Luo Bin remained determined to uncover the individual behind Gu Nan, convinced there was an accomplice planning revenge or conspiracy. He had clearly heard Gu Nan speaking on the phone, detailing plans to another person, and knew that Gu Nan was always aware of his and He Chufeng’s movements. Luo Bin vowed to find this person to protect He Chufeng and Sui Yi. He returned to the shipyard where Gu Nan had previously worked, searching for clues.

He Chufeng then arrived and, understanding Luo Bin's intent, insisted that there was no other person. He explained that it was always just Gu Nan acting alone, having developed a split personality during his time in prison. He Chufeng played a recording from Gu Nan’s phone, revealing Gu Nan conversing with himself.

Gu Nan’s obsession, fueled by his injury in prison that prevented him from picking locks again, led him to seek He Chufeng and, subsequently, Luo Bin and Sui Yi, to destroy He Chufeng. Overwhelmed, He Chufeng expressed deep self-reproach, feeling responsible for the misfortunes that befell Luo Bin and Sui Yi, especially after they had given him a chance at a new life. Luo Bin, however, reassured him, saying, "You did nothing wrong. Don't blame yourself."

He told He Chufeng, "You're a good friend. That's what I thought since high school. No matter what happens in the future, don't blame yourself and don't feel lonely." When He Chufeng considered pretending to know nothing, Luo Bin firmly stated, "True is true. Fake is fake." Luo Bin then affirmed their bond, declaring, "I'll always be your best partner," and "You are my best friend forever."

Later, Luo Bin visited Fang Qi at her home, bringing information about her motorcycle accident. He revealed that Cheng Wen had arranged for his men to follow her after an auction and orchestrate her injury, intending to play the hero and marry her to gain access to her family's art transportation routes. Fang Qi realized how close she had come to marrying someone she didn't love and living a life she despised, grateful to Luo Bin for intervening.

Luo Bin apologized for not having spent enough time with her recently, to which Fang Qi affectionately replied, "It's enough that I know you love me." Luo Bin then confessed, "I love you so much," and expressed a bittersweet hope: "If one day, you meet someone whom you like more, I hope you are happy from the bottom of your heart."

Luo Bin then drove to a spot where he could see his home from a distance and called his mother. She excitedly told him about a fantastic house she and Uncle Lu had found for him, perfectly located in the city center with excellent schools nearby. Luo Bin's voice cracked with emotion as he told her he wouldn't need a house for now. He tearfully confessed, "Mom, I've always loved you."

His mother, unaware of his plans, reminded him that his birthday was next month and suggested they celebrate together. Luo Bin, barely holding back his emotions, explained that he had somewhere to go and wouldn't be able to celebrate with her this year. Soon after, Luo Bin walked into a police station and surrendered. The court, acknowledging his self-surrender, sentenced him to six years in prison for negligent homicide.

Sui Yi, still unable to speak, used her phone to type messages to He Chufeng. Noticing his weight loss, she insisted, "Eat well. You've lost weight. You won't look good if you keep losing weight." He Chufeng promised to eat and offered to get her food. Sui Yi then typed, "Chufeng, I'm a little tired. I want to leave for a while. We're not breaking up. I just want to leave for a while."

He Chufeng, with tears in his eyes, offered to close the lock shop and go wherever she went, but Sui Yi silently conveyed that being by his side would hold him back, as she wanted to be alone for a while. Sui Yi then moved to Chen Xiaoyuan's house. Alone in the vintage shop, He Chufeng was overcome with despair, feeling he had lost everyone.

He packed his bags, believing their lives would have been better if he had remained alone from the start. As he prepared to leave, Granny Mi stopped him, saying that if he left, they would experience true loneliness when Luo Bin and Sui Yi returned to an empty shop. He Chufeng paused, his gaze lingering on the shop filled with their cherished memories. Tears streamed down his face, yet he smiled.

He decided to stay, vowing to wait for them, no matter how long it took—one year, two years, or even fifteen years. He knew he had to remain there so they could find him when they returned. He Chufeng reflected on his good friend and the girl he loved, acknowledging his own awkwardness and how they had patiently stayed with him, healed him, loved him, and cherished him.

He affirmed that despite life's injustices, he would never give up the hope they had instilled in him, believing they would definitely return and they would meet again. Six months later, as summer's heat began to settle, He Chufeng continued to meticulously care for the vintage shop alone, keeping it spotless, demonstrating that he was living well.

He set up a Christmas tree, fulfilling a past wish to celebrate Christmas in summer, and bought a four-serving strawberry cake from a bakery. Upon returning home, he found the front door ajar. Sui Yi stood in the yard, cheerfully waving a key and saying, "Luckily, I have the key you gave me." Six years later, He Chufeng, Sui Yi, and Fang Qi were gathered at the vintage shop, awaiting Luo Bin's return. The familiar chime of the bell announced his arrival. Luo Bin stood in the sunlight, a warm smile gracing his face, as the lonely beasts were finally reunited.
