Muyun Hego ascended the throne, accepting the edict and imperial seal, with Gu Songzhi present, and declared his era name as "Yonggu." He also issued an imperial edict, installing Xue Huo's daughter, Ji Yuncong, as his Empress, to which Minister Xue gratefully knelt. Meanwhile, in Kyushu Inn, Nanku Yueli waited for Muyun Hego to send for her, but no one arrived, leaving her deeply angered.
As Ji Yuncong was being carried in a sedan chair toward the great hall, she felt no joy, wishing time would slow down, as her heart truly belonged to Muyun Sheng. She then noticed a large contingent of black-armored generals marching past. Upon inquiry, a palace attendant informed her that while palace guards wore silver armor, Mu Ru's forces wore black.
Realizing that the Mu Ru Iron Cavalry was likely staging a coup, Ji Yuncong smiled thinly and instructed the attendant to quickly leave the palace. In the great hall, Muyun Hego was discussing with his ministers how to deal with Muyun Sheng, when Yu Xinji, leading a large group of black-armored Mu Ru Iron Cavalry, burst in. Minister Xue questioned Yu Xinji's intentions.
Yu Xinji declared that the true traitor was sitting on the throne and stated his intention to remove this traitor on behalf of the Mu Ru family, professing that he cared not for the empire but only to remove those who framed the Mu Ru clan. Minister Xue then ordered the silver-armored guards to seize Yu Xinji, but they remained still, obeying only Yu Xinji's commands. Yu Xinji killed Minister Xue with a single sword stroke.
Nanku Mingyi, terrified by the events, immediately begged Yu Xinji to spare her son, Muyun Hego, offering to hand over the empire if he would let Muyun Hego go. Yu Xinji agreed to spare Muyun Hego, mockingly calling him a "mama's boy" hiding behind his mother. Enraged by the insult, Muyun Hego drew his sword and advanced to attack Yu Xinji, but he was quickly cut down and killed by two of Yu Xinji's soldiers before he could reach him.
Seeing Muyun Hego fall, all the ministers knelt. Nanku Mingyi then walked to Muyun Hego's body, pulled out a sword, and committed suicide. Gu Songzhi accused Yu Xinji of disloyalty and the entire Mu Ru clan of rebellion. Yu Xinji vehemently denied these accusations, stating he was not disloyal but was acting to prevent the great empire of Duan Dynasty from falling into the hands of an incompetent ruler. He then knelt, appealing to the spirit of the late emperor.
He further explained to the ministers that he was merely waiting for Mu Ruhanjiang to return from Hanzhou, as only Mu Ruhanjiang cared for the Mu Ru clan among the many princes. Back at Kyushu Inn, Nanku Yueli learned that Muyun Hego had betrayed her by marrying another woman as his Empress, and she was filled with a burning desire for revenge. Just then, black-armored guards, acting on Yu Xinji's orders, arrived at the inn to apprehend her.
Upon learning of Muyun Hego's and the Empress's defeat, Nanku Yueli, unwilling to be disgraced, attempted suicide by hitting her head against a wall. After the soldiers departed, Qin Yufeng, who had been crying over her body, realized she still had a faint breath. He informed the guards only that Nanku Yueli had died by her own hand and then secretly rescued her. In the Weiping Study, Mu Ru Iron Cavalry soldiers knelt, requesting Muyun Sheng to ascend the throne.
Muyun Sheng, who was reading, acknowledged that "it was inevitable." He then entered the great hall, somewhat nonchalantly despite wearing formal attire, and asked Yu Xinji what he wanted. Yu Xinji urged Muyun Sheng to be a good emperor, to learn steadiness, and to understand people's hearts, promising to protect the Muyun empire. Muyun Sheng, wearing Muyun Hego's dragon robes, accepted the imperial position and changed the era name to "Weiping."
He stated his awareness of Yu Xinji's loyalty and understood that his enthronement was a temporary measure, a delay until Mu Ruhanjiang's return, and pledged to immediately return the throne to Mu Ruhanjiang upon his arrival. Soon after, a victory report arrived from Hanzhou, confirming that Mu Ruhanjiang had led the Mu Ru Iron Cavalry to crush the Northern Land military camps, with the Mu Ru military banner still flying high.
Encouraged, Muyun Sheng walked to the Son of Heaven's Sword, drew it with his own hands, believing that since all order had been destroyed, he would now establish a new order and a completely new world for the Duan Dynasty. Meanwhile in Hanzhou, Shuofeng Heye, ambushing Mu Ru Iron Cavalry, inadvertently fell off a cliff. Surviving the fall, he drank some water by a river and began the long journey back to Hanzhou. Exhausted, he eventually collapsed.
In a trance, he saw his younger self, who guided him to the edge of the Black Forest, where he saw Tie Yuan and Tie Duo. The Chilang people revealed that they had saved Shuofeng Heye under the explicit orders of their master, the legendary "mysterious person" of Hanzhou. Elsewhere, Ziyan was imprisoned and pregnant.
She reflected on the tragic massacre of her entire Suxin tribe, where 10,000 Hanzhou people were killed by the Mu Ru Iron Cavalry, with only her and her unborn child surviving. She placed all her hopes on her child, wishing for it to be strong like Helan Tieyuan and intelligent like herself.
She vowed to spend every morning recounting the stories of the Suxin tribe to her child, and every evening telling it about their enemies, ensuring the child would remember their hatred for life. Just then, a shadowy figure, "the mysterious person" from the Hanzhou Black Forest, appeared before Ziyan. He told her that he had chosen her, and both she and her child must serve him as slaves for life, entrusted with keeping a profound secret.
He revealed that the spirit of the God of Desolation was awakening in Zhongzhou, and a seemingly weak royal man would utterly destroy all living things and creations made by the God of Ruins, returning the world to nothingness. He further explained that when the God of Ruins created all things, he hid his heart in Hanzhou, and only this heart could restart everything when the apocalypse of Kyushu arrived.
