Zhao Ling'er returned to Nanzhao. The people followed her, praying for the princess to bring rain to Nanzhao. Zhao Ling'er made the Five Spirit Orbs ascend and struck them with the Sky Serpent Staff. The Five Spirit Orbs combined their power, and soon heavy rain fell from the sky. The people who had suffered from the drought for a long time walked out of their homes and danced with joy.

Zhao Ling'er and A Nu also felt relieved, knowing their efforts were not in vain. Li Xiaoyao had a faint premonition of trouble, feeling that everything seemed too easy. A palace messenger reported that the King of Nanzhao summoned the princess for an audience. Zhao Ling'er then took Li Xiaoyao and A Nu to the palace.
