At Kyushu Inn's basement, Mu Ruhanjiang inquired with manager Qin Yufeng about his mother, Mu Ru Furen, also known as Muyun Yan. Qin Yufeng was surprised but revealed that Mu Ru Furen had passed away. While the public widely believed she was killed by her own son, Mu Rushuo (Mu Ruhanjiang's father) had spread this rumor and ordered the execution of his third son after he took the future Empress.
The truth, however, was that Muyun Yan, to prevent Mu Rushuo from pursuing and killing Mu Ruhanjiang, chose to take her own life in front of Mu Rushuo, suffering severe injuries that led to her death. Mu Rushuo, filled with immense guilt, established her tomb within the Mu Ru mansion. Mu Ruhanjiang was deeply shocked and distraught by the news of his mother's sacrifice for him, struggling to believe such a kind mother would resort to suicide.
He became determined to visit her ancestral hall at the Mu Ru family mansion to pay his respects. Qin Yufeng warned him against it, explaining that Mu Ruhanjiang was currently wanted throughout Kyushu, with Mu Rushuo issuing a kill order against him. Rashly going out would undoubtedly lead to confrontation with the Mu Ru army. Qin Yufeng also recognized that Mu Ruhanjiang's escorts were not to be trifled with and he couldn't risk letting him leave.
After a moment of sorrow, remembering his mother's past care, Mu Ruhanjiang pleaded to leave for one night. Qin Yufeng, despite the danger, eventually returned with the Hanche sword, giving it to Mu Ruhanjiang and secretly allowing him to depart to fulfill his wish. Mu Ruhanjiang, grateful, promised to return immediately after paying his respects. Meanwhile, Xue Huo and Muyun Luan were secretly plotting to seize Kyushu.
Xue Huo proposed dividing the empire equally, aspiring to emulate the legendary brotherhood of the Duan Dynasty ancestors and Mu Ru Tian Tong from 300 years prior, which inspired all men in Kyushu. Muyun Luan found this ambition for shared military power slightly displeasing, gravely telling Xue Huo that there was no dividing of the empire, only mutual reliance; if Xue Huo helped him become king, he would guarantee Xue Huo's safety.
During their meeting, Muyun De forcibly brought Nanku Yueli in and ordered her to entertain Xue Huo with music. Xue Huo was surprised to see Nanku Yueli, who had been missing for years, noting that Muyun De must have hidden her. Nanku Yueli, unwilling, knelt and begged Muyun Luan for intervention. Muyun Luan, after scrutinizing Nanku Yueli's appearance, commanded her to sing "Song of Reunion with a Lover." Muyun De asserted his ownership over Nanku Yueli.
Long Jinhuan soon discovered Mu Ruhanjiang's disappearance and furiously interrogated Qin Yufeng, demanding to know his whereabouts. Qin Yufeng defiantly stated that the inn was his territory, and he could release anyone he wished. Enraged, Long Jinhuan struck Qin Yufeng before setting off in pursuit of Mu Ruhanjiang. Mu Ruhanjiang, back at the Mu Ru mansion under the cover of night, intended to kowtow before his mother's memorial tablet.
However, Mu Ruhanjiang, who had long harbored resentment towards Mu Ruhanjiang, intercepted him. He ordered the Mu Ru iron cavalry to block Mu Ruhanjiang and take his head, accusing him of causing their mother's death and intending to make him pay with his life. Unyielding, Mu Ruhanjiang wielded the Hanche sword and single-handedly challenged the entire Mu Ru army. Remembering the battle formations taught by his master, Mu Ruyuan, Mu Ruhanjiang successfully broke through the intricate Mu Ru army array.
News of Mu Ruhanjiang breaking the formation reached Mu Ruhanjiang, who deduced that Mu Ruyuan had taught him the method. This deepened Mu Ruhanjiang's jealousy, prompting him to mobilize even more troops to ensure Mu Ruhanjiang's demise. Mu Ruhanjiang, confronting Mu Ruhanjiang, easily subdued him.
Mu Ruhanjiang declared that he only wished to pay his respects to his mother, to return the "mother" he owed her, and that afterward, he would be a stranger to the Mu Ru family and accept any punishment Mu Ruhanjiang deemed fit. Mu Ruhanjiang agreed. Mu Ruhanjiang then knelt and slowly crawled towards the ancestral hall.
Mu Ruhanjiang, wielding a stick, repeatedly struck Mu Ruhanjiang, proclaiming that he was unworthy of calling her mother, that he had disgraced their surname by fighting over a woman, betrayed the family, and had no right to accuse others. Despite the physical pain and deep sorrow, recalling his mother's love, Mu Ruhanjiang persisted in crawling towards the ancestral hall. As he was about to enter, Mu Ruhanjiang struck him hard, knocking him unconscious.
In that critical moment, Long Jinhuan suddenly appeared, using secret arts to kill all the surrounding Mu Ru iron cavalry before taking Mu Ruhanjiang back to the Kyushu Inn's cell. Mu Ruhanjiang's escape infuriated Muyun De, who scolded Qin Yufeng, holding him responsible for nearly ruining his plans. Fearing for his future, Qin Yufeng, under the cover of night, brought his years of accumulated savings to Nanku Yueli's room, hoping to help her financially.
He explained that he understood Nanku Yueli's desire for a better life, having experienced many hardships himself rising from apprentice to manager. He apologized for previously looking down on her, admitting it was because he had looked down on himself. Nanku Yueli refused the gold coins, spilling them on the ground, asserting she didn't need them.
She proclaimed her firm belief that Muyun Hege had been released and would come to pick her up and marry her to make her Empress. Qin Yufeng, saddened by her refusal, bent down to pick up the scattered coins, stating that every coin was hard-earned and deserved respect. He mused that gold was only valuable when needed; otherwise, it was just a burden.
In the Imperial Palace, the Empress (presumably Nanku Mingyi) instructed Wu Ruyi to prepare a sedan chair to fetch Muyun Hege. However, Muyun Hege chose to walk barefoot through the palace, not wanting to appear ostentatious and displease Emperor Muyun Qin. Having been confined for many years, he had thoroughly recognized his past mistakes. He arrived at Emperor Muyun Qin's palace, kneeling at the gates to sincerely admit his wrongdoings. He felt a profound sense of emotion returning to the place he had visited countless times before.
