Muyun Luan confessed to Nanku Yueli that he could not forget an old acquaintance, the Empress Nanku Mingyi, whose shadow was deeply ingrained in his heart. He admitted he used Nanku Yueli as a substitute to fill the void, though his old acquaintance sought another man's heart. Nanku Yueli, aware she was a substitute, asked Muyun Luan if he truly could not let go of the Empress and if his lingering thoughts stemmed from never having obtained her.
Muyun Luan affirmed his inability to let go. Nanku Yueli stated she would never forget what she wanted and therefore did not care about Muyun Luan's sincerity. She correctly inferred the Empress's identity and remarked that desiring a man's heart while in the deep palace was foolish, signifying a loss the moment such a thought arose.
Muyun Luan praised her insight but considered her too bold for wagering everything on the "dying" Muyun Hego, wishing to see if she could succeed. Nanku Yueli confidently stated she understood Muyun Hego and believed he would trust her if she could deceive him. Her ambition was to help Muyun Hego turn his fortunes around, having invested her "sole capital" in him. Muyun Luan agreed to accompany her to Muyun Hego.
He also mentioned that if Yueli persuaded Hego to abandon peace talks with Hanzhou, the Empress would thank her, but Yueli desired no such thanks. In an inn's banquet hall, Muyun Hego waited in vain for ministers to attend his farewell banquet after the auspicious time, growing disheartened. He felt abandoned and betrayed, noting how people were cold-hearted, having received no one to bid him farewell now that he was in disgrace, despite his past generosity.
He told Lan Yuer to clear the banquet. Just then, Muyun Luan and Nanku Yueli entered, and Yueli immediately told Hego not to clear the banquet. Hego initially ignored Yueli, looking directly at Muyun Luan and greeting his uncle. Muyun Luan clarified he was only escorting Yueli, not attending the banquet. Realizing Hego despised her due to her status as an official courtesan, Yueli removed her veil before him, revealing her disfigured face.
She claimed she had injured her face to preserve her purity. Muyun Hego was moved and filled with guilt, mistakenly believing Yueli had been guarding her purity for him all these years, waiting for his intentions. Yueli reassured Hego not to be disheartened, confident that he would succeed and that people "would" attend the banquet. Outside the banquet hall, Muyun Luan voiced skepticism about Yueli's chances.
However, immediately after, Xue Huo arrived with a group of ministers, claiming to bid farewell to Muyun Hego. Hego was overjoyed. Muyun Luan, seeing Yueli's smile, realized she had orchestrated this. The unexpected alliance of Muyun Hego and Xue Huo (who was willing to help the compliant Hego) raised an alarm for Muyun Luan and his son, Muyun De, who perceived them as a strong new enemy.
To eliminate future worries, Muyun Luan and Muyun De decided to eliminate Muyun Hego in Hanzhou and frame Muryu Suo. The next day, Muyun De bribed Ageb with gold to deliver a letter to Suo Dameng in Hanzhou. Meanwhile, Tie Duo was deeply in love with Shuofeng Heye. She told him that Muyun Yanshuang and Jinzhu Hai would become a thing of the past, and she would make him forget those he loved, filling his heart only with her.
Shuofeng Heye, however, told Tie Duo he would never like her because she had killed Jinzhu Hai and hurt Muyun Yanshuang. Tie Duo, heartbroken and frustrated, cried out to the sky, refusing to accept his rejection and vowing to make him love her. She also experienced a dream where she forcefully kissed Heye, only for him to coldly push her away, which then woke her.
After this, seeing blossoming flowers and recalling Heye's past desire to directly attack Tianqi, Tie Duo decided to go to Tianqi to lay the groundwork for him. Her plan to cross the Tiantuo Strait was overheard by slave hunter Long Ge Kun, who claimed Suo Dameng was a friend and offered help, but Tie Duo dismissed him. At the Helan tribe camp, Tie Yuan prepared for battle.
He instructed Dan Yao Amu and Su He to imbue the Suchen tribe's Red Cloud Arrows with secret arts/curses. This would ensure the arrows hit their targets, but at the cost of the Suchen tribe members' lives, turning them into suicide warriors against the Muryu Iron Cavalry. The Suchen tribe members showed no fear of death, embracing their role as suicide warriors for the Iron King, believing death was merely a return to the embrace of the gods/heaven.
They were grateful to the Iron King for leading them closest to the gods. Tie Yuan was moved by their resolve. He ordered Su He to bless the warriors and declared he had wagered all tribal provisions and able-bodied members on this battle, determined to win instantaneously. Shuofeng Heye expressed concern about staking all provisions on this battle and Tie Yuan's strategy.
Tie Yuan explained they must win because he was unwilling to remain in Hanzhou, where the "true Hanzhou" lacked grass, land, or life, possessing only quicksand and blizzards. He defied the gods' allocation and was resolved to lead his people and future generations to the fertile lands of the Eastern Land, even if it cost everything. Shuofeng Heye supported Tie Yuan, pleased with his vision. They believed the Muryu family was the last formidable "blade" in the Eastern Land.
Once this blade was broken, conquering the most fertile lands in Kyushu would be easy, lamenting that the Eastern Land court itself had dulled the Muryu family's sharp blade, thereby providing them with an opportunity. The Muryu Iron Cavalry, led by Muryu Suo and Muryu Hanshan, was nearing the Helan main camp/Hanzhou army's main camp after a long journey.
Muryu Suo grew increasingly worried, fearing Tie Yuan already knew of their plan to raid the camp and had set a trap. They were unaware that Tie Yuan and Shuofeng Heye had indeed set a trap. Muryu Hanshan, understanding his father's concerns and recalling Muryu Ruhanjiang's strategic approach of doing less but achieving more, decided to emulate him. He led a light cavalry unit to scout ahead for Muryu Suo.
Muryu Suo watched Hanshan depart, filled with worry and praying for his safe return. In Tianqi City, Muyun Luan prepared to return to Wanzhou. He expressed concern that Muryu Ruhanjiang might not disrupt the court as they predicted. Muyun De reassured his father, telling him to return without worry. Emperor Muyun Qin had ordered Muryu Ruhanjiang into the palace, and Muyun De was confident he had a plan to ensure Ruhanjiang fulfilled their wishes once he was inside.
Muyun Luan, no longer doubting Muyun De's confidence, cautioned him to act carefully. As he left, he mused that when he next entered Tianqi, Kyushu and Tianqi might remain the same, but the people within the city would have changed. Muyun De knelt to respectfully bid his father farewell.
