouldn't give up easily and would try one more time to get an answer from Ye Zi. Yuan Lang, as his brother, offered his full support in his pursuit of Ye Zi.
