After the family finished their mahjong game, Liu Qing was watching TV when his grandmother sat down next to him. A news report about Maoyuan Heavy Industries selling its home appliance department began to play, featuring an interview with Yang Zhentian, who appeared arrogant. Seeing this, Grandma became visibly anxious, prompting Mu Wanqing to quickly turn off the TV.
She explained that the sale was part of her strategic plan and assured her grandmother that she would never collaborate with Zhentian, as their reputation was poor and she was close to finalizing a deal with Risheng. Grandma nodded, recalling how Yang Zhentian had resorted to many underhanded tactics in his previous attempts to acquire Maoyuan.
Liu Qing noticed a plaster on Grandma’s body and later saw Wang Ma bringing her medicine, which made him suspect her health was not as good as she claimed. His suspicions were correct; Grandma was secretly undergoing chemotherapy. An individual posing as a repairman entered the R&D department and swapped a data hard drive. Fortunately, Yu Manshan quickly realized what happened and chased after the thief.
As the thief was about to escape the parking lot, Liu Qing, hearing the commotion, intervened and tackled the thief, recovering the hard drive. Witnessing Liu Qing's quick actions, Yu Manshan became increasingly convinced that he was the one who had saved her on a previous occasion. In recognition of Liu Qing's efforts in recovering the company's lost data, he was promoted to deputy head of security, specifically assigned to the R&D department.
When Mu Wanqing learned of the promotion from Li Na, she signed off on it, albeit reluctantly. Liu Qing later approached Mu Wanqing playfully, asking if she was worried about him, before reminding her he was now busy with his new role and that tomorrow was Saturday. Meanwhile, Lei Shuo had finished renovating the martial arts club, restoring all the damaged items and even customizing special sandbags for Owner Fu.
Owner Fu, surprised by the extensive work, tried to settle matters quickly, but Lei Shuo expressed a desire to learn from her, which she agreed to discuss once the club reopened. That evening, Li Na met with sister Mumu for drinks. After Li Na became intoxicated, sister Mumu covertly copied all the data from her phone. During the weekend, Liu Qing and Mu Wanqing visited Mu Jianjun's home.
Grandma, trying to conceal her illness from Mu Wanqing, forced herself to stay in the living room despite feeling unwell. Liu Qing noticed her discomfort and urged her to rest upstairs when Mu Wanqing went to answer the door for Fu Junidie. As Liu Qing helped Grandma up the stairs, she almost collapsed, feeling feverish and weak. Mu Wanqing and Fu Junidie witnessed this and mistakenly thought Liu Qing was not supporting her properly.
They rushed to help Grandma to the second floor and called Doc Wang. Following Grandma's instructions, Doc Wang reported that she had merely sprained her back. However, Mu Wanqing, noticing Grandma’s fever and sweat, insisted on taking her to the hospital for a thorough check-up. Knowing Grandma wanted to keep her condition a secret, Liu Qing tried to divert Mu Wanqing, suggesting the room might have been too warm and that a hospital visit would be inconvenient.
Mu Wanqing misconstrued this as Liu Qing fearing responsibility and not caring enough for Grandma. Feeling wronged, Liu Qing remained silent while Grandma intervened to calm Mu Wanqing, putting an end to the discussion. After Mu Wanqing and Fu Junidie left, Grandma called Liu Qing for a private conversation.
She acknowledged that he had detected her illness the day she returned and that he believed she should have continued her treatment abroad, but she stated she had her own reasons for returning. Grandma then recounted how Liu Qing had always protected Mu Wanqing, even saving her from drowning when they were children.
She explained that after the incident, Mu Wanqing had forgotten him, and Liu Qing had chosen to remain out of her life to spare her from remembering the traumatic event. Expressing her deep satisfaction with Liu Qing, Grandma lamented her limited time.
Later that night, Liu Qing and Mu Wanqing argued about their relationship, with Mu Wanqing insisting on maintaining distance and dismissing his genuine efforts, to which Liu Qing expressed his indifference, mentioning his lack of interest in her family's wealth, having learned about her pre-marital property protections. Before going to bed, Liu Qing urged Mu Wanqing to spend more time with Grandma. On night duty, Liu Qing discovered a damaged door and an intruder in an office during his patrol.
He confronted the intruder, realizing he was a trained mercenary. Simultaneously, Mu Wanqing, needing a forgotten document, drove to the office after failing to reach anyone in security. Inside, the mercenary used a fire extinguisher to spray Liu Qing, causing his body temperature to drop, triggering a traumatic memory and rendering him immobile. The mercenary then stabbed Liu Qing, who collapsed. At that moment, Lei Shuo appeared, prompting the mercenary to flee. Lei Shuo then took Liu Qing to safety.
Mu Wanqing, finding her office door disturbed and the security room empty, called Fu Junidie for help. Following traces of a struggle, she discovered Liu Qing's phone and pieces of fabric, realizing he had been on duty and was likely injured. Lei Shuo, having received a mysterious tip-off about the incident, suspected that the anonymous caller and the assailants were the same group, intentionally orchestrating his encounter with Liu Qing.
Believing the situation to be more complex, he instructed his subordinate to investigate any connections between Maoyuan's recent explosion and their own organization. Unbeknownst to them, sister Mumu was orchestrating these events from behind the scenes. The mercenary, reporting back to sister Mumu, revealed Liu Qing's weakness: a rapid drop in temperature triggers his stress response, rendering him helpless like "a weak cat." Sister Mumu remarked that the real show was just beginning.
