Despite the contractual nature of their relationship, Lin Lu felt frustrated by his perceived coldness and the complexities of their arrangement, ultimately leading her to seek an end to their temporary bond. Meanwhile, Fang Qiao had disappeared, leaving Yan Zichen heartbroken. He found Shi Liansen for a drinking session, lamenting his breakup with Fang Qiao and observing Shi Liansen's seemingly blossoming relationship with Lin Lu.

The resulting news caused a rift between Lin Lu and Shen Jing.
