The vast lands are gripped by impending conflict and political upheaval. In Hanzhou, Mu Ruhan Shan expresses envy for Mu Ruhanjiang, deeming him a born fighter due to his upbringing battling in the streets. Mu Ruhan Shan believes only true warriors are fit to be great generals and wishes to shed the responsibilities of his general's crown to fight freely and wholeheartedly.

His superior, Mu Rusuo, firmly insists that Mu Ruhan Shan must not shirk his duties, as victory against the Helan tribe is imperative. Mu Rusuo, having learned of the Helan tribe's plans from his scouts, orders his troops to rest for a night before launching a swift attack at dawn, aiming to conclude the battle quickly so they can return to Tianqi.

Meanwhile, among the Helan tribe, their leader Tie Yuan initially harbors thoughts of retreat, pondering if their ancestors' survival might have been secured by fleeing. However, Shuofeng Heye earnestly persuades Tie Yuan to abandon such notions and fight to the death for the future of Hanzhou's people.

Tie Yuan, resolving to fight, instructs Shuofeng Heye to gather all Hanzhou men, along with their warhorses and supplies, and concentrate them in a canyon on Shuofang Plain, ready to engage in battle near the Mu Ru main camp. The women and children, Hanzhou's future hope, are to remain in the main camp, as this is the only way for their survival.

Tie Yuan also orders Shuofeng Heye to bring Muyun Yanshuang to the battlefield, recognizing her potential usefulness as an Eastern Land woman. Shuofeng Heye, using an iron chain, binds himself tightly to Muyun Yanshuang. She misunderstands his intentions, believing he plans to use her as a hostage to deter the Mu Ru forces, and even warns him that her secret art's arrows could accidentally kill him.

However, Shuofeng Heye declares his unwavering resolve to face death alongside her, affirming that to die together in this battle would fulfill a past promise for them to be reborn together in the next life. As night falls, Hanzhou's men, led by Shuofeng Heye, depart for the canyon, leaving only women, children, and a bound Ziyan in the camp. Tie Yuan approaches Ziyan to bid his farewell, indicating he might never see her again.

Ziyan, who deeply loves Tie Yuan, expresses regret for marrying him and urges him to flee to save his life. Tie Yuan disregards her pleas, kneels to kiss her belly, then unbinds her, entrusting her with the care and survival of all the women and children. Ziyan watches him leave with tears, hoping for his safe return.

Elsewhere in Hanzhou, Hong Ling senses the presence of her kin on a warhorse and cries to Su He, revealing her father is alive. A woman from the Heshuo tribe, who is Hong Ling, prepares to leave to search for her relatives, prompting Su He to declare his love and promise to find her if he survives the impending battle.

The Danyao tribe's elder, Danyao Po Po, performs blessings for Tie Yuan and the warriors, who have all painted their faces with battle tattoo prepared for a fight where survival is uncertain. Meanwhile, in the imperial city of Tianqi, Emperor Mu Yunqin entrusts his succession edict to Yu Xinji for safekeeping. Mu Yunqin reveals his intention to pass the throne to Muyun Sheng and issues a groundbreaking decree granting a general amnesty to all Charm Spirits across the empire.

This decision deeply alarms high-ranking officials such as Xue Huo. In a Jiuzhou inn, Ji Yuncong receives a letter from Long Jinhuan, who instructs her to retreat to the underground city for her safety. Ji Yuncong, however, defies this order, instead bribing an inn waiter to monitor and facilitate a secret meeting with Xue Huo and Muyun De.

At Weiping Zhai, Muyun Sheng, still grappling with his longing for Pan Xi, experiences a phantom vision of her, yet knows it to be merely an illusion. Long Jinhuan then appears, claiming he possesses the means to bring Pan Xi back. Long Jinhuan shares the legend of Pan Xi as a unique sea Charm Spirit, whose phantom pearl originated from the Eye of the Desolate God and was dispatched to the human world to seek a powerful weapon.

He further reveals that the Charm Spirit within the pearl was previously killed by the Chenyue Cult but subsequently reborn within the pearl, her spiritual essence imbued with a divine seal. Muyun Sheng, whose yearning for Pan Xi is a long-standing torment, eagerly asks Long Jinhuan for his terms. Long Jinhuan explains his desire to restore Tianluo Hall, an organization originally founded by Charm Spirits for their self-protection, to its former prominence throughout Jiuzhou.

He reveals that both he and Muyun Sheng share Charm Spirit blood, lamenting that while other races can unite, Charm Spirits are forced to hide and face slaughter. Long Jinhuan proposes that if Muyun Sheng agrees to become emperor and help revive Tianluo Hall, he will find and resurrect Pan Xi across Jiuzhou. Muyun Sheng, without hesitation, agrees to the terms and expresses a desire to join Long Jinhuan in his quest.

However, Long Jinhuan, foreseeing Mu Yunqin's imminent demise, instructs Muyun Sheng to remain in Tianqi, awaiting the opportune moment to ascend the throne. The political unrest in Tianqi escalates as several princes, including Qing Wang and Jing Wang, jointly petition Mu Yunqin. When consulted, the diligent official Wu Ruyi declines to offer an opinion. The princes then resort to military coercion, pressuring Mu Yunqin to depose Muyun Sheng as Crown Prince.

Enraged, Mu Yunqin places all his hopes on Mu Rusuo's swift return to restore order to the volatile court. Back at the Jiuzhou Inn, Xue Huo's patience wears thin as he presses Muyun De about the timing of their plot against the Emperor, fearing their plans will collapse if Mu Rusuo's forces return.

Muyun De calmly asserts that the Emperor's life is not as crucial as the downfall of the Mu Ru family, emphasizing that using Mu Ruhanjiang remains their most effective strategy. While stating he has no objection if Xue Huo insists on the Emperor's immediate demise, Xue Huo, daunted by the gravity of regicide, eventually concedes, demanding that Mu Yunqin must die before Mu Rusuo's return. As Xue Huo leaves the room, Ji Yuncong intercepts him in the shadows, offering her assistance in carrying out the regicide.
