Su Yuning, holding half a sword tassel, waited in Yishui Village for Mu Ruhanjiang's return, as heavy snow fell in June. She made a thick quilt for Mu Ruhanjiang's house and sat, missing him deeply. Meanwhile, Mu Ruhanjiang, remembering Muyun Lu's words about a map and the need to find secret history books in Longyuan Pavilion to understand it and locate the Imperial Seal, had initially set out to find the map to change Su Yuning's fate.
He then encountered an attack by Tianluo Tang, who captured him and brought him to an underground palace, intending to blow it up and perish with him to avenge a past grudge. Miraculously surviving, Mu Ruhanjiang emerged from a hole, disheveled, into the Underground City. Two Heluo people, surprised to find a human, bound him and took him to Fanlakai Se, the Wisdom King of the Suomo Nation, as per their laws.
In the Wisdom King's rock room, Mu Ruhanjiang observed everything with curiosity. Fanlakai Se, obsessed with books and experiments, was attempting to create underground sunlight using diamond ore but failing repeatedly. Mu Ruhanjiang, seeing his struggles, helped him. A female Heluo called Mu Ruhanjiang a "stupid human," and a male Heluo said he was "foolish" for acting wildly before the king. Seeing Mu Ruhanjiang's intelligence, Fanlakai Se asked his purpose. Mu Ruhanjiang smiled and said he simply wanted to leave.
Fanlakai Se dismissed the idea, stating Wuyang City had three hundred Jifengjia (mechanical armor) that could track him, even placing a magnetic bracelet on Mu Ruhanjiang's hand to ensure this. Mu Ruhanjiang, however, paid no mind to the threat and casually ate meat slices from the table, prompting an annoyed Fanlakai Se to ring for more food. When a female Heluo brought food, she was surprised to find Fanlakai Se cutting Mu Ruhanjiang's hair.
Mu Ruhanjiang was surprised to see only a single potato for dinner, and Fanlakai Se explained the severe hardship of underground life, where no food could be grown, and the potato itself had been stolen from the surface. To earn his freedom, Mu Ruhanjiang had to answer three questions. Fanlakai Se's first question was what he hated most. His second was why Mu Ruhanjiang was smarter than him, and his third was his lifelong ambition.
Mu Ruhanjiang, having crafted diamond ore superior to Fanlakai Se's, answered that Fanlakai Se hated "disorder" most and humbly denied being smarter. Fanlakai Se confirmed these two answers were correct. He also confirmed that he already knew Mu Ruhanjiang's identity, as the "cold sword" signified Mu Ruhanjiang as a future Duan Dynasty royal.
Fanlakai Se revealed his lifelong ambition was to fulfill a contract with the Duan Dynasty kingdom, allowing the Suomo Heluo people to return to the surface and build a true Suomo Nation under the sun. For his third question, Fanlakai Se sought Mu Ruhanjiang's help in finding the Imperial Seal, which was crucial for the Heluo to return to the surface.
Mu Ruhanjiang, in turn, revealed that the renowned Heluo master Hasicong was in the Muru Iron Cavalry army camp, a fact that greatly impressed Fanlakai Se. In Tianqi City's Imperial Palace, Muyun Qin and Murusuo drank tea. Muyun Qin was hesitant about ordering Murusuo to lead an expedition to Hanzhou. Murusuo affirmed his duty as a subject to obey the Emperor's commands but expressed concern about being ostracized and slandered by court officials after leaving Tianqi City.
Muyun Qin found Wanzhou tea too bland, signifying his trust in Murusuo was no longer as unwavering as before. He decided Murusuo must lead the expedition, emphasizing, "This battle, only victory, no defeat." He then instructed Murusuo to "fight fast, win fast, return fast," promising they would drink tea again upon his return.
In Muru Manor, Murusuo led his two sons and the Muru army to worship at the family tomb or ancestral hall, where they reorganized their troops and morale, swearing to achieve victory in Hanzhou. Meanwhile, at Shangyang Pass, Mu Ruhanchan, ordered to defend the border, frequently insulted Yu Xinji, reminding him he was merely a Muru family servant. Yu Xinji warned Mu Ruhanchan not to underestimate the warriors of Hanzhou and urged caution in defending Shangyang Pass.
A Hanzhou warrior arrived at the city gate, carrying the Helan tribe banner, attempting to deliver a battle report as was customary. Mu Ruhanchan, intent on crushing Hanzhou's indomitable spirit, ordered archers to kill the warrior. Yu Xinji, admiring the warrior's spirit and determination to cross border defenses and the Tiankuo Strait to deliver his message, tried to intervene, suggesting a duel and stating that a true warrior should die by the sword, not by countless arrows.
Mu Ruhanchan asserted his sole command at Shangyang Pass, threatening immediate execution for anyone who disobeyed. The archers fired, and the Hanzhou warrior, struck by many arrows, delivered the news that the Muru Iron Cavalry had been defeated by Tieqin Wang Tieyuan and Shuofeng Heye in Feiyun Valley before succumbing to his wounds.
