Wu Julan was enraged upon discovering that his grandmother, Olivette, had orchestrated Mi Xue'er's presence with the intention of acquiring the spiritual pearl from Shen Luo. He unleashed a furious roar that shattered all the glass in the room. Olivette immediately knelt, offering to accept punishment, but Wu Julan adamantly refused to take Shen Luo's spiritual pearl, declaring that doing so would make his life worse than death.
He sternly warned them against harming Shen Luo in the future, threatening severe double punishment if they disobeyed. Afterward, Mi Xue'er and Wu Jingjing escorted Wu Julan home. Seeing Shen Luo calmly preparing breakfast as usual reassured Wu Julan. He asked Shen Luo to sit beside him, an action that left her confused, unaware of the tumultuous events that had just transpired.
Mi Xue'er later apologized to Shen Luo, confessing that she had feigned illness due to her admiration for Wu Julan. She expressed gratitude to Shen Luo, stating that their love had made her believe in the existence of an all-surpassing love. Meanwhile, Wu Jingjing confronted Olivette, faulting her for not disclosing her plans beforehand. Olivette mused that love is the most potent form of witchcraft, capable of captivating and disorienting individuals, causing them to lose themselves.
Olivette then received news that the Black Magic Knife had been stolen. Wu Jingjing immediately suspected An Zuo. Olivette believed An Zuo still had operatives on the island, a suspicion Wu Jingjing had held since Wu Julan's attack at the birthday party. Wu Jingjing's inquiries led her to learn that a neighbor had seen Zhou Buwen on the back mountain the previous evening, coincidentally where Wu Julan had been ambushed.
When confronted, Zhou Buwen attempted to defend himself, but Zhou Buyan arrived and provided an alibi, claiming they had been on a date. She then led Zhou Buwen away, secretly telling him she would only help him this one time. Wu Jingjing continued her search on the back mountain and discovered a blowpipe, which she promptly took home as a potential piece of evidence. With Shen Luo's diligent care, Wu Julan's condition slowly improved.
One day, as they walked along the beach, Shen Luo shared her greatest dream: to travel the world and savor cuisines from every corner of the globe. Wu Julan then surprised her by announcing that he would take her to New York the very next day. It turned out Olivette had invited Wu Julan to perform a sashimi feast in the United States, with Shen Luo acting as his agent.
However, Olivette only provided Shen Luo's plane ticket, as Wu Julan intended to travel by sea. Concurrently, Wu Jingjing informed Jiang Yisheng of her imminent return to New York, prompting Jiang Yisheng to decide he couldn't remain idle and would also go to America. Shen Luo meticulously packed numerous items, preparing for any eventuality, when Jiang Yisheng arrived to inform her that he too had purchased a ticket to the United States.
Upon their arrival in New York, Shen Luo and Jiang Yisheng were captivated by the city's grandeur and vibrancy. Wu Jingjing had arranged luxurious accommodations for them in advance. Shen Luo, overwhelmed by the opulence, inquired about who was footing the bill. Wu Jingjing simply stated it was "the boss," leading Shen Luo to wonder about this mysterious individual who would expend so much effort and money merely for Wu Julan's sashimi feast performance.
In her ongoing investigation into Wu Julan's assailant, Wu Jingjing extracted fingerprints from the blowpipe she found and compared them to everyone around her, but found no match. Unknown to her, An Zuo had already intercepted Zhou Buwen's fingerprint report from a postman. Jiang Yisheng, wanting a private date with Wu Jingjing, sent Shen Luo away. As Shen Luo walked alone by the ocean, Wu Julan appeared behind her. Delighted, she praised his swimming speed.
Wu Julan then seriously declined Wu Jingjing's planned welcome dinner, stating his desire to spend time alone with Shen Luo, a cherished dream for Shen Luo. Later, Shen Luo found herself unable to sleep and repeatedly asked Wu Julan to tell her stories.
She then flirtatiously hinted at wanting to see his "merman lines" and tried to entice him to sleep with her, but Wu Julan opted for the guest room, much to Shen Luo's frustration, who muttered angrily, calling him a "blockhead." The following day, Wu Julan took Shen Luo sightseeing, making her very happy. During their outing, Wu Julan seized the opportunity to confess his love, telling Shen Luo, "I love you."
Soon after, he received a phone call announcing a grand dinner that evening and arranged for a stylist for Shen Luo, who was transformed into an angelic figure for the event. At the dinner, Zhou Buwen and Zhou Buyan also attended. Zhou Buwen, introducing himself as a global vice president, publicly ridiculed Wu Julan as merely a chef fit only for an apron. Wu Julan dismissed his words with disdain, but Shen Luo was visibly upset. Just then, Olivette made her entrance, surrounded by a throng of people.
