The Knockout Episode 24 Recap
> The Knockout Recap
Li Youtian, Mang Village chairman, recommended Li Shan to take over his position, acknowledging that his time as chairman was coming to an end. He declared that he would risk his life to fight Gao Qiqiang, whom he blamed for the village's current plight. Li Youtian then hosted a banquet for the young men of the Li family, urging them to unite against Gao Qiqiang, who had "killed their people and robbed their land."
After several rounds of drinks, Li Youtian led them to Gao Qiqiang's arcade, where they caused extensive damage. Police arrived at the scene, sealing both the arcade and the hidden casino within. Tang Xiaolong promptly informed Gao Qiqiang about the police raid. Gao Qiqiang, not wanting further complications, decided to temporarily close the casino. His primary concern was ensuring Baldy Yong's body had been disposed of cleanly.
Tang Xiaolong assured him that he had destroyed the body and burned the vehicle used for transport, even filing a report claiming the car was stolen. Gao Qiqiang offered Tang Xiaolong money, but Tang Xiaolong boasted that he had earned enough from the casino to last for years. Meanwhile, An Xin exposed Tang Xiaolong's neighbor who attempted to confess to operating the casino, clearly acting as a scapegoat.
An Xin reviewed surveillance footage near the arcade, identifying a suspicious refrigerated truck with license plate HaiB75233. This truck had been seen near drug dealer A Cheng's home, then the arcade, and finally on a bridge before disappearing from camera view. An Xin recalled Li Qing's previous mention of a construction worker who frequently chatted with his father, Li Shun, and smelled strongly of fish.
Connecting these clues, An Xin deduced that the truck driver was likely the person who attacked Li Hongwei and recommended immediate arrest to prevent him from being alerted. That night, An Xin and Zhang Biao led a team to raid the supposed truck driver's home, only to discover they had the wrong person and the suspicious license plate was fake. Returning empty-handed, Li Xiang sarcastically remarked on their "catch" of illegal fishing tools instead of a murder suspect.
An Xin, frustrated, warned Li Xiang to distance himself from Zhao Lidong. However, Li Xiang insisted he had his own methods for bringing Zhao Lidong to justice. Feeling cornered, Li Youtian decided to surrender himself to the authorities, hoping to expose those who had wronged his family and the village. He encountered Li Shan, who confessed that being village chairman was proving difficult. Li Youtian reiterated his intention to turn himself in.
As he drove towards the city, his car brakes mysteriously failed, sending him plummeting off a cliff. Chen Jinmo, observing from a nearby hilltop, confirmed Li Youtian's demise before leaving the scene. Concurrently, Chengcheng boarded a boat to leave Jinghai, reflecting on her past aspirations. She recalled getting into Jing Normal University, the top university in the province, and dreaming of bringing her mother to the city for a better life.
Chen Jinmo, under orders from Gao Qiqiang, arrived to kill Chengcheng. He told her he did not kill women and offered her a "decent" way out by ending her own life, leaving Chengcheng devastated by Gao Qiqiang's ruthlessness. An Xin visited Meng Yu, who had recovered from her kidnapping ordeal. However, her mother had fallen ill from the shock.
Meng Yu felt immense guilt and began packing away her father Meng Dehai's awards and certificates, explaining that her mother couldn't bear to look at them anymore, especially after Meng Dehai resigned from the police force, a moment that had deeply affected him. Meng Yu decided to return to Beijing to resign from her job, then move all her belongings back to Jinghai to permanently care for her parents.
At the hospital, Li Hongwei finally regained consciousness, but during An Xin's attempt to question him, he only managed to utter "Gao" before relapsing into unconsciousness, requiring urgent medical attention. Gao Qiqiang received a phone call from an associate at the hospital, informing him of Li Hongwei's awakening. He immediately ordered Gao Qisheng and Chen Jinmo to leave Jinghai. Chen Jinmo expressed concern for his daughter, Yao, who was still in school.
Gao Qiqiang promised that Shuting would take Yao into their home and care for her, which Chen Jinmo reluctantly accepted. Chen Jinmo then retrieved his savings from his fish stall and left the market with Yao. Lu Han, An Xin's apprentice, painstakingly sifted through records of over a hundred refrigerated trucks, eventually pinpointing a suspicious vehicle. He brought An Xin to investigate, and they found Chen Jinmo, who recognized An Xin from a past case in 2000.
Chen Jinmo introduced his daughter, Yao, to An Xin. Chen Jinmo tried to leave, claiming he needed to buy food for Yao. An Xin stopped him, asking for his vehicle registration for a routine check, and subtly marked the truck's body. During the conversation, Yao mentioned that her father had been late home on the night of November 28th, contradicting Chen Jinmo's alibi.
Suddenly, An Xin received a call about Gao Qiqiang and his men arriving at the hospital to see Li Hongwei. An Xin and Lu Han quickly departed for the hospital. An Xin immediately erected police tape, blocking Gao Qiqiang and his group, and explaining the legal implications of crossing a warning line. Concerned that Gao Qiqiang and Gao Qisheng might attempt to flee, An Xin ordered checks on their flight and train tickets.
It was discovered that Gao Qisheng had booked two flights for that morning, one to Hong Kong and another to Tokyo, but he never showed up at the airport. An Xin and Lu Han then visited Gao Qiqiang's home to inquire about Gao Qisheng's whereabouts. Gao Qiqiang feigned ignorance and deflected An Xin's attempts to convince him to bring Gao Qisheng back, arguing that listening to An Xin years ago would have left him as a humble fishmonger.
As they were leaving, Yao, playing in the yard with Xiaochen, greeted An Xin as "Uncle An." Gao Qiqiang was visibly alarmed. Upon learning that An Xin had visited Chen Jinmo that morning, he feared that Chen Jinmo's involvement and Yao's presence in his home could implicate him. He instructed Shuting to take both Yao and Xiaochen and leave Jinghai, suggesting a trip to Disneyland in Hong Kong.
Shuting, however, grew angry, suspecting Gao Qiqiang intended to use Yao as leverage. Meanwhile, police continued their investigation into the fish markets, asking a stall owner if he knew how many fish stalls were in the market. The owner informed them there were only two.
