Cao Jian's lover Liu Yao died unexpectedly. Du Cheng questioned Cao Jian and learned that he last saw Liu Yao on the 22nd. Cao Xiaodong is Cao Jian and Liu Yao's son, but he lives elsewhere and looks down on his father Cao Jian, believing everything his father has today is thanks to his mother. Cao Xiaodong was accepted into a US Ivy League school. After graduating, he returned to the country for company rotation.

After the three-year rotation period ended, he was not groomed as the family business successor but was arranged to be the general manager of a club under the company. The preliminary cause of death for Liu Yao was determined to be multiple sharp object penetration injuries to abdominal organs. However, the body was frozen, so further testing is needed to determine the exact time of death.

However, the police collected an unfamiliar fingerprint from the doorknob, which is very likely left by the killer. Community surveillance showed that a person wearing a hat and mask entered the Cao family home through the back door using a card, and changed clothes upon leaving. Due to the mask, the person's appearance could not be immediately identified.

Du Cheng arranged for Jiang Feng to contact the property management and investigate everyone who entered the Cao family home, including property management staff. Shen Yi reconstructed the person's appearance and found that the person had a thin face and no eyebrows. The female lion statue at the club had its head smashed, which might indicate a change in the relationship between Cao Xiaodong and his mother. Cao Jian had invested in a gene research company called Jiangcheng Kailai Biotechnology, whose head was Fang Kaiyi, whom Shen Yi had met before.

Regarding the matter of Cao Jian bringing Zhou Shanshan for genetic testing, Fang Kaiyi said that Cao Jian had brought many women here for genetic testing, the purpose of which was to check for compatibility, and Zhou Shanshan was the last one. The Cao family has a strongly hereditary genetic defect, and Zhou Shanshan's genes happened to be a successful match.
