Gao Tangbing pulled back a window curtain, stealthily moved to a hidden spot outside, and aimed a crossbow at Li Miao, who lay slumped on a table. The crossbow bolt struck Li Miao directly in the head. Gao Tangbing then declared, "Once frozen, you’ll be hit for sure. I am Zhulong. Surprise, surprise!" Earlier, a guard had instructed others not to disturb Clerk Li, who was said to be pondering how to suppress bandits.

Following the assassination, a report quickly reached General Hu Zhong, stating that Siwencao Intelligence's Clerk Li had been killed by a Wuxian Sect assassin in the camp, a revelation that shocked Hu Zhong. Meanwhile, Huang Yu led the remaining Wuxian Sect members in an escape towards Qingfeng Ridge. His subordinate expressed gratitude for Huang Yu's foresight in preparing secret passages, though regretting the destruction of their base camp.

Huang Yu remained confident, asserting that as a Wei's operative deep within Shu, he would not be abandoned, and that Wei would never give up on them. He explained that Wuxian Sect had been well-prepared for Shu's suppression, but Zhulong's intelligence had arrived at the wrong time, making their hasty escape appear somewhat disorganized. Another bamboo slip, a message from Zhulong, was brought to him. Huang Yu carefully took it and retreated to his room alone.

Chen Gong, disguised as a Chancellor of Tianshui Military Intelligence, was advised by Huang Yu to get some good rest before a dangerous mission three days later. Inside his room, Huang Yu took out a book and began decoding the message using a secret cipher. Di Yue secretly observed him from outside the window, hoping to discover the decoding method. After Huang Yu left, she immediately entered the room to look for the secret message.

Her eagerness to find the code made her miss the trap Huang Yu had laid. Huang Yu returned, confronting her and asking if she wanted to know what the secret letter said. He then presented the decoded message, which revealed that the Shu spy within Wuxian Sect's senior management was a woman. Di Yue, caught red-handed, was bound and tortured. Chen Gong, upon learning of Di Yue's capture, swiftly rose and went to the interrogation.

He tried to stop Huang Yu from beating her, suggesting a "carrot-and-stick approach" would be more effective for interrogation. Turning to Di Yue, Chen Gong silently mouthed his intention to save her. Realizing that Zhulong had not yet been caught and that Chen Gong's identity must remain secret, Di Yue suddenly yelled at Chen Gong, calling him a shameless Wei spy and daring him to kill her.

She deliberately exposed her identity as a Shu spy to prevent Chen Gong from taking further action and risking exposure. Enraged that the woman he cared for was a Shu spy, Huang Yu violently forced her to ingest an elixir, a secret Wuxian Sect drug that, he explained, would make one feel like a fairy, experiencing euphoria before instantly becoming limp and unable to resist.

He elaborated that as the drug's effects peaked, the pain during interrogation would become unbearable under a carrot-and-stick approach, eventually forcing her to reveal the truth. Chen Gong praised Huang Yu's ruthless methods, but inwardly, he was filled with grief and fury, knowing the night would be agonizing for both him and Di Yue. Li Yan presided over a solemn ceremony for Li Miao. Feng Ying stood by Xun Xu and discussed the aftermath of the Wuxian Sect attack.

Feng Ying noted that despite destroying the Wuxian Sect's lair, there were no substantial gains, and no key figures were captured. He then raised the suspicious fire at the Temple of God of Mountains before the night attack, implicitly asking if Xun Xu was responsible. Feng Ying surmised that Xun Xu had warned Wuxian Sect due to an unrevealed key operative, implying that Baidi was not dead but had infiltrated the sect.

Xun Xu denied sending any messages and claimed Feng Ying's deductions were merely a "story." Feng Ying acknowledged that he might be overthinking, but also implied Xun Xu's agreement to Li Miao's fate showed a consideration for the larger picture. Feng Ying, now officially reinstated as the head of Siwencao Intelligence, thanked Xun Xu for saving his life, though Xun Xu dismissed it as merely doing his duty.

Feng Ying then assigned Xun Xu the task of leading the internal investigation into the Temple of God of Mountains fire. Meanwhile, Yin Ji, fearing Feng Ying's return, confessed to Gao Tangbing that he had killed Ma Sheng under Li Miao's orders and begged for a way out. Gao Tangbing, now revealed as Zhulong, advised Yin Ji to meet Feng Ying directly and confess everything, emphasizing Feng Ying's deep value for Siwencao Intelligence as the foundation of his life.

Gao Tangbing also pointed out Yin Ji's irreplaceable position in the Operations Department, which handles all foreign intelligence, spy training, and other critical matters. He reasoned that an honest confession, leaving nothing out, would demonstrate Yin Ji's sincerity and offer a chance for survival.

Separately, Xun Xu informed Pei Xu about the Qingping Plan and his impending trip to Mount Dingjun to establish an escape route for Baidi (Chen Gong) by opening a back door in the head office of the Military Technology Department. Gao Tangbing then opportunistically requested to take over Yin Ji's upcoming duty of inspecting military provisions at Mount Dingjun, using the excuse of wanting to visit his old friend Cheng Fan, who served General Ma Dai.

This would allow Gao Tangbing to retrieve the crossbow blueprints. Huang Yu celebrated Wuxian Sect's successful breakthrough against the Shu Army, though he noted minor losses. He instructed Chen Gong about the Qingping Plan: Chen Gong was to lead an elite team into the head office of the Military Technology Department, using the daily password sent by Zhulong. Huang Yu would wait in the East Valley of Mount Dingjun for Chen Gong's triumphant return.

In case of unforeseen circumstances preventing their meeting, Chen Gong was to deliver the blueprints to the big camphor tree at Gujian Xikou by 9:45 AM the next day, where Zhulong would personally retrieve them. Chen Gong questioned how Zhulong would escape Shu territory with the blueprints if the entire mountain was surrounded by the Shu Army. Huang Yu admitted he didn't know, simply assuming Zhulong had a resourceful plan.

He then told Chen Gong he would summon him at ten o'clock that night to witness Di Yue's excruciating suffering under the elixir's influence. Despite his inner turmoil, Chen Gong masked his emotions and agreed, knowing that the night would be a long and torturous one for Di Yue and himself.
