The Wolf Princess Episode 10 Recap
> The Wolf Princess Recap
Ling Long was applying medicine to Yan Qing when she accidentally touched his heart, awakening Langyin. Langyin immediately emerged, mocking Ling Long and Yan Qing and referencing Ling Long's previous glimpse of Yan Qing bathing in the river. Their argument was interrupted when the Divine Messenger arrived, noticing that Yan Qing and Ling Long were not sharing a bed.
Thinking quickly, Ling Long accused Yan Qing of having another lover, a "little vixen," which was why she wouldn't sleep with him. The Divine Messenger, along with other villagers, tried to mediate, urging Yan Qing to apologize and appease Ling Long. Yan Qing reluctantly apologized, and the Divine Messenger departed, reminding them that disputes could displease the Mountain God. After the Divine Messenger left, Yan Qing decided to have a serious talk with Langyin.
He tied Ling Long to a pillar to ensure Langyin's full attention. Yan Qing proposed a deal: if Langyin would cease causing trouble and assist Ling Long in fights when necessary, Yan Qing would help her return to Southern Chu to fulfill his mission. Langyin demanded more, wanting Yan Qing to accompany him to complete the mission. Yan Qing agreed, sealing the pact.
They established a secret code for Langyin to emerge: Ling Long would call him "Crazy girl," to which Langyin retorted he would call her "Naughty girl." To maintain their guise as a couple, Yan Qing moved the bedding onto the bed, but Ling Long was adamant about keeping their distance. She placed three bowls of water down the middle of the bed, declaring them a boundary and threatening Yan Qing with severe consequences if even a single drop spilled.
However, it was Ling Long who tossed and turned throughout the night, repeatedly coming close to spilling the water. Yan Qing ended up sitting on the edge of the bed all night, unable to sleep. The next morning, both Yan Qing and Ling Long had developed red spots from the herb they applied. They went to report this good news to the Divine Messenger, who praised their devotion and advised them to eat and rest well.
A woman was secretly observing them. Later, while Yan Qing and Ling Long were collecting herbs, Yan Qing noticed someone following them. He apprehended the person, who turned out to be Xiuniang, Alang's childhood sweetheart who had been brought to the Holy Land in his place. She revealed that she had made her red spots fade by plugging her nose with cotton—a trick Alang had taught her to ward off miasma.
She also explained that she had befriended the giant wolf by feeding it meat buns daily. Xiuniang recounted the tragic fate of Xiaoju, her former roommate, who entered the mountain cave. She later found Xiaoju's blood-stained clothes floating in the stream connected to the cave, leading her to believe Xiaoju had been killed. Yan Qing explained that exposing the Mountain God would summon an army for their rescue, and Xiuniang eagerly offered her help.
Together, they devised a plan: Yan Qing and Ling Long would enter the cave to draw out the Mountain God, after which Ling Long would send a signal through the waterway. Xiuniang, upon seeing the signal, would set the village on fire, creating a diversion for the villagers to escape and meet their waiting allies. To gather everyone without arousing suspicion, Yan Qing proposed that he and Ling Long get married, and Ling Long reluctantly agreed.
They convinced the Divine Messenger that a wedding would inspire other villagers to serve the Mountain God wholeheartedly. During the preparations for the bridal chamber, Ling Long acted out her role, expressing sadness that her parents were not present for her wedding. This stirred similar feelings among the other young women, who shared their own longing for their families.
Yan Qing seized the opportunity to request fireworks for Ling Long as a surprise, ostensibly using his personal savings, and also took the chance to collect more herbs under the guise of decorating the bridal chamber. On their wedding day, Yan Qing and Ling Long performed the traditional bows. Yan Qing used his speech to express gratitude to the Mountain God for their happiness while subtly lamenting their inability to care for their distant families.
This further resonated with the villagers, though the Divine Messenger quickly interjected to redirect their focus back to praising the Mountain God. During the subsequent feast, Yan Qing made sure to get the Divine Messenger drunk. He then set off the fireworks, fulfilling his promise to Ling Long and secretly firing a white signal flare, which was spotted by their allies, indicating it was time to prepare for action.
Later that night, having re-applied the herbs to show renewed red spots, Yan Qing and Ling Long insisted on being taken to meet the Mountain God. The Divine Messenger, still drunk, agreed. Before the meeting, they were led to a room for a ritual bath and change of clothes. This presented a problem, as they had hidden weapons and medicinal powders on their bodies.
As they delayed, arousing the Divine Messenger's suspicion, Ling Long desperately pushed Yan Qing into the bathtub, intending to feign intimacy as an excuse. However, she hesitated. At that critical moment, Langyin took over, emerging and passionately kissing Yan Qing, which convinced the Divine Messenger that their delay was due to newlywed passion. As they were escorted to the Mountain God, Ling Long discreetly scattered a powder and dropped pieces of her red wedding dress into the stream.
Outside, Xiuniang saw the signal and promptly set the village ablaze. Amidst the chaos, she led the villagers in an escape attempt. However, one of the Divine Messengers was alerted, and Xiuniang's group was soon surrounded. Inside the cave, the "Mountain God" was revealed to be Mi Ya. Mi Ya began a ritual using the mystic tricks of Southern Chu, enchanting the holy children and having their wrists cut to collect their blood in a transparent crystal. Yan Qing hurled a dart, injuring Mi Ya and breaking the enchantment. The villagers scattered, and Mi Ya, recognizing Yan Qing and Ling Long, engaged them in a fierce battle.
