To Be A Brave One Episode 36 (Ending) Recap
> To Be A Brave One Recap
After successfully putting Yiyi to sleep, Lailai expressed her admiration for children's boundless energy and deep sleep. She found Ye Kai researching cases of intracranial hemorrhage coma and asked about the chances of recovery, to which he replied, "Very unlikely." Lailai immediately dismissed this negative outlook, asserting that Shao Moli would definitely recover, attributing Ye Kai's findings to "survival bias." Lailai then shared her deep concern for An Yu, finding her state at the hospital truly heartbreaking.
Ye Kai, in turn, urged Lailai to be there for An Yu during this difficult time and to ensure Yiyi was well cared for. This experience made Lailai reflect on the fragility of life. She resolved that she and Kai should cherish their time together and no longer waste it on arguments. As Ye Kai embraced Lailai, he was overcome with emotion, confessing how much he missed Shao Moli, with whom he had spent over a decade.
He lamented how every waking moment used to involve arguments and jokes with Shao Moli, but now he felt helpless. Lailai comforted him, suggesting they postpone their wedding until Shao Moli recovered, assuring him that Shao Moli would indeed wake up. At the hospital, Fei'er watched the quiet Shao Moli, remarking that he seemed unlike himself. Playfully, she threatened to post his "ugly photo" on Moments if he didn't wake up.
Fei'er then told An Yu that she and Shao Moli had met abroad while vying for a painting. The artist was now holding an exhibition in Yuqing, and Fei'er suggested they all go once Shao Moli woke up. An Yu leaned in, echoing Fei'er's words, urging Shao Moli to wake up to see his favorite artist's exhibition.
Fei'er also reassured An Yu about the company's matters, saying that the issues with Zhuoyue were under control, and Fang Li and Su were handling the establishment of the independent investment department, with everything progressing smoothly. Fei'er commended An Yu, calling her the bravest person she had ever met. An Yu cancelled three tickets for a trip to Sanya. She then visited a bookstore, where observing a mother and child drawing stirred old memories within her.
Later, she went to the secret hide-and-seek spot she used to frequent with Shao Moli as a child, overcome with emotion. She placed the Sirius lamp, a gift, by Shao Moli's hospital bed and visited him daily, often bringing Yiyi along. Her work suffered due to her exhaustion, but she maintained a routine of sitting alone with the Sirius lamp in the living room at night and caring for Shao Moli at the hospital during the day.
On the day before Chinese New Year's Eve, An Yu was leaving the hospital when Lailai called, inviting her for dinner. An Yu declined, explaining she was too tired. Lailai then suggested to Ye Kai that they pack some food and send it to An Yu, to which Ye Kai agreed. Back home, An Yu, utterly fatigued, fell asleep holding the Sirius lamp.
In her dream, she found herself in a field of sparkling flowers, where a black knight slowly approached, calling her name. She awoke to find the Sirius lamp glowing. Instantly, she rushed to the hospital and saw Shao Moli standing by the window. Their eyes met, and An Yu shed tears of intense joy. An Yu took Yiyi to visit Zhou Yuan in prison. Zhou Yuan apologized to An Yu.
Yiyi innocently asked if his father was locked up by monsters, and Zhou Yuan confirmed it, explaining he was fighting them every day and would come home when Yiyi grew taller. Yiyi promised to drink milk to grow quickly so he could see his father sooner. An Yu assured Zhou Yuan that she would bring Yiyi to visit him often, and that time would pass quickly. Later, An Yu brought Yiyi to see Mi Lu.
Yiyi enthusiastically told Mi Lu that he had seen Daddy, who would return home after defeating the monsters, and urged "Mommy" (Mi Lu) to also fight her monsters to be with him soon. Mi Lu promised to try her best and asked Yiyi if An Yu treated him as well as a mother would. Yiyi confirmed that she did.
Mi Lu then told Yiyi he could call An Yu "Mommy" too, giving him two mothers and double the love, to which Yiyi happily agreed. An Yu thanked Mi Lu, expressing confidence that Yiyi would be very happy with two loving mothers. Mi Lu, in turn, apologized to An Yu, lamenting that if she had intervened earlier, their lives might have unfolded differently.
An Yu encouraged her to let go of the past and start anew, promising to bring Yiyi to visit frequently. The wedding of Lailai and Ye Kai finally took place amidst joyous celebration, with An Yu leading the bridesmaids and Shao Moli leading the groomsmen. The bridesmaids playfully created "three obstacles" for the groom. The first challenge was to guess Lailai's lip print from several options within 30 seconds, which proved difficult for the groomsmen.
From outside the door, Ye Kai called for his "dear," prompting the bridesmaids to demand identification. Ye Kai proudly declared himself Lailai's husband. The bridesmaids then demanded red packets, and the groomsmen generously distributed them. The final obstacle was finding the hidden wedding shoes. After a frantic search and some teasing, Ye Kai located the shoes, and Lailai graciously extended her foot for him. During the ceremony, Ye Kai delivered a heartfelt wedding vow to Lailai.
He shared that his past twenty years had been dedicated to personal growth and helping Shao Moli, but he now realized he had been waiting for her all along. He recalled the three questions Lailai once posed: who comes to mind when you're happy or sad, with whom do you feel most at ease, and whose presence with another makes you feel most concerned. He declared that his answer to all three was "you."
Ye Kai explained that Lailai had taught him the true meaning of money, emphasizing that her happiness, joy, and health were paramount. He promised to always prioritize her and spoil her like a princess, assuring her of his unwavering support. He concluded by declaring his love for her. Tearfully, Lailai responded with her own vows.
She recounted a tale of a "little white rabbit" (herself) meeting a "Big Bad Wolf" (Ye Kai) whose sincere love dispelled her fears of marriage and commitment. She bravely told him, "I like you, my Big Bad Wolf." Lailai promised that if the outside world ever left him weary, their home would always be his safe haven. She vowed to stay by his side until their hair turned grey and their teeth fell out.
She ended by declaring, "I love you, Ye Kai." Amidst applause, they exchanged rings and shared a loving kiss. All friends and family then gathered for a group photo to commemorate the joyful occasion. An Yu and Shao Moli were later seen walking together in a scenic area, laughing and reminiscing about their childhood, having found their own happiness.
