Having obtained evidence of them leaking business secrets, Ye Chengshu coerced Zhang Chengfeng and Li Polang into persuading other shareholders to sell their shares in Future Corporation. At a shareholder meeting, they created a panic by spreading rumors that Gu Huaiheng intended to crush the company. This led to a mass sell-off, pushing Future Corporation to the brink of bankruptcy.

To stabilize the plummeting stock price, Gu Huaiheng, as the largest shareholder, was forced to buy all the available shares, a move that severely drained Dingzhuang Group's cash flow. Around the same time, Gu Lingse signed a VAM agreement with a partner, promising on behalf of Dingzhuang Group to return 200 percent of the principal after one year.

The agreement also stipulated a return of 150 percent of the deposit immediately if the project terminated due to Dingzhuang Group's fault during the contract period. Shortly after, Gu Huaiheng called Gu Lingse, instructing her to visit Feite Venture Capital and secure a partnership with Mr. Duan before Ye Chengshu could. However, when Ye Chengshu later arrived at Feite Venture Capital, an assistant informed him that they had already partnered with Dingzhuang Group, leaving him frustrated.

Meanwhile, Ye Chengshu had instructed Jiang Han to prepare and widely disseminate a paper exposing serious safety risks in the Floating Eco-Island project. This was timed to coincide with Dingzhuang Group's press conference for the project. During the conference, news reports about the safety hazards surfaced, with journalists pointing out that the same design flaw had led to the collapse of the Sky Attic, a project designed by Ye Nanchuan.

They questioned why Dingzhuang Group was hiding this information, forcing Gu Lingse to abruptly end the conference. Confronted by Jiang Wenbin about implicating Ye Nanchuan, Jiang Han argued that it was necessary to portray Ye Nanchuan as fallible to effectively attack the project. Jiang Wenbin, deeply upset by the mention of past events, began coughing severely. Unbeknownst to many, Ye Chengshu had been steadily acquiring shares of Dingzhuang Group, aiming to take control after Gu Huaiheng's downfall.

This long-term strategy was rooted in the past: Ye Nanchuan, Jiang Wenbin, and Gu Huaiheng were once partners in a startup. Driven by greed, Gu Huaiheng had wrested control from Ye Nanchuan, ultimately establishing Dingzhuang Group. Ye Chengshu saw this as an opportunity to reclaim what rightfully belonged to his father. A news broadcast soon announced a joint statement from domestic investment banks, declaring a complete blockade on investment into Dingzhuang Group.

Upon hearing this, and recalling Gu Lingse's earlier actions with Feite Venture Capital and the VAM agreement, Ye Chengshu realized she was intentionally weakening Gu Huaiheng and Dingzhuang Group, effectively helping him. He was deeply moved by her silent support. True to his realization, Gu Lingse proceeded to compensate the partners according to the VAM agreement, disbursing all of Dingzhuang Group's remaining cash and leaving Gu Huaiheng with no funds to purchase new shares to bolster the company.

Desperate, Gu Huaiheng ordered his assistant, Dong Tang, to bring Qiu Hui to him. Dong Tang convinced Qiu Hui it was her birthday and Gu Huaiheng had a surprise for her. When she insisted on Gu Huaiheng picking her up personally, Dong Tang forcibly took her. Upon seeing Gu Huaiheng, Qiu Hui was overjoyed.

Gu Huaiheng then presented her with a document, deceptively telling her to sign it so they could go home and claiming he would be "in danger" if she didn't. Though Qiu Hui initially hesitated, recalling Gu Huaiheng's past warnings against signing documents randomly, she ultimately signed to protect him. Shortly after, Ye Chengshu and Zhao Guobang, also known as Feite Zhao from Feite Venture Capital and a long-time admirer of Qiu Hui, arrived to confront Gu Huaiheng for repayment.

Ye Chengshu had previously met with Zhao Guobang, convincing him to agree that when Dingzhuang Group ran out of cash, all investment banks should withhold support. Gu Huaiheng, unashamed and arrogant, produced the contract Qiu Hui had signed, declaring that she was now responsible for the debt and that he would never be defeated. Enraged, Zhao Guobang called Gu Huaiheng a "beast" and threatened him for harming Qiu Hui.

Before the confrontation could escalate further, the police arrived and arrested Gu Huaiheng, informing him he was suspected of economic disputes and needed to cooperate with their investigation. Gu Huaiheng scoffed, dismissing their claims as slander and demanding proof.
