Shen Luo found herself in a perilous situation, screaming for help as she struggled in the water. Zhou Buwen frantically searched for "Xiao Luo," calling her name. He later confronted "Da Tou" (Zhu Yiyang), who admitted that Zhou Buyan, Zhou Buwen's sister, had wanted to teach Shen Luo a lesson. Fearing for Shen Luo's life, Zhou Buwen rushed to find her. Meanwhile, Wu Julan also searched for Shen Luo, who was on the verge of drowning.

She urged him to leave, not wanting to be a burden, but Wu Julan told her to take deep breaths, reassuring her that if she wanted to see her grandfather's old house and her pet sheep, she must live. He then rescued her from the sea. After the ordeal, Shen Luo recovered, but Wu Julan's condition worsened due to his efforts to save her.

Jiang Yisheng suggested that Wu Julan had sacrificed himself for her and that Shen Luo should agree to any request. Shen Luo was distraught, crying and hitting Jiang Yisheng, accusing him of tricking her. She noticed Wu Julan's back was cold and hard, a detail Jiang Yisheng dismissed, assuring her that Wu Julan was fine.

Jiang Yisheng light-heartedly teased Shen Luo about her lack of hesitation in attending to Wu Julan, attributing it to their shared life-or-death experience and Wu Julan's true love for her, urging her to take responsibility. Shen Luo, realizing she had forgotten something on the stove, excused herself. Soon after, "Da Tou" (Zhu Yiyang) arrived and apologized to Shen Luo for causing her fright.

Shen Luo reassured him that she understood Zhou Buyan's actions were not meant to truly harm her and that she never intended to pursue the matter further. Shen Luo advised "Da Tou" to communicate with Zhou Buyan, suggesting that Zhou Buyan's actions stemmed from her deep affection for him. She also hinted that the person who truly deserved his care had always been by his side.

Jiang Yisheng later advised Wu Julan on how to pursue Shen Luo, praising his "hero saving the maiden" act and observing Shen Luo's concern for him. He explained that women often express the opposite of what they truly desire, meaning "no" often implies "yes." Meanwhile, Zhou Buwen disciplined his sister, Zhou Buyan, for her reckless actions against Shen Luo, stating her actions were illegal. "

Da Tou" (Zhu Yiyang) took the blame for Zhou Buyan's actions, leading to Zhou Buwen hitting him instead. Zhou Buyan intervened, stopping her brother. Later, Zhou Buyan expressed her unwavering feelings for Zhou Buwen, acknowledging his care for Shen Luo but asserting her confidence that she was better than Shen Luo and that he would eventually reciprocate her feelings. Jiang Yisheng confronted An Zuo, accusing him of making moves on Wu Jingjing.

He declared himself Wu Jingjing's boyfriend and warned An Zuo to stop bothering her, claiming Wu Jingjing now preferred "smart and good personality" guys like him. An Zuo, however, remained unfazed, stating he liked challenges and found them more interesting the harder they were. An Zuo then provocatively asked what Jiang Yisheng would do for him to give up on Wu Jingjing. Later, Wu Jingjing found a very drunk An Zuo.

She took him back, disregarding the mocking comments from others who implied An Zuo was "trash." Wu Jingjing retorted that in her heart, they were even worse than trash. Shen Luo continued to harbor suspicions about Wu Julan's true nature, recalling how Zhou Buwen had insinuated he was not human. She found scales Wu Julan had left behind, but people at the market didn't recognize them. Jiang Yisheng laughed at her, dismissing her concerns as delusion.

To further investigate, Shen Luo questioned Wu Jingjing about Wu Julan's childhood, but Wu Jingjing, prepared for such an inquiry, presented childhood photos of them together, which temporarily dispelled Shen Luo's suspicions. Following Jiang Yisheng's advice, Shen Luo researched various romantic lines. Under a bright moon, she took Wu Julan to the seaside and confessed her feelings, declaring her desire to be his girlfriend regardless of his response.

Wu Julan, knowing he loved Shen Luo but also that their differences made a relationship impossible and that she only lived because of his spiritual pearl, revealed his true identity. He explained that she only liked him because she didn't know who he really was. He then leaped into the sea and transformed into his merman form, terrifying Shen Luo. When she saw his face covered in scales, she realized the 'monster' was Wu Julan.

He then swam away, hoping she would give up on him so he could leave peacefully. Wu Jingjing later blamed Wu Julan for revealing the truth, understanding that he valued Shen Luo's feelings more than his own life. The shock of Wu Julan's transformation left Shen Luo terrified and confused. As she walked home, she cried out his name, feeling her love story had turned into a horror film.

She struggled to reconcile her feelings, seeing images of fish everywhere, even thinking market salted fish were staring at her. She later confronted Jiang Yisheng, telling him Wu Julan said he was a fish. Jiang Yisheng dismissed this as Wu Julan's excuse to reject her and believed Shen Luo was delusional, suggesting she needed a full body checkup. Jiang Yisheng later called Wu Jingjing, exuberantly telling her that Shen Luo was "budding" and falling for Wu Julan.

He complained that Wu Julan was "insensitive" despite Shen Luo pursuing him, but their conversation was cut short by a hospital crisis involving stolen patient data. Shen Luo eventually learned the truth about Wu Julan being a merman from Zhou Buwen and, regardless of his identity, still wished to be his friend. She warned Zhou Buwen not to reveal Wu Julan's secret to anyone else.

Jiang Yisheng attempted to confront Wu Julan about Shen Luo's emotional distress, but Wu Julan spotted An Zuo and immediately pursued him. An Zuo, sensing he was being followed, soon found Wu Julan before him. They engaged in a fierce battle, both sustaining injuries. An Zuo, realizing he was outmatched, summoned black bats to trap Wu Julan, allowing Wu Jingjing to intervene and rescue him. Wu Jingjing then took the injured An Zuo away from the island.

As she watched him depart, she shed tears, knowing that their paths diverged the moment he chose to join the Black Witches. Back at home, Shen Luo was talking to a salted fish when Wu Julan unexpectedly returned, severely wounded. Distraught, Shen Luo frantically pedaled a tricycle, rushing him to the hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, she saw Wu Jingjing, who was also there to treat Wu Julan.

Wu Jingjing informed Shen Luo that she was a witch, protector of the merfolk. As she began to reveal that the spiritual pearl within Shen Luo could save Wu Julan, he intervened and stopped her. After Wu Jingjing left, Shen Luo found Wu Julan's body cold. She used her own body to warm him, vowing to stay with him forever, regardless of his true nature. Wu Julan, though drifting in and out of consciousness, heard her words.

The next day, Shen Luo noticed scales reappearing on Wu Julan's body, fearing it was a final sign before death. She urgently sought Wu Jingjing, but by the time Wu Jingjing arrived, Wu Julan had returned to normal. When Shen Luo found his bed empty, she panicked, believing he had died, and burst into tears. After Wu Jingjing's rejection, Jiang Yisheng was deeply disheartened, appearing distraught and absent-minded. He nearly walked into the path of a car, a sight that moved Wu Jingjing, who watched from a distance, with a pang of pity.
