From childhood, Li Xiaoyao dreamt of becoming a great swordsman. His encounter with the secluded girl Zhao Ling'er and his journey to help her find her mother unfold into a tale where he also meets the willful beauty Lin Yueru, the talented scholar Liu Jinyuan, the mischievous Miaojiang girl Anu, and the loyal guard Tang Yu. These six youths, each from different backgrounds with distinct personalities, carry the aspirations of the world's people in their hearts.

Through trials and tribulations, they grow and develop, their invisible bonds of friendship strengthening along the way. Ultimately, Zhao Ling'er and the leader of the Baiyue Sect meet their demise together, while Lin Yueru sacrifices herself to save her comrades in the Demon Lock Tower. After enduring tests of life and death, the six finally secure peace and tranquility in the mortal realm.

Episode 1 Recap

Li Xiaoyao, who grew up with his aunt since childhood, often had a strange dream. He dreamt of becoming a great hero, battling the water monster for seven days and seven nights under the sea. After a great victory over the water monster, he became a famous hero far and wide. He couldn't help but laugh out loud in his dream. Immediately after, his aunt hit an iron pot near his ear, startling Li Xiaoyao awake from his heroic dream.

It is said that Li Xiaoyao's parents were a generation of great heroes. After giving birth to Li Xiaoyao, they entrusted him to his aunt, Li Daniang, and then traveled the world. Li Daniang runs an inn and worked hard to raise Li Xiaiaoyao. She often warned Li Xiaoyao not to daydream and to diligently do chores at the inn. This day, several merchants from Nanzhao checked into the inn.

The merchants were generous, so Li Daniang quickly cooked meals and also asked Li Xiaoyao to serve them diligently. After receiving a few taels of silver pieces, Li Xiaoyao worked even harder. When delivering food to the merchants' rooms, he accidentally overheard two of them discussing rumors about an immortal island. One merchant suggested taking the opportunity of this trip to Yuhang to visit the immortal island. Li Xiaoyao, unable to suppress his curiosity, inquired about the island's location.

The merchant explained that he had only heard it through hearsay and not to take it seriously. The Osmanthus wine prepared by Li Daniang was not to the merchants' taste. As Li Xiaoyao was preparing to go out to deliver food, a beggar was sitting by the door and asked Li Xiaoyao for wine. Before Li Xiaoyao could agree, the beggar snatched the Osmanthus wine and drank it all. It turned out to be Jiu Jian Xian.

After a few gulps of wine, Jiu Jian Xian laughed directly at Li Xiaoyao and even declared that Li Xiaoyao was a chosen person. Li Xiaoyao did not know Jiu Jian Xian's identity, but he was very happy to hear the praise. Li Xiaoyao kept looking at the treasured sword in his hand.

Li Xiaoyao went to the red bean porridge shop run by Ding Xianglan to fetch a food box. Her sister Ding Xiulan suggested inquiring with the fisherman Zhang Sige about whether an immortal island truly existed, as Zhang Sige had saved Wang Xiaohu who was floating in the water. After Li Xiaoyao personally asked Zhang Sige, he also felt it was strange. He had lived in Yuhang for 19 years and had never heard of an immortal island before.

As he was preparing to return to the inn, Ding Xiulan suddenly sent word that Li Daniang had fainted. Upon returning to the inn, Hong Daifu told Li Xiaoyao that Li Daniang had fainted due to excessive fatigue and might not have much time left. Li Xiaoyao immediately decided to find the immortal island to seek the so-called immortal elixir that Wang Xiaohu mentioned, in order to cure his aunt's illness.

He then found the merchants, inquired about the location of the immortal island, and set off alone. He didn't know how long he had drifted at sea. When Li Xiaoyao woke up, he was indeed lying on an island. Using the drumstick given by the merchant to strike the mountain, a wonderland immediately appeared before his eyes. As Li Xiaoyao was looking around, an immortal maiden walked up to him.

