Muyun Lu's severe injuries failed to improve, prompting him to insist on going to Qingyu Ridge to find the Imperial Seal. He confessed that he saw this as his only opportunity to win Su Yuning, who was destined to be Empress and would otherwise marry the newly appointed Crown Prince Muyun Sheng. Although Muyun Lu had previously claimed indifference to the throne, he now asserted he needed to compete for it for Su Yuning's sake.

Su Yuning, however, maintained she didn't need anyone to fight for her and believed she could resist any forced marriage. Muyun Lu countered that defying an imperial decree would doom her entire family. To aid his quest, Muyun Lu entrusted Mu Ruhanjiang with a map, contained within a black iron ball to be opened only upon reaching Longyuan Pavilion in Qingyu Ridge, and tasked him with finding the Imperial Seal should anything happen to Muyun Lu.

Mu Ruhanjiang, worried about Muyun Lu's worsening condition and disapproving of the dangerous quest, decided to get him back to Tianqi. He knocked Muyun Lu unconscious under the pretense of bandaging his wounds.

In the underground city, Mu Ruhanjiang had fought against Wang Duo's Nine-Layer Array (also known as the Heavenly Net Array) to protect Su Yuning and Muyun Lu, after Mr. Long (also referred to as Long Jinhuan, whom Mu Ruhanjiang later fought to help them escape) had ordered Wang Duo to kill Su Yuning. Su Moma (referred to as Su Zhen in one instance), hearing the threat, bravely intervened, pleading with Wang Duo to spare Su Yuning.

As Mu Ruhanjiang, aided by Muyun Lu, broke the array and moved to strike Wang Duo, Su Moma shielded Wang Duo, taking the fatal blow and dying instantly. Wang Duo, bound by a life-and-death promise with Su Moma, then committed suicide.

Although Su Yuning was grateful to Mu Ruhanjiang for fighting Long Jinhuan and enabling their escape, she was deeply disturbed by Su Moma's sacrifice for Wang Duo and Mu Ruhanjiang's fierce eyes during the killings, declaring these events a lifelong barrier between them. Mu Ruhanjiang, heartbroken and suppressing his pain, asked her to forget him and the incident, stating he would not appear again, leading to their parting ways.

Later, Su Yuning confessed to Muyun Lu that her perceived resentment towards Mu Ruhanjiang over Su Moma's death was a deliberate ploy to distance him and ensure his safety, hoping he wouldn't vie for the throne for her sake and thus avoid conflict with his Mu Ruhan family, as she didn't want him to lose them. Mu Ruhanjiang arranged for Su Yuning to accompany the unconscious Muyun Lu back to Tianqi Palace for her safety.

Su Yuning, despite her strong feelings for Mu Ruhanjiang but perceiving his lack of desire to keep her and burdened by the misunderstandings surrounding Su Moma's death, agreed to return with Muyun Lu. Following Mu Ruhanjiang's anonymous tip-off, Mu Rusu and Mu Ruhan Mountain arrived with the Liontooth Guards to retrieve Muyun Lu.

Mu Ruhanjiang, recalling past grievances—including his father Mu Rusu's previous command for him to die, which had led Mu Ruhanjiang to attempt suicide to repay his blood debt and decide to sever ties with the Muru family—hid to avoid being discovered by Mu Rusu. In the carriage back to Tianqi, Muyun Lu questioned Mu Ruhanjiang's absence and expressed disapproval of Su Yuning and Mu Ruhanjiang's actions.

He discussed his views on monarchs and voiced concern that Mu Ruhanjiang might find the Imperial Seal and rebel for Su Yuning, thereby fulfilling the prophecy. Muyun Lu revealed he had always understood Su Yuning's true feelings for Mu Ruhanjiang, and her deliberate resentment over Su Moma's death was a stratagem to distance him and ensure his safety, preventing him from fighting for the throne and clashing with the Muru family.

Although Muyun Lu envied their genuine affection, Su Yuning's strong feelings for Mu Ruhanjiang only intensified his own possessiveness. He urged her to consider the situation seriously, suggesting that being with him would ultimately be the best choice for Mu Ruhanjiang, and expressed his hope that he could one day be the person she cared for. Mid-journey, Mu Rusu stopped the carriage for a private meeting with Muyun Lu.

Mu Rusu demanded that Muyun Lu hand over the item, stating that Emperor Muyun Qin was aware of everything. Muyun Lu, realizing his vigilance had been circumvented, admitted he was indeed searching for the Imperial Seal, which symbolized the throne. He expressed his heartache over the Emperor's perceived callousness, concluding that Muyun Qin had no intention of passing the throne to him and was instead favoring Muyun Sheng.

Mu Rusu, claiming he dared not interpret the Emperor's will, stopped pressing for the Imperial Seal's location after realizing Muyun Lu didn't have it. Instead, he subtly questioned Muyun Lu about the person who had been with him.

Despite Muyun Lu's attempt to dismiss the individual as a mere servant, Mu Rusu's astute nature led him to order Mu Ruhan Mountain to safely escort Muyun Lu and Su Yuning back to the palace, while Mu Rusu himself turned back to search for Mu Ruhanjiang. Elsewhere, Muyun Yanshuang, deeply moved by Shuofeng Heye's words, reflected on their past.

Gu Songtuo (also referred to as Gu Songzhi) questioned her decision to let Shuofeng Heye go, warning that it was like "releasing a tiger back to the mountains." Muyun Yanshuang, however, refused to pursue him, stating that her last silver-feathered arrow was meant for a king, not a slave.

She declared her intention to wait until Shuofeng Heye became the King of Jiuzhou (or Hanzhou), at which point she would personally use the arrow to kill him and extinguish the hope of all Hanzhou people. Meanwhile, Su He found Shuofeng Heye, initially being mistaken for a bandit in the forest.

Su He later healed Shuofeng Heye with special pills, explaining that the Dan Yao Old Woman had sent him to help Shuofeng Heye unlock his seals and had also shared a secret with him, causing Su He to doubt his own Sathan abilities. Shuofeng Heye encouraged Su He, affirming that everyone has an important purpose, regardless of physical strength, and expressed his belief in Su He's potential as an excellent Sathan.

Inspired, Su He insisted on joining Shuofeng Heye's perilous journey to the Black Forest to find the Chilan Cavalry (or warhorses for Tie Yuan), despite Shuofeng Heye's concerns about Su He's youth and the dangers. Su He believed this journey was essential for him to become the greatest Sathan in Hanzhou. During their trek through the snow, Su He questioned Shuofeng Heye's willingness to risk his life for warhorses.

Shuofeng Heye, driven by grand ambitions, explained he sought warhorses for all Hanzhou people, as they represented hope and were crucial to igniting the fighting spirit and confidence needed to oppose the Iron Cavalry and Tianqi armies.
