Cheng Feng initiated a date, and they shared a meal of BBQ, had a portrait drawn, and walked together.
Cheng Feng then confessed her love, saying she had been too closed off in the past and hurt him, but promised to treat him better to overwrite his past unhappiness with sweet memories. She told Jiang Dian, "Dian, I love you," and gave him a couple's ring. Jiang Dian reciprocated with "Cheng, I love you, too," and promised to one day replace the ring with a wedding ring. They shared a romantic kiss by a musical fountain.
Unknown to them, Chen Huiyun, Jiang Dian's mother, who was in Hua City for a business dinner, nearly spotted them. After their date, Jiang Dian walked Cheng Feng back to her inn, confiding that no one had ever truly cared for him until she came into his life. Later, he received a call from his mother, who revealed she was also in Hua City and asked to meet him at his hotel.
Realizing she was checking up on him, Jiang Dian rushed to the hotel and arranged an alibi with the help of an empathetic front desk clerk. His mother called again while he was with his professor, leading to a heated argument over the phone about his passion for physics. Distraught, Jiang Dian left his professor and hurried to Cheng Feng's inn. He found her waiting outside, explaining that she felt he might need her.
Back in her room, she comforted him and assured him of her unwavering support for his dreams. Their intimacy deepened as they embraced, with Cheng Feng expressing her wish to lie in his arms every day, a reality Jiang Dian promised to create for her. The next morning, Jiang Dian woke to find Cheng Feng gone, with only a note explaining she had an urgent matter and left early.
The inn owner confirmed Cheng Feng had departed in a hurry, constantly on her phone, and taken a taxi to the airport. Jiang Dian's calls to Cheng Feng went unanswered. He then called the Half Moon Book Cafe, where he learned Cheng Feng was back but too busy to talk.
Cheng Feng was, in fact, dealing with the unexpected news that her landlord suddenly wanted to sell the book cafe's building for three million yuan, giving her only ten days to gather the money, despite her efforts to persuade him not to sell previously. Meanwhile, Lian Ruoshen, distraught over Pei Xiaoyun, dramatically declared his intentions from a balcony, prompting his friends, Lu Bie and another, to intervene, fearing he might jump.
Lian Ruoshen denied suicidal thoughts, vowing to achieve success and make Pei Xiaoyun regret her actions. Pei Xiaoyun, overhearing this, became even more annoyed and rebuffed his attempts to reconcile, telling him to let her go as she was too busy to care for his antics. Lian Ruoshen spotted Jiang Dian's mother arriving at the school and quickly texted Jiang Dian a warning. It was too late. Jiang Dian arrived at the school and immediately encountered his mother, Chen Huiyun.
She angrily confronted his physics professor, accusing him of encouraging Jiang Dian to abandon his visa interview for the physics competition. The professor defended the university's policy of respecting student choices and highlighted Jiang Dian's talent and passion for physics. Chen Huiyun then turned on Jiang Dian, accusing him of deception, claiming she only discovered his participation in the competition by checking his flight information. Jiang Dian insisted he hadn't lied, but that she never listened to him.
Their argument continued at home, where Chen Huiyun asserted that as the sole heir of the Jiang family corporation, he must fulfill his responsibilities and could not pursue physics. She declared her intention to reschedule his visa interview and send him abroad. Jiang Dian firmly refused, stating he would never go abroad. Infuriated, his mother threatened to cut off all his financial resources.
Jiang Dian retorted that he hadn't used any of the money she'd given him and dared her to cut him off. Chen Huiyun, overcome with anger, suffered from stomach pain, with only Miss Wen, her secretary, offering comfort and medicine. Jiang Dian, emotionally drained, went to the Half Moon Book Cafe but couldn't find Cheng Feng. He ended up drinking with Lian Ruoshen and Lu Bie, with Lian Ruoshen lamenting Pei Xiaoyun's inability to see his good qualities.
Lu Bie suggested they go to a "bonesetting center" to relax, but Jiang Dian declined, opting to leave. Cheng Feng, meanwhile, was stressed trying to secure the 3 million yuan for the book cafe, checking her bank balance to find just over 800,000 yuan. Lu Bie messaged Cheng Feng, informing her about Jiang Dian's fight with his mother and his low spirits.
Cheng Feng found Jiang Dian, who confronted her for leaving without a word and being uncontactable, expressing his anxiety and fear of losing her, believing their relationship was a fragile dream. Cheng Feng apologized, explaining she hadn't meant to upset him. Jiang Dian confided that his parents no longer cared for him, leaving him feeling like a "homeless kid." Cheng Feng tenderly reassured him, "This is your home." They embraced, and their intimacy deepened.
The next morning, as they lay together, Cheng Feng playfully told Jiang Dian that as long as he didn't let go of her hand, she would always be by his side, and he must be responsible for her. Their tender moment was interrupted when Bao Ling walked in, making a teasing comment about their early morning activities. After Jiang Dian left for school, Bao Ling discussed Lian Ruoshen's upcoming debut song and dance choreography with Cheng Feng.
Pei Xiaoyun then arrived, but upon seeing Bao Ling, turned to leave. Bao Ling followed, apologizing for signing Lian Ruoshen, but Pei Xiaoyun declared she would no longer involve herself in Lian Ruoshen's affairs, having tried her best as both an assistant teacher and a friend, concluding he was "impenetrably thickheaded." Bao Ling defended Lian Ruoshen, arguing he was simply pursuing his passion and that his efforts were, in part, to prove himself to Pei Xiaoyun.
Pei Xiaoyun, however, stated that it was his choice, as long as he didn't regret it. Pressed for time and money, Cheng Feng called Rich to accept the HA endorsement. Rich then called Zhou Yao, excitedly informing him of Cheng Feng's agreement and inviting him to a meeting to finalize cooperation details. Jiang Dian later saw a news report on "Entertainment Hot Events" announcing Cheng Feng and Zhou Yao as the new HA brand ambassadors, emphasizing their "couple-like" image.
Enraged, Jiang Dian rushed to the Half Moon Book Cafe, where he encountered Zhou Yao descending the stairs. Zhou Yao provocatively stated Cheng Feng had invited him upstairs and taunted Jiang Dian about their "couple photo shoot" for HA. Cheng Feng intervened, stopping Jiang Dian from physically assaulting Zhou Yao. She then asked Rich and Zhou Yao to leave, promising to "coax her boyfriend."
Jiang Dian confronted Cheng Feng, furious that she had accepted the endorsement despite knowing Zhou Yao was involved, and urged her to decline it. Cheng Feng maintained it was "just a job" and there was "nothing to avoid," dismissing his feelings. Jiang Dian, heartbroken, expressed his disappointment, believing he held no significance in her heart, and angrily stormed out, reiterating his desire for her to have no contact with Zhou Yao.
