Shi Liansen was home, unwell with a fever. Lin Lu diligently cared for him, making ginger coca soup and applying cooling paste. The previous night, Shi Liansen had insisted on sleeping outside her tent, claiming he needed fresh air, to protect her from the cold due to a broken tent zipper. He later had a nightmare, begging Lin Lu not to leave him, which she reassured him she wouldn't.
Their close proximity led to playful banter, with Lin Lu accusing him of taking advantage of her by kissing her, and Shi Liansen countering that she had pulled him closer, then teasing her for running away after the kiss. Meanwhile, Maggie informed Shi Liansen over the phone that Alan had emailed, intending to shelve their partnership. Alan was also considering a deal with Sally, who had apparently offered better conditions.
Shi Liansen instructed Maggie to contact Alan's assistant to arrange a meeting before Sally could. In a separate meeting, Liang Zhi received confirmation that Alan was very interested in Sally's Knight Series, and he reiterated his goal of preventing Huanzhen from signing a contract with Alan. Liang Zhi also had a heated confrontation with a male colleague or relative, who called him a "bastard" and accused him of usurping a project, to which Liang Zhi responded with defiance.
He then internally reaffirmed his belief that Lin Lu would eventually realize he was "the one for her." Lin Lu later spoke with Liang Zhi, who apologized for the rumors surrounding the Knight Series that had caused trouble for her and Shi Liansen. Lin Lu, however, was still curious about the inspiration behind the series. Liang Zhi then fabricated a story, claiming his inspiration for the Knight Series came from Shen Jing.
He pretended to confess his love to Shen Jing, explaining that he had previously been confused and thought he loved Lin Lu, but realized she was like a sister. He asserted his jealousy was only because she was with Shi Liansen. He then asked Shen Jing for another chance, vowing to protect her like a knight protecting a princess. Though Shen Jing seemed hesitant, Lin Lu, unaware of the deception, was completely convinced and happy for them.
Separately, Lin Lu encountered Alan, an important foreign figure, and helped him retrieve a lost photo of his wife, for which he was extremely grateful. During a business presentation at Huanzhen, Alan observed Lin Lu’s intelligence and potential. He extended an invitation to his party the following night and encouraged her to bring a date, praising her as "cute." Back at the office, Shi Liansen informed Maggie that she would be his partner for Alan’s party, not Lin Lu.
He explained that Lin Lu was his girlfriend, and he did not want to leverage Alan's interest in her to secure the contract. Liang Zhi then deceitfully informed Shen Jing that Alan's party was canceled, blaming the erratic decisions of foreigners. He offered to send her on a shopping trip to Europe, claiming company commitments prevented him from joining her. Shen Jing expressed disappointment, mentioning that Lin Lu had also planned to attend and they wanted to take pictures together.
Despite her sadness, Shen Jing believed him. However, Liang Zhi secretly called Lin Lu, asking her to be his partner for what he claimed was a "different", private business partner's party, as Shen Jing was "unavailable." Lin Lu initially hesitated, concerned about being Huanzhen's spokesperson and the potential for new rumors, especially if Shi Liansen would also be there.
Liang Zhi pleaded with her, emphasizing the importance of the cooperation to his new role at Sally, and reassured her there would be no reporters, thus no harm to Huanzhen. Lin Lu reluctantly agreed. At Alan's party, Shi Liansen attended with Maggie as his dance partner, upholding his earlier decision not to involve Lin Lu in the business competition. Alan, expecting Lin Lu to be with Shi Liansen, expressed disappointment when Shi Liansen stated she wouldn't be attending.
Shortly after, Lin Lu arrived with Liang Zhi, immediately realizing that it was the same party he had told Shen Jing was canceled. She panicked, but Liang Zhi urged her to stay, claiming his job was on the line. Alan welcomed Lin Lu warmly and invited her to dance, or to choose any guest as her partner. Lin Lu, uncomfortable, attempted to decline and leave. Liang Zhi then intervened, asserting his right as her partner for the first dance.
However, Shi Liansen cut in, asking Lin Lu for a dance, which she accepted. Alan then commented that he would support her choice. As Lin Lu danced with Shi Liansen, Fang Qiao (Qiaoqiao) later intervened, taking over the dance with Lin Lu.
Other guests at the party gossiped, questioning Lin Lu's presence with Liang Zhi, Sally's Vice President, especially given the past rumors that the Knight Series was created for her, and called her "bold" for seemingly "cheating" on Shi Liansen in public. Unbeknownst to Liang Zhi, Mr. Li (Li Chaojiang) had brought Shen Jing to the party, expecting a dramatic scene. Shen Jing, witnessing Liang Zhi with Lin Lu, erupted in anger.
She confronted Liang Zhi, accusing him of lying about the party's cancellation, and furiously confronted Lin Lu, her "best friend," for "dating" her "boyfriend." Fang Qiao also berated Shi Liansen for not intervening, calling him childish and unreliable for letting Lin Lu choose a dance partner in public. Shi Liansen responded to Fang Qiao that Lin Lu needed to face this problem herself.
