> The Wolf Princess Recap

Eighteen years ago, the ancient Wolf Tribe, nestled in the mountains between Southern Chu and Western Turk, suffered an internal conflict that led to the death of their Wolf King and the dispersal of the tribe. The secret of the Wolf Tribe, rumored to grant eternal life and immense power, seemed to have faded from memory. Years later, border general Yan Qing assimilated the remaining scattered Wolf Tribe members into his Wolf Guards, leading them to uphold justice.

Recently, Yan Qing led his Wolf Guards to a remote mountain cabin, where they swiftly eliminated a group of bandits. Despite his numerous military achievements, Yan Qing remained a minor official, content with his freedom. However, a family letter summoned him home, stirring old resentment towards his long-absent father. In the bustling city, a veiled woman, Ling Long, narrowly escaped injury when a sack fell from the sky, saved by Yan Qing.

Her possession of numerous banknotes raised Yan Qing's suspicion, but Ling Long cleverly deflected his attention by fabricating a story about a local official's attempt to abduct women. While Yan Qing investigated the official's mansion, Ling Long drugged the guards and fled to a secluded forest. There, she met a mysterious hooded man, delivering promised banknotes. From him, she learned of her mother's grave illness, which could only be cured by obtaining "fatsia".

Back at the Yan Manor, family tensions simmered. Yan Qing’s elder brother, Yanjue, coveted the family inheritance, seeing Yan Qing as his main rival, especially since Yan Qing was favored by Yourou and had been recalled for a potential marriage alliance. Yanjue feigned brotherly affection upon Yan Qing's return, then used a jade pendant belonging to Yan Qing’s late birth mother to lure him to the Southern Chu Holy Land, where he planned to ensnare him with "Masculinity incense".

At the Holy Land, Ling Long was the only female guest residing in the temple. While preparing to bathe, she sensed Yan Qing's presence and discreetly tried to leave, but Yan Qing saw through her pretense and asserted control over her. Yan Qing was impressed by her calm and cunning demeanor, a quality she had already displayed in their previous encounter.

As they engaged in a tense conversation, the "Masculinity incense" that Yanjue had planted began to take effect on Yan Qing. As it clouded his mind, Ling Long used silver needles to restore his consciousness, causing him a moment of pain. The incident instantly made Yan Qing realize Yanjue's malicious scheme, as the "Masculinity incense" only affected men. When commotion arose outside, Ling Long quickly devised a diversion.

She had her maid and Bro Tong pretend to be caught in a compromising situation. As Zhang's third son and his patrol burst into the room, they found the maid and Bro Tong. Ling Long, feigning anger, accused Bro Tong of infidelity, pushing him to apologize. Yan Qing, playing along, also tried to de-escalate the situation. Satisfied that they had caught a couple in the act and that the matter was resolved, the patrol eventually left.

Shortly after, Ling Long arranged for Zhang's third son to take Bro Tong away for military punishment, but Yan Qing intervened, leading his Wolf Guards to beat Zhang's third son and his men, which infuriated his father. The following day, Ling Long visited the Yan Manor to treat Yan Qing's father, the Duke, adding "fatsia" to his prescription.

While chatting with his fourth brother Yan Yu, Yan Qing learned Ling Long was a Southern Chu Princess who had been raised in the Cold Place and sent to Western Turk as a hostage after Southern Chu's defeat. Ling Long's birth was accompanied by a "bane" omen, marking her with a reputation for bringing misfortune to her family and being solitary. Consequently, she and her mother were confined to the Cold Place.

Yan Qing, observing from the rafters, saw her calmly endure Yourou's condescending remarks and respond with apparent humility, while cleverly manipulating Yourou's vanity to sell her cheap beauty products. This, along with her strategic use of the Duke's treatment to acquire the much-needed "fatsia", showcased her profound intelligence. Upon returning to his quarters, Yan Qing was quickly summoned by Yanjue to face their father's wrath in the main hall.

A royal tribute had been stolen from under the Yan family's nose, and their father gave Yanjue seven days to recover it. Yanjue, with feigned righteousness, cunningly shifted the heavy responsibility onto Yan Qing. However, Yan Qing, using the imprints of cart tracks, deduced that the tribute was hidden in a nightcart. He confidently led his Wolf Guards to a newly opened steamed bun shop, certain it was the hiding place. Just as they prepared to raid the shop, Yanjue arrived with his own contingent of men, brazenly attempting to claim credit for the impending recovery of the tribute.