She carefully examined Li Xiaoyao for a moment and actually called out his name. Li Xiaoyao was surprised. Episode 2 Recap

Episode 3 Recap

Upon waking up, Zhao Ling'er told Li Xiaoyao that she had dreamt of Lao Lao entrusting her to be strong so that she could return to the Southern Zhao Kingdom soon. Episode 4 Recap

Zhao Ling'er used the Soul Revival Spell to heal Li Xiaoyao. Due to excessive energy depletion, Zhao Ling'er fainted from exhaustion. Some villagers passed by the shore. Zhao Ling'er revealed her snake tail and was mistaken for a demon. The villagers quickly left. After Li Xiaoyao woke up, he was surprised to find himself already recovered. He couldn't help but question whether Zhao Ling'er had used magic to heal him.

Zhao Ling'er said that she had used the Soul Revival Spell taught by Lao Lao. Episode 5 Recap

Episode 6 Recap

He suggested to Liu Jinyuan that they capture the snake demon. This way, they could eliminate harm for the people, Liu Jinyuan could prove himself to Lin Tiannan, and most importantly, Li Xiaoyao could escape the marriage. The two hit it off immediately.

Lin Yueru returned home drunk and saw her father and the housekeeper preparing for the wedding. She declared that she would never marry Li Xiaoyao. The housekeeper claimed that Yingying was unwell that day and was not available to receive guests. Liu Jinyuan generously offered silver, and the housekeeper then led the two to Yingying's room. At first, Yingying did not admit to having fought with Li Xiaoyao.

Li Xiaoyao devised a plan to grab Yingying's left arm and discovered the knife wound on her arm. Liu Jinyuan offered to redeem Yingying. Yingying could no longer pretend ignorance and explained her original intention for stealing the treasures. As a courtesan, Yingying's biggest wish was to redeem herself. The female bandit Ji Sanniang found her and took a commission from each theft. Finally, she revealed Ji Sanniang's hiding place. Jin Baye brought the three, Zhao Ling'er, to the backyard.

Episode 16 Recap

After Ji Sanniang was captured, Li Xiaoyao quickly took Zhao Ling'er to look for the lost treasures. They unexpectedly discovered the sound of an undercurrent. The two went in to look and found it was exactly the treasure bead lost by the Inspector Of Yangzhou. A moment later, the treasure bead transformed into a golden phoenix, and then into a little girl.

After Bao Pu gained the energy of Ming Wang, he walked into the Demon Locking Tower and requested Ming Wang to let him out to find the Five Spirit Pearls and offer them to him. However, Gai Luojiao felt that a conspiracy was hidden within the Nanman Kingdom. A Nu's health slightly recovered, and she ran to the courtyard to keep Tang Yu company while he was boiling medicine. She pestered Tang Yu to listen to the story of how she saved him when they were children. Li Xiaoyao remembered that the Taoist priest from Sanqing Temple had said Cai Yi had a thousand years of cultivation and was extremely good at hiding her power. The two continued searching and walked to a riverside where they saw someone salvaging a drowning person.

Upon closer look, it was Jiu Jian Xian. Lin Yueru advised Li Xiaoyao not to meddle, but Li Xiaoyao replied that the drowning person was exactly the one who could save Liu Jinyuan. Jiu Jian Xian was fast asleep and unresponsive. Li Xiaoyao took down the gourd hanging on Jiu Jian Xian and made the smell of wine spread. Jiu Jian Xian gradually woke up. But upon hearing about saving someone, he wasn't interested.

Seeing someone who loved wine so much, Lin Yueru then said her family had many royal wines in their collection. Sheng Gu had A Nu and Tang Yu go to the courtyard to decoct medicine and listened as Gai Luojiao explained Chief Bai Yue's conspiracy. However, there was no one currently who could continue investigating the truth, so they could only place their hope in Tang Yu. A moment later, Sheng Gu took A Nu to gather herbs. Tang Yu brought the medicinal soup to Gai Luojiao.

Gai Luojiao questioned Tang Yu about why he deceived everyone and acted as Chief Bai Yue's informant. Tang Yu explained that when he was very young, his parents were killed by the people of Nan Zhao, and Chief Bai Yue took him in, so he would remember this kindness for his whole life.

Episode 32 Recap

Gai Luojiao explained that Chief Bai Yue was preparing to resurrect the Water Monstrosity. Tang Yu couldn't believe it. A palace messenger reported that the King of Nanzhao summoned the princess for an audience. Zhao Ling'er then took Li Xiaoyao and A Nu to the palace.
