In Hanzhou, at the Helan Tribe camp, Shuofeng Heye and Tieduo deliver urgent news to Tieyuan. Grain supplied from Wanzhou has been seized by Suodameng at the port, who has also refused to provide salt. Their tribe's remaining provisions will last only about a month, while the Muru Iron Cavalry is also nearing exhaustion, with merely tens of days of supplies left.
Though Tieyuan expresses satisfaction at the Muru's plight and expects to win without fighting in ten days, Shuofeng Heye warns him that starving wolves are the fiercest. Following the massacre of the Sucen tribe, Ziyan, despite being pregnant, decides to lead her people in seeking revenge, knowing that Tieyuan will not readily dispatch troops for their cause.
Her tribespeople initially hesitate, believing that fighting should be left to men, but Ziyan is resolute, stating that a mother lion protecting her cubs must first kill the male lion. Ultimately, her tribespeople pledge their unwavering loyalty, cutting their wrists in a solemn vow to follow her. Meanwhile, at the Weiping Chamber, a group of masked assassins, hired for money, attacks Muyun Sheng.
Yu Xinji defends him, urging him to flee, but Muyun Sheng, possessing secret arts, shows no fear and even instructs Yu Xinji and the guards to leave. Yu Xinji, a skilled fighter, defeats one assassin. Muyun Sheng, displaying a moment of soft-heartedness, spares a young assassin, who ungratefully retaliates by striking him with a "corpse deer needle," sealing his spiritual power and rendering his secret arts unusable.
Defenseless, Muyun Sheng is shielded by Yu Xinji, who continues to protect him tightly against the increasing number of attackers. At the Jiuzhou Inn, Gusong Zhi meets with Xue Huo (also known as Xue Daren) and other high-ranking officials. The sons of ministers, who had committed suicide in shame after Muyun Sheng exposed their corruption to Emperor Muyun Qin, assault Gusong Zhi, blaming him for revealing their collective bullying of Muyun Qin in court.
This exposure led Muyun Sheng to use his "charm arts" to investigate their years of corruption and illegal activities. Emperor Muyun Qin now avoids court, instead summoning officials daily to hear stories, causing panic among the ministers, who fear future retribution. They have sent their families away from Tianqi, dismissed servants, and prepared for an uncertain future. Gusong Zhi attributes all their troubles to Muyun Sheng's "charm arts."
Xue Huo and the ministers devise a plan to reverse their fortunes, concluding that their current predicament is a dead end. They decide to act against Emperor Muyun Qin, believing that with a new emperor, all past grievances would be forgotten.
Gusong Zhi is shocked that Xue Huo dares to propose assassinating the emperor at the Jiuzhou Inn, but Xue Huo explains that the inn is Muyun Luan's territory, and discussing it there would implicate Muyun Luan, thus strengthening their position. The innkeeper of Jiuzhou Inn, Qin Yufeng, overhears their conversation and reports it to Muyun De, instructing him to inform Muyun Luan. Muyun De then appears in the room.
Although Xue Huo initially keeps details from Muyun De, Muyun De directly offers his assistance. He reveals his plan to transform Mu Ruhanjiang into a "three-edged sword" capable of killing the Muyun family, slaughtering the Muru family, breaking alliances, and causing chaos across the realm. Muyun De believes that only through widespread chaos in the world and Kyushu can true heroes emerge.
In an underground city, also known as Wuyang City, Fan La Wang (also known as Wisdom King Fan Lakaise), has captured Hasi Cong to decipher a cryptic sphere, also referred to as an iron ball. Fan La Wang intends to find the Imperial Seal before Mu Ruhanjiang. Mu Ruhanjiang, meanwhile, is trapped in an iron cage. Fan La Wang smugly tells Mu Ruhanjiang that Hasi Cong will soon reveal the iron ball's secret.
Fan La Wang has also taken Mu Ruhanjiang's Hanche sword, intending to make a retractable pole for him. As Hasi Cong works and Fan La Wang measures the Hanche sword, Long Jinhuan (also known as Mr. Long) appears, cutting open Mu Ruhanjiang's iron cage with Heavenly Net Steel Wire, freeing him. Long Jinhuan tries to subdue Mu Ruhanjiang, but Mu Ruhanjiang's martial arts are superior.
Long Jinhuan reveals he is a Mei clan member, or Mei spirit, similar to Muyun Sheng, both being half-human, half-Mei beings rejected by the world. Long Jinhuan explains that he came specifically for Mu Ruhanjiang, stating they need Mu Ruhanjiang to lead them to Muyun Sheng so they can kill Muyun Sheng and complete their mission. Mu Ruhanjiang refuses to harm Muyun Sheng and subdues Long Jinhuan, but Long Jinhuan uses secret arts to stun him.
Upon discovering Mu Ruhanjiang stunned by Long Jinhuan, Fan La Wang reminds Long Jinhuan of their agreement: Long Jinhuan must use Ji Yuncong's power to help Mu Ruhanjiang become emperor. Long Jinhuan feigns agreement but then, when Fan La Wang is unprepared, stabs him with a dagger, mocking his naivety and stating that humans will always view "Heluo" (referring to Fan La Wang's identity) as foolish.
Fortunately, Fan La Wang, who is a Heluo, was prepared; a metal plate in his abdomen blocked the dagger. He rises after Long Jinhuan leaves, enraged by this betrayal, and prepares to declare war on humans. Su Yuning is chained in a room in the underground city, having been captured by Ji Yuncong, who impersonated Mu Ruhanjiang to lure her.
Ji Yuncong visits, intending to kill Muyun Sheng and demanding that Su Yuning convince Mu Ruhanjiang to lead them to Muyun Sheng in Tianqi City. Su Yuning refuses. Shortly after, Long Jinhuan brings the stunned Mu Ruhanjiang to Su Yuning. Su Yuning is delighted to see Mu Ruhanjiang, who, upon regaining consciousness, intends to break her chains and take her to safety, vowing never to harm a friend or leave her in danger.
Su Yuning stops Mu Ruhanjiang, then declares her deep feelings for him, describing him as the person who brings sunshine and warmth to her world. She then kisses Mu Ruhanjiang, but as he responds, she pushes him away and, to prevent him from being put in a difficult position or harming his friends, stabs herself with a knife.
